  1. The JB weld tips are encouraging . . .tempted to do this just for fun and see how JB holds up. I met a tractor guy who JB'd a plate to the block where cylinder 4 had broken through. This piston removed and tractor ran on 3 cylinders for years!
  2. Great advice . . . . .thanks! Any idea what year range of manifolds will fit my '94 Legacy EJ22?
  3. Just cracked a 94 Legacy Intake manifold, will most years fit? This engine was not a California car and I will need to CARB this car in order to smog it in California - do I really need a California intake, what is the difference between a California intake and others? I ask because I see these intakes listed this way on EBay . . thank you!
  4. Thanks, somewhere, I was advised to used two gaskets when going with the phenolic spacer . . . I will pull intake tomorrow to see flange crack, I have a feeling that piece will come off in my hand when I remove . . . JB weld? Really? I know the stuff is strong . .
  5. 2/4 bank did just fine this way - used two gaskets on each side (one on each side of phenolic spacer)
  6. All were snugged lightly then torqued centers first alternating and then outers. It cracked around 18 foot pounds . . . Engine is out of a '94 Legacy. Thanks!
  7. I've had my intake off for weeks and had cleaned it, painted it and made 8mm phenolic spacers. Today, while torqueing down the flange bolts (new longer bolts with antiseize) I heard the unmistakenable "ting" and saw that the flange bolt closest to cylinder one by timing cover had cracked! I was torqueing to just 20 foot pounds when this happened and was torqueing in sequence. WTF! Is this common? Should I have it welded or just throw away and find a new intake? Some days . . . . . grrrrrrrrrrr
  8. I have a '94 Legacy EJ22 and need to disconnect ECU - anything I need to know about removing connectors other than being careful? Are there clips? My connectors are yellow, do they simply pull straight out or are there clips to compress, etc.? Thank you!
  9. So far, it seems that a brown ground wire is common for most years for #1 which then automatically establishes #3. What color wires do you have for #2 and #4? Thank you!
