  1. i say save it, even if you cant use it you might have the ablility to save one of very few of these cars that are still around, 360s are rare but comon in comparison to an ff1, i only know of maybe 5 that i know are around, and thats not many..... ff1s are rare even in japan.... even i fyou cant do anything with it you can for shure find somone that can help save it......
  2. well my poor 73 wagon is on the back burner again.... thanks to its older brothers kicking it back..... i hope my 73 will forgive me.....
  3. so browsing i found this there are some subys mixed in with the other jp stuff some cool stuff and some junk kinda fun browsing. check out page 9 looks like a suzukie with a subaru front end..... http://kusahiroexploration.blog107.fc2.com http://kusahiroexploration.blog107.fc2.com/page-9.html
  4. ok so the 2010 legos are out and oubacks. what do you think. the local dealer just got a legacy 3.6R in and and an out back. ill try and get pix tomorrow of the lego. the outback is sold already and might not be there when i go tomorrow. anyway here are my impressions outback. looks like a bastard child from a cadlilac SRX and a ford torus X with 06 trybeca head lights and some funky black plastic can i say avalance. anyway its bad is sucks and the lego sedan. (legacy is sedan only outback is wagon only that what the dealer said) anyway. the back is kinda camery ish. the front is kinda infinity ish but along side the out back it looks good.... ill wait and see if it grows on me.... intirors were ok. 4 differnt textures on the dash alone from letherish to plastic to fake wood and brushed aluminum or SS. its much bigger the dealer side somthing like 4in wider and 6-8 in longer. anyway i know i know my spelling sucks but i only have a minute to write this have to go.................
  5. thats sitting on stock 93 lego mounts.(notched holes in crossmemeber(1/4 in or so per side) no trans on it the crank pully would sit a little higher with the trans in and the axles are within 1/4 of being in the right spot for the front wheels.(liveable) its amazing that from the engine mount to the center of the front stub axle didnt change hardly at all over the years even though the bell housing and engine depths changed drasticaly...
  6. ok here are some pix of a fit i did on a 1979 wagon, this is an ej22,,
  7. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1065752850042342163FkaapH im sorry these pix are way old but i will have new ones and video up soon...
  8. Hi guys long time no post... ive been away in toyota, svx, impreza, chrysler imperail, and tacoma land. but im back, ill be cronicaling the path for my 1973 tailgate wagon, my goal is to keep it as stock as posible. especialy on the inside and outside. so here is the short list to start(pics to follow in the next couple of weeks) bring both 1973 wagon from the shop in western mt to sw mt, here is what ill be working with to start
  9. find a shop that relines brake pads and have them do it for you specail. its not that bad price wise(i have to do this on my 73 with drums up front) anyway you might look down that road.
  10. i just played with this tonight. here is all i know after 6 hours of head scratching. and mix and match.... svx and 1991 3.9 vlsd will not interchange. the stub axles on the 3.9 look just like the axle ends on the 3.54 vlsd out of the svx but the iner most splines are biger on the svx axle then on the 3.9. also the svx axles have a differnt spline count on the axle then a legacy so you cant use the cage off the svx axle on a legacy acle because it wont go on the shaft. anyway i finaly just swaped the carier so i now have a 3.9vlsd with the lsd part from the svx. that way i can put the 3.9vlsd behind my turbo legacy trany that is going in the svx..... i didnt do an exhaustive search of the axles but i did try early legacy axles and mid 90 legacy axles. i didnt try any 2000+ axles though......
  11. Hay Mick, i hope your not planing on 35s. you relly need some 39.5 iroks or some 38 tsl's
  12. 1973 1400dl split tailgate 1400 dual port 4speed 2wd 300k+ paid $400.00 runs and drives fine. brakes need work. but it pulled the trip from walla walla wa to bozeman mt fine with 800lbs of crap in the back. oh yea best mileage on the trip was 34 from butte to bozeman
  13. all right lets see the gen ones people have, please post the following year engine tranny, mileage price paid(optional) and of course a pix
  14. hi guys Tailgatewagon here (used to be subyguy on the old old Vbulitin board) anyway ill be heading to west virgina in feb some time for work and would like to meet some of the old school board members. anyway who in the neighborhood. im from mt so driving 150 miles for no good reason is not a problem so i would say if your within 3 hours or so of wv let me know...
  15. well we had a big thunderstorm here in bozeman yesterday. and lots of subarus died. the hail was 1.5in in dia, the count from 3 friends and there cars. is as fallows(yes this is three peoples cars one sells a few for a living but anyway) 7 svx's with damage on the roofs hoods and front fenders. 11 outbacks from 97-03 withdents all over. 85 brat that had been restored from the ground up with new paint and everything. those are just the ones that are cared about. anyway the subaru dealer had all of there cars damaged. including a used b spec lego. and lots of turbo foresters and legos. anyway a fun day with lots of money lost... look on youtube there are a few vids that arnt very good ill try and post pix of some of the damage later.....
