I know the thread says 89-94 or something similar but we don't have any pick and pulls and I haven't been able to find one. There is currently a 2004 available and looks relatively similar and I think I read something about them working with a little extra work but I can't remember.
-
So the original problem I think was the alternator and its finally kicked it. I charged the battery at the same time as the throttle body clean, forgot to plug my fuel pump back in when I posted last plugged it in and I drove for about 200km and I'm dead again. Charged the battery off someone's car couldn't make it far enough now I'm stuck again. Was thinking of doing the maxima alternator swap, will a 2004 one work, or is it just up to 94?

So I'm getting no spray into the throttle body. I cleaned everything up in there tested the resistance on the injector everything checked out but no fuel still. The line that doesn't go to the filter seems to be getting no fuel so I assume there is something jamed but not sure where. When I pulled off the filter looking thing attached to the throttle body no air would pass through in any of the three directions. Is this normal?

Just checked the tube from the tank to see if its got rust, none. I have three small inline filters all rusty on the outside but didn't seem problematic the first time I looked at them.

Country code haha Looked for cracked and loose hoses, there is a few looseish ones but nothing cracked, can't start it so don't know how to check for leaks. Also just got a friend to spray some carb cleaner in the intake and the car sputtered and started for a second, reved as he gave it a squirt or two, then died. I'm assuming now that it is a fuel supply issue, the only thing I'm confused about is that the pump seems to be buzzing and fuel is in the lines.

I don't know what it is then! Guess I'll keep looking maybe try and test the gas pressure because spark is hapenning. Might fiddle with ignition timing as well in case its a bit off.
-
Oh also suspecting an alternator problem... It was displaying parking light, check oil, and charge lights lightly while driving. Would this stop a car from starting, even with spark?
-
Also doesn't seem to be the timing belt, checked it and seems to be right.

Other day my car died going up a bridge. Managed to push it over the top and to somewhere safe with a friend to get a tow. It was starting momentarily and would keep running if I reved to 3000+ It was bogging down super hard while driving before dieing and had been running great before then. Currently it won't even fire up, I've read that it could be dist and rotor so I've already replaced that with no luck. I've got spark (at least one cylinder 1), gas seems to be flowing, and my air filter seems fine. Going to do more reading but if anyone has any suggestions to speed things up I'd appreciate it.

Thats what I'm reading and hearing so I've told the seller I'm not interested because the EJ project is already a long one and I don't think I want to make it impossible!
-
Did some looking seems really unrealistic sadly. $400 seems like a deal.
-
Yeah not sure what the engine problem would be. Low compression on one cylinder... Could be a number of things I assume. Basically can get everything I need from the car I just need to figure out how much work it is to make it fit. You're making the LHD problems seem like not that much of a problem, I'm going to look into it more now. As for the transmission I'd likely sell it and just buy an adapter plate for an EA 4x4 transmission or buy another manual one. The issue with getting into the trans game is I need to get a hold of xt6 parts. Totally want to but very unavailable up here.
-
Also its 45000km and he said people are interested in the tranny and turbos already so I would probably not be spending much after selling those. At work ATM but will do more searching when I'm home. If 400 seems fair I may jump on it.
-
He wants 400 with tranny and turbos ECU ect. Seems pretty cheap but not sure what the repairs would cost. But if it doesn't fit then its kind of irrelavent. Found out what was wrong with one cylinder its only got 35psi vs 155 for the rest. What kind of modification will I have to do? I guess all the pedals are in the wrong places so that will be a ton of work, then chopping some things away? Also when you say standalone that means buying a single turbo and installing that?
-
These are the items I can take, I assume I can take the wiring harness since he seems like he wants the body parts You can take: Engine Transmission Automatic 4WD ECU Turbos Intercooler Differential Drive Shaft / Proper Shaft Down Pipe Coil Packs MAF Sensor / Air Flow Meter Alternator Starter A/C Compressor Power Steering Pump Intake Manifold Exhaust Manifold Throttle Body

http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/bnc/pts/5177709742.html Found this today wondering what a fair price for this would be and if it would be a good candidate for a swap into a loyale? Or will it be too big and will it be too powerful? Have been thinking about doing it and this seems like the seller might let it go pretty cheap.
-
I have a 93 Loyale and wondering if anyone else is bothered by the tiny pitch rod on it and if anyone has put in or made a stronger one? I really hate how the car shakes when I'm coming on and off the gas, its not terrible but it could be less.

EA82 5 Lug Swap - with notes and variations

No answer from him so probably won't head out for it. Bummer but I have 20 hours of driving to do so I should just get it done! Anyone in Vegas need a ride to Portland? -
EA82 5 Lug Swap - with notes and variations
jread replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't mean to bring back an old thread but how long would it take for someone who's mechanically inclined to pull all the parts necessary for the swap? Passing through Tahoe tomorrow and might try and just snag the parts off this car http://www.subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13789 Is this something I can knock out in an afternoon if every bolt isn't seized on? -

Another Ignition Relay Question

Also for any future readers who really don't get relays this helped me understand what the diagrams mean. http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/hweb2.pdf -

Sweet just going to buy a $5 30amp relay. Seems like a much better option than spending 25! -
Another Ignition Relay Question
jread replied to jread's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Basically the ignition switch wears out and makes it hard to start, because its old it doesn't have a relay so adding one in works perfectly.
