  1. So damn thing died again tonight! I just keep telling myself that once I work out all the issues it will be amazing. It has already been good fun but this issue is getting frustrating. So while driving home I pulled up to a light and it died. thankfully I was in the right lane rolled it back 20 feet and parked it, fiddled with it with no luck for a while, rode my skateboard home for dinner and returned with my girlfriend after to help me fix and or move it. Checked the distributor cap and it was pretty worn lots of corrosion cleaned it up a big and reinstalled because its all I've got at the moment. Will likely replace this soon. Checked spark in one cylinder because it was the easiest one and had a big blue spark and the plug wasn't soiled. Didn't check the rest as I figured if there wasn't another issue it would at least hear some firing from one cylinder. After a while I got the thing to go REALLY ROUGH, just enough to get the thing around the corner to somewhere I could park it overnight. It was running so rough I didn't want to drive it towards home because if it died on the bridge I would have been torched. Checked timing belts marks seem to align with with the dots just right. Could it have intermittent problems one tooth off? Checked fuel, both lines had gas in them going into and out of whatever is going on there. Battery cranks and gives spark so I don't think its dead. Will give charging it a try. There are two chewed up wires that may be but are not likely causing problems. One is on of the two white wires running into a round white plug near with fuel filter, and the other is into the coolant temperature sensor. When the car started I had the fuel cap off, then we put it back on to drive. Could there be a vacuum lock stopping fuel from flowing? I also get a hissing noise when opening the cap which seems unusual. TO DO Replace distributor cap Check spark in other three cylinders Charge battery (in case) I also red about oil getting into the air filter and stuff from overfilling so I'm going to try and clean all the PCV hoses.
  2. Snaked! I might be interested depending when I could get time to come down. I was thinking next weekend might be a good one for me to roll down and help you clean up a bit, not sure if you still need someone. Also if you're willing to ship take the money I'm pretty broke these days don't know if its wise to spend too much money right now!
  3. You can also get racks that fold down that allow you to open the hatch. There pretty common but you still have to remove your bikes.
  4. The quad is the only thing I've seen, but without a pick and pull is pretty impossible.
  5. I've searched all over and can't find anything about different headlights for a Loyale. I guess there is a wuad conversion but we don't have pick and pulls up here in Vancouver anymore so finding ones at a yard is not really a possibility. My buckets are torched, rusted and peeling. My glass is cracked and chipped. My seals are pooched and theres water in them, causing the rust. They just need to be replaced and we don't have pick and pulls up here. Has anyone figured out a decent way to put more modern healights in these things? I don't need HIDs but would like something that doesn't suck!
  6. Thanks for the info! I'm actually happy the po's shitty switch broke off because I have ones that should fit right in the hole that I found at work. Once I get my front bumper straight again I'm going to install some lights I picked up at work.
  7. Should tackle this soon and replace the ancient wires that may be causing me problems.
  8. Fully sheered one of the exhaust bolts off on my first adventure. Really not looking forward to drilling out and fixing it. Never drilled a bolt out before but I've never herd anyone desribe it as fun... Especially when lying under a vehicle.
  9. I think I'm going to do timing. I also might get a different battery from work but would need to change my plugs to the screw in type vs post terminals as those are the strongest most readily available batteries. Checking the distributor tonight as well as the exhaust since I've got a leak somewhere down there!
  10. Has been running fine for a few days now. Yesterday the check engine light came on and went off on it's own... Weird.
  11. Why would you go half the raiting? why would they fail sooner?
  12. I have a button wired in by the po and it was poorly done has come unglued, yes he used glue to secure it. Before I removed the fog lights it was used to turn them on, a positive went to the battery, another wire plugged grouped into a fuse plugged into the pannel, and a ground. Since buying I have pulled the fog lights, removed the positive lead from the battery and just left the switch hanging. I would like to remove it and replace it with something more functional as I have a switch that will fit in the hole but would like to use it for its original purpose. There is also a removable piece of plastic just to the right under the wheel that says ABS on the backside and seems like a space that might hold a button. Was ABS an option on these cars? Was a switch or relay an option for it here? What was supposed to be here? If its just an optional switch place I'll replace it with new secondary lights I have! Can take pictures if nobody understands what I'm asking.
  13. Wondering if its possible to replace the fusible links on a '93 Loyale with normal fuses? It seems common for them to have connection issues and I just don't understand why use an old system when there is a newer more reliable one in existence? Can't seem to find anything in search so what is the deal here?
  14. How would I check with a thermometer? So just over the tick is normal for temp on some? I think the battery Im running is just screwing with spoob. I have a really large battery that doesn't allow me to put the coolant reservoir or the fusible links in the right place.
  15. Weird you talk about the coolant as I think something is up with my cooling. The car never gets much higher than the first mark on the dial meaning the coolant is likely always flowing keeping the engine cooler than it needs to be? Still don't really know how to check much without just replacing things. Will try and pinpoint issues.
  16. How do I check the fusible links? Everything works right now so I'm not sure how to go about checking... Its still idling low need to sort that out too, could the timing belt be a tooth off and still run?
  17. I don't get it! Today it died then i fucked with stuff and wiggled everything unhooked the battery then re connected it and it started again. SO CONFUSED What could this be...
  18. Checked codes got 5 short.... Told me my car was from Canada :|
  19. Its SPFI don't think I'll have one of those. Going to go check it out now see if she starts...
  20. Forgot to mention my dipstick holder bolt broke so the dipstick and holder are just floating in there. Could this cause pressure issues?
  21. So frustrated. Started today multiple times no problem but was idling super low so now were onto idle issue... I think it actually may be a battery thing as when the car is around 500rpm the charge light comes on. Thing idles at around 400 rough and wants to die but at 1000+ runs smooth. AHHHHHHHHHHH I really hope it starts tomorrow so I can go grab this other battery I've got.
  22. Its weird because it ran for 10 minutes and now just won't start so I'm skeptical to attack the belts again. I agree I don't think battery is the problem.
  23. Had it running last night was having trouble idling and died on me once. When I was first starting it the car would die if I didn't hold my foot on the gas, then was fine. This morning it won't start at all. Made an attempt at a push start fired up for a second but wouldn't keep running. Did I put the belt on wrong? Could a low battery cause this?
  24. Better than not having a place to take it apart to begin with! Still haven't asked about it hopefully I can make it happen
  25. If it had quads I'd keep em! Thanks for the extensive list. I'm going to do my best to keep it but I'll be storing at work (scrap yard) and if I leave it too long I'm sure my boss will scrap it for me! I'm not at a car yard and there isn't a ton of space and my apt building only lets me have one space, and I'm pushing it since I also park my motorcycle in a different area! I'm going to just leave the stuff in my spot so I'll likely just keep as much as possbile.
