EA82 ready for winter holiday
mudduck replied to Lukas's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
One more after thought. Carry a cigarrette lighter in your pocket incase the door lock gets frozen. you can heat up the key to thaw any ice in the lock cylinder. -

This thing would be a blast in the winter. Just get a heater out of a bus and bundle up! -

With no education, you will continue to be in alot of no money situations. Its alot harded to get a job these days without at least a ged. Hell, i have a high school education, and its hard to get a good job with just a high school diploma anymore. Back on track, make sure that your cooling system is ready for the winter as well. Having frozen water in a engine block will make for a real bad day! -
All that would have been cool.

No need to appoligize. Going with a group always makes for more fun also.

Can't agree more. Can't tell you how many times I have come across someone who is stuck and they don't have anything as far as recovery equipment, or even a spare tire or jack in the vehicle:rolleyes:
-
My loyale is a 5 speed, but is limited in what it can do. Low end is pretty good, but single range leaves me runing out of gears on steep climbs, but it will lug all day at idleon the trail.

Getting stuck is part of wheeling. Its happened to everyone who is at least half serious about 4 wheeling. its part of the fun, as long as you are prepared and know how tto properly use your equipment. This is also why it is good to use the buddy system, talking moore than one 4x4, but being prepared can make the difference between having a fun trip or a absolute nightmare. sorry, back to the subject at hand, which do y'all prefer to wheel?

Which vehicle is better, wheather it be a ea82 wagon or a Brat or hatch or even a jeep is all a matter of personal preference. Myself, I like wagons, mainly because of the room inside for gear needed for a longer trip, and I can sleep comfortably in the back if needed. My loyale is limited in where it can go due to lack of gearing, and clearence, but I have supprised my self and others in what it can do and where it can go. Also, remember that 4-wheeling is 80% driver!! You can have the biggest, most build rig but it ain't worth squat if you don't know the baaics off 4-wheeling. That said, I have taken a Honda places that other folks had a hard time getting into with thier vehicles with more clearence. I have also been around and driving 4wd"s well before I ever had a Drivers licence(the honda was the first and only 2wd i ever owned) Sorry to ramble, pain meds are kickin in a little, but bottom line is its all personal preference Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents

Wow!!
-
still holding together, and its been a year and a half and 20,000 miles
-
Know right where thats at. Haven't been out there since I moved to NC 3 years ago.
-
it more like cracked when i remover the bolts. Gorrilla Glue is great.
-
The left cover actualy cracked and broke when i did my t belts, so i glued it back together. i don't like the idea of running without covers, because my wagon sees alot of dirt, and crud.

Do you live next to the Brewery? That neighborhood looks very familiar. (I grew up on lookout mt.) Those wheels Look good!

Well, my 91 Loyale is parked due to a burnt out clutch, and got to thingking that a low range tranny would really improve this car, as it see,s work, play and field dudy when it is up and going. How difficult would this swap be and what trannys will work? I am guessing that the swap won,t be to difficult, and I am also guessing that a d/r tranny from a ea 82 car will work.

Got a 92 Legacy Awd wagon that seems to want to pull to the right. The wheel seems to be pulsing and pulling to the right. Air pressure is the same in all 4 tires, wheel bearings all checked out ok, and the rack and pinion steering seems ok with the exeption of a ripped boot that will be fixed. The alignment seems all good also, and the tires are about new. Tie rod ends and ball joints seem alright too. Could it be that the camber is off? Any ideas would be appreciated.

7500 to 8000 rpm before. It will run right up to 7000 rpm without any problems. I have put almost 100,000 miles on this car, and the ea 82 has almost 300,000 miles on it now and will still take the punishment. Oh yeah, compresion is good on all four cylinders, and uses about a quart of oil between oil changes, most of which probly leaks. I feel more comfertable runnung the snot out of this motor any day of the week. I would,nt do this to my honda with half the miles because i just don,t think it could handle the abuse.

Loyale to soon to be parked

Need somthing to drive while soob is down, and a 2nd car wouldn't be a bad idea either. I will find more Soobies one day. And if I but the honda, I'll be gatting a heck of a deal on it, will cost less to buy the car and register it than the repairs on my wagon.
