did they make a diesel version in 88 and are they worth it?

my 88 wagon has house paint on it ,i think it is latex,i hope, the kid tried to paint the car because he didn't like the color of the car or he was ticked off at his mother don't know which. how do i get the paint off without ruining the paint and rust underneath?

is it safe to pressure wash the engine in my 88 wagon provided i get no water in the dist and alt. i don't have the battery hooked up yetor can i even steam clean it.its covered with grease and out from years of neglect and lack of proper maintainance.

what is the difference between ea81 and ea82?

thanks that helps a lot i just replaced the lower ball joints and brake pads and did a tuneup before the axle broke, wanted to change one put she wanted both changed lost one axle somewhere (stolen,bad neighborhood),took the other one out to change because it had no boot got screwed over by napa(they couldn't or wouldn't find it on there computer). now i get to change the brake parts including the calipers and hoses. only need them on one side but will change both to be safe. use to have a 91 sub legacy just before they went awd bought it for 300 bocks because i was told it had a bad tranny only had one gear in an auto found out it was the tranny brain box 5 bucks at pull and save did a tune up,new timing belt,new shocks and struts ran smooth and quiet.was driving through spokane got t boned by a woman on the cell phone. man i miss that car.

part of mine is the switch because the lady i got the car from has bratty kids who couldn't get the fan working so they beat on the switch until it broke (temper,temper.)

my caliper broke because i towed without axles in my 88 sw do i just have to replace the calipers and rotors,the brakes were dragging and the rotor got red hot and the brakeline broke when the wheel went sideways and brake fluid is flamable.i put it out with water from the mud puddle along side of the road lots of fun next time use a tow dolly,50.00 dollars a day,less stress.

do they still sell fan speed switches for a 88 sub sw or what will interchange?

my defrost fan doesn't work,i have a newer fan(junkyard special) it also needs a resistor pack for speed control,where can i get one new,or can i make an electronic one?

so the 88 4wd has the smaller 23 spline or the 25 spline i need the smaller input end of the driveline

i know this is an old thread but i just wanted to give my two cents worth. when i rebuilt my fathers 99 legacy motor i went all oem and took my time and no leaks but oem is cost more but it is worth it bought my parts a import auto in cour'd alene

found out it is not good to tow a subaru without the axles installed,the only thing holding the wheel on is the caliper bolts. next time i bwill use a tow dolly it is a real pain to put a suub on a tow dolly with one wheel laying horizonal.

i bought a 88 subaru gl sw that was missing the front axles went to the parts store to buy new axles and when i got home the outer part fit but the inner part was to large,took the axles back and was told there was only one size and they didn't change,huh that doesn't sound right it is an 88 subaru gl sw w/4wd 5 spd manual that has a button on the shift handle,help napa won't take the axles back said it was my mistake,and it is fifty miles to town.
