so the 4wd low linkage is the only thing differnt about the 1981 ea81 trany?? huh would have figured it was more then that...

has anyone put an ej22 with a gen 1 dual range trany. id like to put an ej22 in a 1981 brat but want to keep the orignal trany. anyway thanks for the help in advance.

i have two friends that ran suport for a bike effort. infact they rode the trail two weeks prior to even and then drove support for it. they thought it could be done in a suby. and these are toyota guys not suby guys. i say its worth a go. it would be fun and if it didnt work then at least a great time was had. i remember when they said the rubicon couldnt be done in a suby. well some did it, so i think the baja could be done.

Ok so lets see your 4x140 wheels i know there is a wheels page but most of the pix are kinda poor quality(i know i took a few of them) anyway i was thinking more of the wheels that people have cleened up and put on.. so if you painted, polished or otherwise lets see them....

i have an svx and while they are fast they dont turn well and you will eat up lots of money on repairs. but if you have to go 120mph in a strait line on gravel or ice there isnt a much better car... i say this from expreiance not from conjecture

im going to go with teh 4eat for shure i do alot of offcaber stuff with big rocks. the last rock i crawled up on i almost fliped the car:confused: and it was about 300 ft down the hill before the trees started. i kinda had to ramp it up on there as thats all i could do with a 5speed unless i were to burn the clutch. anyway i think with the stroker 2.2 or the 3.3 i will have plenty of power i hope.. i would like to hear more on freeranges probs. ive heard he drives like a madman.

i thought those were 80_84 maybe im wrong anyway if they either way id probably be up for one.

I was just thinking about my next offroader the impreza is fun but to limited. i dont want to do a 5dr since the final crawl is still way to high. so this is what i was thinking. eg33 or stroker ej22. i have all the parts for both. 4eat from outback (4.44) manual switch for center diff. big trany cooler... anyway as i see it the auto trany will crawl alot better as it can be slipped as long as trany temps are kept in check it should work fairly well.... any thoughts....

1979 wagon with ea81 4sp dual range(from 81 brat( 90mph) 1985 carb wagon 115 down hilll... 1987 carbed wagon on 27s 75 on the speedo but that was on gravil... i think any ea81 ea82 car can do 100mph with a properly running fuel system and a fee flowing exhost... as for the newer stuff svx all the way. 100mph in almost any weather.... hit 125 on ice but it was -26F so it was as sticky as pavment. i love winter...

i realy hope they are 15s and not 390's i made that mistake once and it cost me alot of scratch........ those are my favorite pugs....

Am i right in thinking that any 1600 clutch cable will work on my ea81 2wd sedan. ive got to get a new one but ebay is kinda scarce on the ea81 while having lots of the ea71

grab all the carbon you can as its up to 60 bucks a yard for non pre preg and scraps can be used for lots of stuff in the layups

ok so this is going to be a post about my ea81 sedan that im going to make into the best milage machine i can. here is what i got and what im thinking of doing if you have any Ideas Please share. 1981 ea81 2wd 5speed, car is stock with 130k on it and all factory systems intacked. no PS and no AC here are a few ideas i had. spfi conversion.... lower it using cut 4x4 springs...w new shocks 165R80 13s on alloys of some kind not shure what kind yet air damn of some kind on the front fairing to smoth air out over rear window. brakes NOT shure if Disks would be better then drums. i think disks have more drag but less rotating weight...... anyideas

well i've got a set of gen 1 fenders and a gen1 hood NOS pluse i do have that parts 73 wagon for a dash mold... hum keep the ideas coming and ill see what i can start i belive the dash should be first. but who knows....
