Anyone have any experience with chopping an oil pan down? Can't find a good measurements of where to cut just that people have done it. Looking to get the pan higher up so I can get some clearance and protect it better.

Stainless Steel Brake Lines 88GL
jread replied to YnotDIY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those lines look good from the 02 Impreza and much cheaper then the ones I had made for 100 bucks. Any idea how much they'd have to be lengthened with a lift? I guess 4" for a 4" lift but my next question is is there somewhere that lists the line stats so I can find a part number for one with similar fittings thats 4" longer? and on the right side of the fitting! -
Fuel Pump goes on with headlights
jread replied to jread's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Going to sell it as is... Its runs fine just have to know the trick. I will let the new owner know what the issue is and tell him he should just rewire the fuel pump, he likely won't have to run new lines just fix the one from the ecu to fuel pump. -

Thats whats fucked up here.... Apparently yours turns the fuel pump on via another device. Mine does it through the ECU... This is a bit of a codswallop up. -

So weird. Maybe I did wire something wrong but I was pretty sure I just grounded it better. Can't find where I changed it but will look again. -
Fuel Pump goes on with headlights

Ahh well. The fuel pump relay was all in the harness you sent me... So not sure how it could get screwed up. -

I went out and took another look but still dont know how I can mix a headlight and fuel pump relay they both sit in sperate groups with separate plugs. -

Must be what i did... I don't understand how that fucks up though because 4 wires go into each relay... Unless I switched physical wires how does it cross over... -

Ok. So more news today. Pretty sure the running lights aren't working but the headlights are. Not really sure why these two are related though! I don't think its a short something must be plugged in wrong. Could the pinnouts be different on the large connectors from one year to another? -
Recently I bought a DL Quad beam setup with the intention of getting some brighter lights on my car! Ideally I'd pick up these in high and low https://www.amazon.com/JW-Speaker-8800-Evolution-Headlight/dp/B00X6BYMIQ but they are wildly expensive so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. Has anyone done anything similar? I was also looking at these housings. http://www.highperformancelighting.ca/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=124_126&products_id=559%20review and getting some LED or HIDs to put in them. The only fear I have is blinding oncoming and also getting a VI. Really don't want to be that guy but would like some brighter lights. Can someone recommend a cheap way to get some brighter lights that don't blind the public.

Yeah I'm only going to have 1" difference. 4" up 3 down but if I'm spending money and doing the work then I might as well buy something that will work best.
-
I'd find an OEM but was wondering if this was a better product especially aince I'll be lifting. That diagram is almost enough to convince me but would love to hear a few more reviews.
-
Anyone used these? I know everyone recommends rebuilding OEM but I saw these and they look beefier. Worth the extra money? http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6586008&cc=1270156&jsn=357

Yeah it is. I want to get rid of it! Making it run cause no one was that interested for parts. How did I mis wire the relay? they are wired to there own connectors? -

Have a weird problem I have a 1993 Subaru Loyale, I EJ swapped it then found a GL with a dual range and transferred everything over. Got a new wiring harness because I had cut the old one up and am converting the Loyale back. Everything is back together but the issue is the fuel pump only goes when the headlight switch is on and it runs constantly. Normally it would cycle when you turn the key to on. It no longer cycles it just doesn't run unless I turn the headlights on. I'm lost I have no idea how something like this happens.

2 diff rim widths on Loyale... bad idea?
jread replied to Pokey's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ive got some 14" Peugeot alloys if youre interested. -
So the connector on the left was a no go grounded or not. Traced the yellow red to the connector behind the fuse box and taped in there. Works perfectly now.
-
So this never ended and I'm having the same trouble. Didnt have it with my loyale but my go just won't rev past 4500. Ive connected it to the same connector but have a code for no vss. Anyone know where the wire is in a carbed 86 GL?

Yeah I know. I'm just wondering maybe I acrewed up a power or ground in the swap. I have the cover off and the assembly looks fine which is why I'm confused.
