I hate to say it, but my 91 loyale 4wd has had better days and will b getting parked. The clutch is about compleatly smoked, leaks in the motor just are getting worse everyday, and a handful of other little bugs has made me make the decision to possibly buy a, I know, Honda. North Carolina don't have a big Subaru population like out west and up north, and finances are a problem right now. But, I am planing on doing the needed repasirs to the roo to get it back road and off road worthy again, as I would be ;ost without somthing to go play out in the woods with, and especially without a subaru, road worthy or not.

The Loyale's last ride...
mudduck replied to Andy FitzGibbon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My 91 Loyale came from Colorado, and has no rust on the sub frame, just the body. The front fenders are slowly disapearing. -
Vodka makes me think I am 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

Might have to try that sometime

I prefer Miller High Life. Its cheap and good to drink when not driving.

Torque steer.

Drinking beer and driving your Subaru can lead to a banged up subaru.

cotter pin is there. All the parts that need to be there are there, and before anyone asks, the word out on the spring washer is facing out.

For those in rust free lands:
mudduck replied to WoodsWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My loyale that came from Colorado (I'm from there originaly) has plenty of rust on the body. The underside is in good condition. On the other hand, I looked at a GL wagon here in central NC and the underside had so much rusr I wouldn't have driven it on the road. The sad thing is they had no problem getting it tp pass inspection with all that rust on the sub frame, but mine barly passes couse of the rusr on the body and a solid sub frame.(people think backwards around here) -
Dang, it seems that every time I post here its because of the front passenger side having some sort of problem. I can't seem to keep the axle nut tight on the pass. side. The come washer, spring washer, and nut are new, and the axle is a rebuilt unit. Any ideas? I'm about ready to just use loctite. Oh yeah, the car is a 91 Loyale 4wd.

Out west in the mountains there are a few running around. There are plenty of 4wds running around here, just not many older 4wd subarus. And yes, they do great out on the beach. -

Not mant older subarus around here in North Carolina. I rarely see any 4wd cars around and just a hand full of 2wd cars. I can say that I have the dirtiest subaru around Ashboro though. -
Going to work this morning and the car just cut off. The only things that are getting any power is the hazzard lights and the park lights when I turn them on with the switch on the steering collum. I have checked all connections that might be obvious. Could it be a fuseable link? Any help would be much appreciated.

Body parts for Loyale Wagon ?
mudduck replied to gregvdd's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The lower rear of my front fenders got to the point to where the mounting bolts had nothing tp mount to and the fenders would flap around. Plumers strap, pop rivits and a hammer fixed that. -
Thats what I was thinking. Thanks

I have a 91 Loyale 4wd and was poking around the hood and found two conectors unpluged on the driver side toward the back of the engine compartment. When I pluged the green on up, it would make the fuel pump turn off and on while the car wasn't running, but the key in the on position. The other just made the check engine light flash on and off. Why are these here? Is the one that turns the fuel pump cut on and off there to check the fuel system? I'm just real curious as to why these are here.

Got a new axle from advanced free, and got the new washers from the dealer, and have put 600 miles on the car sience the repair, and everything seems good.

Well, about 3 months agoe I replaced the pass. side axle with a reman. unit from my local parts house. Well, about a month later, the axle nut seemed to have backed off. No big deal, I thought. So I tightend down the nut and had little problems with it for a while. Well, about a month ago I noticed that the front felt kind of strange, so I started to check things out. Loose axle nut. Tightened it back up, and noticed that the bearings were going, so I installed new wheel bearings, again. I had just replaced bearings when the new axlw was installed. Well, three weeks had gone by, no problems out of the front, until I leave work for lunch. I start going down the road, all seens good. Then I notice a pull when I let off the thottle. So, I go to pull over to see whats going on, and as I am pulling into the gas station, I here a pop, and the sound of splines slipping. I take a look at the pass. side, and the axle nut, washer and cone washer are gone!! I dig through my tool box, and I luckily had an extra nut, and a washer that would work to limp the car out of the way. Get car towed home, where it sits broke. Upon further investigation, I had found that the nut had slide off the threads, broke the cotter pin and everything went. Yep. The jokers here at the Dealer says it will take 2-3 weeks, thats right, weeks to get a new cone washer, the one piece that is going to keep me from getting the car back to gether. Going to take the axle back to advanced to try to get $$$$ back on it. I have to replace bearings as a result of this fauly axle twice now. I don't even want to mess with these remans anymore. I'm lucky that this junk happened at a slow speed goinmg into the gas station, and not on the hwy. where I was about to go. If anyone has any cone washers they want to get rid of let me know!!! I can't wait 2-3 weeks to get this car back on the road!!
