  1. I wouldn't worry too much. Remember that this is winter, we're on winter gas, and you have a new engine. When my Mate was driving the Impreza to his job, it was showing 12 mpg on the computer. It's crawling back up now that I'm back in the car as it is now at least getting the chance to warm up a bit before I pull in to work.
  2. Welcome. I hope to own an old Brat someday, along with several other old Subies from back when they were chock full o' character.
  3. It should still be available for the XBOX 360. Nobody mentions it anymore because the new box is the new shiney. I'll be finding out for sure tomorrow and will report the result. UPDATE: Yep, just found out DLC packs are XBOX one only. They've insured that I'll never buy another Forza game again. *grumbles*
  4. I had a $50 gift card from my folks for Christmas, and used it to snag this game. I'll be catching up on all the car packs tomorrow
  5. Rust. They are getting up there in age, and they suffered from many of the same rot issues as other Japanese vehicles of the era. Keep an eye out for it, and get after it as soon as you see it to avoid having it consume your very rare and precious little trucklet.
  6. Color me as odd, but I'd keep the one in Forza bone stock, and have a blast just driving it around within the game. I have a couple of oddball cars like that in the first one that I do the same thing to.
  7. Another thing to note. 4 hi will have the same overall ratio as 2 hi. Your revs should be the same at any given speed in 4 hi and 2 hi.
  8. Welcome from another newbie Subie owner. I bought a 2015 Impreza a few weeks ago, and am lovin' it.
  9. Greetings. It's probably warmer in Iceland that it is in my neighborhood right now. I want to visit your country someday.
  10. I have a 2013 Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi quad cab truck, a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera for a beater (both in the picture below) Also I have a 2004 Saturn ION Redline with 9600 original miles on it. 2012-05-08_20-47-06_262 by bryanfoust01, on Flickr
  11. That first pic of the cylinder head - is that a hole in the head that I see by what looks like the exhaust manifold? As I'm new, what is the horror story with these engines?
  12. The pic is the same suit, just an outdoor shot cropped to the head. They are characters of my own creation, this one being the blending of my love of wolves, and my interest in medieval history. My second suit is a grey and white wolf, who is a curious character whose curiosity can sometimes get him into a spot of trouble. They are my hobby, and yes they were made by a professional maker to my exact measurements. I have one more character that I wish to be made, this one with a more sophisticated demeanor.
  13. I found these two gems on a random search in Ebay. Anybody looking for a couple of mint old Subarus? These are NOT mine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Other-GL-Standard-Cab-Pickup-2-Door-1987-subaru-brat-gl-standard-cab-pickup-2-door-1-8-l-/161532669952?forcerrptr=true&hash=item259c18f000&item=161532669952&pt=US_Cars_Trucks http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Other-GL-4WD-STATION-WAGON-RARE-CLASSIC-ORIGINAL-CALIFORNIA-SURVIVOR-1987-SUBARU-GL-4WD-/321628487369?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4ae28d3ec9&item=321628487369&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
  14. Awesome thread. I just read it start to finish. You're making me ache for a BRAT of my own. You did an epic job on yours.
  15. Mine being the base model doesn't have the paddle shifters. The worst CVT I drove was the one that was in a Nissan Cube. I rove one when they first came out, and that thing would wind the motor up high with even moderate throttle input. I told the salescreature back then that I wanted a manual, and he literally refused to find one. They lost a sale that day. The Subie unit is much more relaxed. I drove a Honda Fit with the CVT as part of my car hunt. Honda's has a very similar feel to the Subie.
  16. Thanks. I love the CVT. If I'm gonna have an automatic, I'd prefer a CVT over a step gear auto for the smoothness. I've had 3 other CVT vehicles, and they simply require a bit of an adjustment in how you drive 'em to adjust to the "motorboating" that can occur if you are a heavy footed driver. Once the car is warmed up, most of the time my acceleration occurs with the revs below the 2000 RPM mark. Subaru did a good job with it.
  17. I finally got the drive home from the dealership and the weeks commute washed off of the car, and snapped a couple of pics. Stats: 2015 Subaru Impreza 2.0i CVT transmission Auto Dimming Mirror Whatever they call that pearly metallic white (I like it) Black interior Pretty much what is considered a "base" car these days.
  18. More expensive maybe, You would have to pull the tranny anyway to get to the clutch. If you're gonna replace it, do the clutch, as well as the rear main seal on the engine just because you have it all apart and it's a deep seated component to get to if IT ever goes bad.
  19. My Aunt had a Subaru XT Coupe, as did one of my bosses back when I worked retail in high school and college. My old High School buddy had a mid 80's FWD 2 door hatch, and a 70's FWD coupe that he rattle can painted black. I had my own eyes on a late 70's wagon that a neighbor was considering selling until vandals totaled it when I was in high school. One of my "bosses" when I had paper delivery in Middle and High School had one of the dual range 4x4 coupes. I've been around a fair number of the cars and they do have a soft spot in my heart. One thing that I had dreamed of doing was cramming an XT6 engine and transmission into a Brat. That never came to fruition sadly. It took me a long long time to get one, but yep, I finally do, and I can feed the sickness.
  20. Hello all, I am the proud new owner of a 2015 Subaru Impreza as of the 17th of December. I traded in a 2014 Chevy Spark and a 1995 Tiffin Allegro Bay motorhome for the new shiney. I live quite a distance from the nearest dealer, so I had plenty of time to get to know the car on the way home. This is my first Subaru vehicle, although I do have fond memories of the late 70's and 80's cars with their squared off designs, cool proper dual range 4x4 transmissions, and that instantly recognizable Subaru sound from their engines. While those things are all in the past, I'm pleased with the new ride. The car was showing 39.9 mpg on the mileage computer on winter gas, with a somewhat hilly drive, a green engine, and temps in the teens. I'm a bit of a slowpoke, and keep my speeds down to 55 mph on the highways, so I do routinely exceed EPA ratings by a wide margin. Granted the Spark and Impreza are completely different classes of cars, I have to say that it is a tremendous relief to be in a car that isn't buzzing in complaint at being on the highway, and getting knocked about like a football in wind. I'm hoping to keep this car for a very long time. I'm sure I'll have a few questions pop up as time goes by and I find this and that in the car. And now for a couple of links to the pics of the car in my FB page. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10422327_10205200515673894_6321927386660666105_n.jpg?oh=ce52648e2ebfaeb020adb25d95a72ee3&oe=54FF6C35&__gda__=1426541091_a02f0e30f08270d8dfc95b25aa4971a0 https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/1897657_10205202565245132_2393145127146825840_n.jpg?oh=bb55c65f16cec5f459cf2ea7b97ea6c1&oe=5502F625&__gda__=1425907630_4e4aebf5b3e467e1b9004b2b0e5b04e2