  16. went wheeling at little here is the first of a few vids taken with digi cams. anyway i took the doors off and what not.
  17. 98 impreza 27s usual drive it 70-75mph. on speedo wich is 12% slow so 77-84mph. 18mpg. if i drive 60 on the speedo i get 26mpg.... 284k on the car
  18. shawn i would leave it a 3at and here is why. one if its a restoration then it should be numbers matching(i know there not numbered like you would think of a corvette or anything like that but to have one just like it rolled off the showroom floor would be ideal. if your going to keep it orgianl then keep it orginal. dont chop it up if your going to modify it then do this sell the ea81t people are always looking. put in a ej22 with a five speed. and you will have a restomod brat anyway hope this claifys in your mind what your looking for in this brat... remember a true restoration is down to the nuts and bolts. a resto mod just needs to look kinda like the origanl. when you replace the junk 3at then you will be making it a resto mod..... anyway post pix of this gem when you get a chance.
  19. i dont have understeer on it now that it is lifted and has swampers. it understeered whenit was stock.... i dont have a rear swaybar anymore and that makes it better offroad ive noticed.
  20. i think the stiff rear sturts make the car under stear less. i drove it with the sturts and no swampers for a little bit. i dont think the struts hurt the rallying as much as the swampers they have no grip on gravil and even less when turned sideways. right after i lifted it i came into a corner way to hot just after a crest. i was doing maybe 35mph i pitched it sideways and droped it into first i barrly made the corner infacted i yelled to my wife (WERE GOING OFF). the rear tires were hanging off the corner anyway point of the story is if i would have had the swampers on i would have no more impreza. the same corrner with the swampers on is about a 20-25mph corner evenwitht eh best of lines..... one good thing about the swampers is i hit a rock about 9in in dia at almost 40mph with my rear wheel in a drift the rock went in under the tire and i drove over it. you could see where the tire flexed all the way to the bead but it didnt hurt the tire..... also jumping the car is helped by the tires........ hum not shure if its all a jumble of radomness. so here is the short... corners with swampers equals easy sideways but slow striats are slower with less control. stoping is longer with less control the only fun thing is the snow... the drifting is easy and very perdicable i can drive it sideways at 10mph or 40 mph and feel at home.
  21. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=679 ltimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=679 so you can see what were talking about 98 impreza 99 outback struts & springs super swamper tsl's 27x 9.5 x15 on forester wheels. tires never ballenced ej22 with 5speed, 1/4 spacers on rear wheels rear 3.9 vlsd out of 91 ss sedan 10,000 miles on this set up, so for how its been, oringnal driving impressions of car(un moded with 270k) drove good but stuts were shot. on a strait strech of gravil road fairly narrow and a bit rutted i was seeing top speeds of 80mph +-5mph, car was controlable but understeard and was easy to slide at 45mph+,but try to scandanavion flick took lots of input and brakeing to get it to come around. good. car did 110mph+ on free way with no drama, driving impressions now 281k on the car now swampers are about half wore out, not too loud, car will still do 110mph+(100 or so on the speedo) but takes a little more time getting there, first gear sucks you have to keep the car rolling and lug the motor and hope it has enough to crawl you along, or use lots of speed seams to have held up well to both. struts are starting to leak but ive jumped it 15 or so time never relly bottomed out hard but have been 35mph + 2 feet of the ground. took it on the same straigt gravel road scarry at 65mph, turn in is much better car drifts easly with just a dip in the power and a slight turn in. milage is down from 25-to (17-20), have aired the car down to 5psi and snow wheeld it gets to much traction and wheel speed is hard to keep up. as for floating it dos ok clutch is almost gone now and car is squrly at 70mph on snowy roads(i know dont flame me but here in mt we drive the same speed no matter what the weather most of the time) would i do this mod again. yes but i would still miss the rally speed every time i drive on gravel roads. anyway hope this helps anyone thinking of doing this mod. the only thing i would change is to do it to a coupe.......
  22. sorry but yours was nothing like this:) it has a split tailgate one up one down. a 1300 or 1400 and is relly light. you can pick up one wheel offthe ground by myself.... but from the outside they look close....
  23. here is a link to a video of my buddys 4runner and my suby.
  24. here is my 79 duking it out with the 85 runner
  25. i had an 81 with soft springs on it and 33's and ive driven my buddys 88 pickup with 4000k in parts alone along with 38in super swampers. now they would go anywhere i pointed (within reason) 4+ feet of snow and lots of other stuff. but i never realy had fun in them. my 98 impreza with no lowrange is funner. now the only reason i bring this up is i drove a 91 extended cab pickup yesterday it had 130k on it and was in awsome shape. while i was driving it i was like man i with i had one of these but i cant for the life of me figure out why.......... so for those of you like. ZAP, Subarujunkie and others that have relly offroaded subaru and toys why do you like the toys and do they relly do for you what your suby did. i love offroading my suby even though it sucks in comparison to my old truck.......
