Magnaflow Muffler built into trunk with Side Exit
D3F0 replied to D3F0's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just swapping suspension around its not gonna be to bad lol. Starting to block this thing off this is a mock up for this box I am going to have it so I can bolt it in and use some kind of gasket to make it seal perfectly. -

I will lift and drop this car depending on the season. Winter run a 2 inch lift with blocks and prelude springs and svx front struts and summer some type of coil overs/ground control set up. Just figuring out what to do with coil overs because I want at least 6 inches of suspension travel and that is not easy to make or buy cheaply. -

next update will explain better in pictures. Also yea no one really fabricates things these days. Instead of asking why how about you ask your self why not? That is the whole point of my truck framed RX. I wanna see how crazy I can build a car. i made new mounts for the whole back end I saved this car from death. Its almost rust free right now. Since I cut the stock location out so I ended up moving the muffler into a new home. so the muffler went into a similar area just higher up so i can build skid plates and all that. -

Its not going to be in the car to make it safe this is just the beginning of that project took me a few hours. i am going to build a box around it seal it off properly make it all air tight and hidden so I can pass inspection. Just the best place I could think of to help with ground clearance and all that. -
Not another "Help my EJ22T swap won't start" thread!

Amen also make sure when you turn the ignition on its wired properly so it can send the signal to the ecu to actually fire everything. If you have a bad Cam or crank sensor it could cause the ecu to not know when to send power the coils.- 18 replies

I'm going to modify those rear trailing arm this weekend with some frame I have laying around. However I don't know what to when it comes to the spring perch. How bad did the tires rub on that? I don't wanna use spacers on my one day "daily driver. Maybe coil overs could help idk what do you recommend. Also I'm going to edit my post earlier and clean your thread up.

" issue(s) I have so far is with my 225 tire on wrx wheels I need a spacer in the rear to get it off the trailing arm" Why has no over ever just make a bend in this stock bar so that it could clear beefier tires. I am talking about using some square tubing to make a ( type of shape to the vertical pieces sticking up.

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/157881-magnaflow-muffler-built-into-trunk-with-side-exit/ I am going for an EA sound with this setup.

Today I did a funny thing because of the way I built the back for my car I ruined everything and anything that was stock. I wanted to do a center exit but it was too much complexity. So I cut a hole in my already insane trunk. Another View Then i Welded in some hangers Checked the exit Pulled it all apart and welded everything I will redo this all mendrel bent pipes soon Back View This is going to have a legeacy resonator installed too with no cats. Shouldnt be too loud with EA82 But with Ej205 i am sure it will suck haha

I love what you did so much this makes me all warm inside! i might do something similar, you did this to avoid having to modify the cross member right?. I've got my parts ready to go any advice? Also i have those same wheels but in gold! mine are off a 2002 WRX. I like how they look any chance you have any better pictures I am getting those wheels next weekend off a friend and i wanna see how it looks from a distance so I can have better dreams.

I wanna see how your swap is going. I am done the exact same thing, what year motor is yours. Also if you have a welder just Fab up some trailing arm and diff mounts for a Impreza rear end. Get creative and use pillow ball ends http://tssfab.us/wp/?wpsc-product=subaru-rear-trailing-arm-mounts Make a very simple version of this if not buy a stock one of course. Copy the frame mounts of an impreza and go for it. http://tssfab.us/wp/?wpsc-product=subaru-gcgd-rear-subframe I might do it one day when I get sick of XT6 hybrid rear I have going on.

Because I got it cheap and I don't need over 300Hp for now anyways. I just want like 250 to 300 Back to the original post rpholz You are doing the perfect RX build in my opinion. carb'd shortblock,3gen turbo heads, spyder intake JDM a2w intercooler, forge bov TWE header, bellmouth downpipe, 3" back to a axle dump 08 wrx td04, coolant reroute gm bcs copper 2 row rad, fluidyne oil cooler Haltech Platinum sport 1000 custom harness with Milspec bulkhead custom rails, late model 2.5l top feed injectors, aeromotive fpr, -6 an lines That will be good for what around 200HP which is perfect. Any more and no clutch for an ea82 driveline will hold and heads i think flow to around 250hp. After that i don't think it could actually take anymore boost without pulling the heads right off the block. Tires wont keep up and all other types of issues so again this build is perfect for an RX. Also that is a lot of love for our cars since they only come with 115 anyways. They were raced in WRC with 190HP and I love turbo builds they are fascinating

Haha ok and what exactly is the point of your post?
-
ej205 vs EA82, where to start. Double the power, more aftermarket support, parts available, reliability, cooling, easier to tune, better flowing everything, sti compatibility, sound, and overall love. This engine will never make 300WHP and last more than a day. So 2002 WRX swap it is I already have the EJ205 engine on an engine stand and I just grabbed a second one.
-
I really love the way you set up the sensors. I have a megasquirt MS3X ecu and I almost was gonna mega-squirt the ea82 then realized my wrx swap plans are wayy better.

2" lift making it hard to steer.
D3F0 replied to jread's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorry i didn't realized he already spaced moved the crossmember down with 1.25" blocks already. Numbchux is rightSome camber adjustment would deff help. -
I wish mine was this clean I had more rust and metal on my RX. This is just a taste of the amount of metal added to mine. I do not even see any rust on yours!? My frame was even done In the front. i had to cut it out in huge chunks and weld in frame patches like this . You are a very lucky man I recommend you make sure you grind down and repaint any rust underneath so that this stuff does not happen to you.

Yes your CV joints at a funny angle now. By dropping the cross member the same amount everything will straighten out to factory spec. The blocks did cause this by bending your axles down at angle. you may wanna drop your sub frame about an inch as well. -
Yes I bet he is talking about a 1987 to 1989 Subaru RX Turbo I really do believe they are Factory rally cars that it why I am building one =)

Two kinda funny things you won't see with a Brat...
D3F0 replied to skishop69's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This makes me want to get a brat to hall around my crazy custom 1993 I made it as crazy as possible back in the day lol. It looks a little more normal now. Imagine that thing hanging out of a crazy bedlined brat now that would look insane haha -

Thanks guys and yea the weather is going to be really nice up 58 degrees next week so I might just go absolutely nuts on the body work this weekend. I just grabbed two quarts of POR 15 going to test it on all the frame rails so I can put it on the ground do a quick test drive and not worry about the frame dying again.
