    So, as far as synthetic oils go, which brand do y'all think is the best? Or are they about the same? Btw, thanks for all the replies, really helps.

    I currently have 10w 30 mobil 1 synthetic oil in my ea81. Is this a good oil type and weight to be using in this engine with 200k miles, or is there a better oil to be using? I want this engine to go as long as possible. Thanks.

    It does. When you push the clutch in the box flexes, at least mine does.

    Better late than never I guess, anyway... As you can see my welder reconstructed the hole by smoothing out the area and welding a washer on so the pin wouldn't move around when I pushed the clutch in. This picture shows the clutch pedal (on the left) and the brake pedal (on the right) that pin goes through both pedals to the left side where the welding took place. If you're having trouble, that's where I would start. Hope this helps.

    I have another question, would a clogged PCV valve cause oil to be pushed up into the air cleaner? I believe all the lines are hooked up right but the PCV valve hasn't been touched for a long time...

    Wow, that was so, SO helpful!! I didn't quite understand the PCV line stuff before but I know what to do now, thanks to you! My engine is the ea81 so prolly not too many differences between the two. It should be pretty strait forward for me now. Thanks again

    Like you, I'm also doing a weber swap on my 83 brat. Do you think you could explain to me how to hook up the vacuum lines (passenger, driver side valve lines and PCV valve lines) after the weber is on? Also I hear talk about the charcoal canister but I can't find it anywhere and don't know what it looks like..?

    Sure! I should be able to get some up tomorrow hopefuly. My clutch squeaked really bad before it got so bad I could barely shift. Wouldn't be surprised if you're pedal box needs repaired. I'll get some pictures up ASAP.

    Because the stock carb I have is a Carter-Weber and not a Hitachi. I haven't bought the new Weber yet but from what I've read on this site, the Webers need 4 mounting bolt holes on the intake, the intake I currently have only has 2. so that's why I'm looking for a different intake.

    I'm planning on putting a Weber carb on my ea81 but need a different manifold since the Weber doesn't fit on the one I have. Just wondering if an ea71 manifold will fit on a ea81 engine without any problems? Thanks

    First time posting on here so I'll do my best to explain what's going on... As the title says my clutch pedal hinge is worn out and and rubbing up against the medal and when I push the clutch in it moves around a lot. Since it moves around it doesn't allow the clutch to disengage the tranny all the way and I can't shift smoothly and can barely get it into reverse without damaging something in the tranny. My question is if any of you have had this problem and know how to fix it, or if it's even fixable? I never noticed before but, I'm assuming it had some kind of rubber bushing in there to keep it from rubbing up against the medal, if so, that's obviously gone.. Thanks for any info you can provide!
