Will 2nd Gen BRZ Ever Happen?
Subasaurus replied to MR_Loyale's topic in BRZ and its Sister the Scion FRS/Toyota GT86
all of our old subarus are ugly, you gotta admit it, the EA82 is funky looking, the vehicle on my profile picture, the back is hideous, why do we like our old subarus so much that they become pretty to our eyes only? cuz their unique and don't see one on the road like you would a civic, but blah blah drama drama with new vehicles, but one thing is for sure, i HATE new cars, i hate the plastic, i hate the 5specialty tools to just change an air filter (exagerration) i hate the styling on new vehicles, looks like an egg going down the road, especially the FIAT, im just glad i think all the new vehicles are ugly as hell so i woun't be tempted to buy one and the old vehicles look amazing and actually have personality and style. oh and did i mention not having to be in debt for 7years with an ugly plastic disposable car? so i thank all of you on this forum for owning an old gen subaru and keep those hideous ugly cars going! -
Rubbing brakes and other stuff

also maybe i should let you know on this also, i think the hill holder only grabs the front right (passenger) and back left (drivers) those are the tires that locked up on mine, not sure if only half of my hill holder failed or thats how the hill holder works. i know subarus braking system is a diagonal whatchamacall it, for safety incase you break a line you pump the brakes and 2 wheels will still grab. -

like you bleed brakes, theres a 10mm i think on the front brake caliper, little rubber plug (if it still has it) thats where the fluid will come out -
Would be nice to see pictures of it, like yesterday... so BUMP

about your wheel not spinning freely, not sure if the 93 had a hill holder but it might be going out, mine would rub alittle when driving and it stumped me, 2 days later it just grabbed as tight as it could and would not release no matter what unless i released the pressure (brake fluid) and thats when i discontinued it, good luck! -

yeah guess you got a point there, it shoots us in the leg either way. -
my understanding is subaru stopped producing 4WD vehicles in 1992ish, D/R transmission stopped in 1990, and AWD came on the late 1989 legacy, standard AWD on all subarus in 1997ish. but this is all North American Market, i know subaru kept making 4WD and even EA71's well into the 2000's in other countries. so i don't know what Greece got from subaru. the one that can help you with this is "Loyale 2.7 Turbo", he knows his accessories and parts and standard equipment and optional features for other countries very well.

4WD is when all 4 tires turn at the same rate, meaning if you try to turn on dry pavement, you either do damage to your differential/transmission or your tires will jump around since one is spinning faster than the other, 4WD is more for offroad purpose than anything, if you try to use it in bad weather, from my understanding you can actually have less control over your vehicle on pavement than just left in FWD. AWD is a transmission that has slip, perfect vehicle that will be driven on pavement and bad weather and light offroad uses, this transmission type is fine to do turns on dry pavement and in bad weather actually increases your handling, if one tire turns faster than the other, the slip transmission (AWD) will take care of it, now wear and tear im not sure but im sure the 4WD is probably more ridged than the AWD, but then again, you take the 4WD to offroading capabilities while the AWD should stay on pavement most of the time. Remember, this is Subaru 4WD and AWD, there are many types of 4WD and AWD other companies make, they are all different, so don't try to use this knowledge on other makes of auto.

i love subaru's quality, they dont care about luxury, just build quality to the engine, me personally i hate plastic and new vehicles (1995ish and up) also thats another reason why im still sticking with the older cars is payments for 5-7years, i couldn't do it, but my favorite part about the crosstrek is the rims, i sure do like them alot.

could i get someones opinion on those 4sealed headlights? i have the big beam (1985-1990) think their 9004 that came on GLs and 10's and early loyales, im still waiting at the junkyard for a pair to arrive to change mine out, i just find the DL's quad headlights really cool, someone tell me otherwise not to do it? has anyone swapped their headlights for the older basic version? sorry for getting off topic here but its a project im pretty much down for once the part arrives. also i do know i need the back bracket, parking lights and i think a decoration trim between the headlight and grill, just need someones opinion that owns the quads. -
ah your talking about the other ones close to the A arm, isn't it just a piece of metal, like a miniature tube, look at a junkyard and see which one is the one in the best condition and grab that one, but both of my vehicles looked fine on that piece, man how hard has that vehicle been driven for the metal tube bushing to be gone, im sure you have no rubber either then.

the only reason i got them that cheap is because they don't exist here and everyone here drives the most common vehicle (corrolla, accord, civic, f150) in the 2 years ive owned my wagon, ive still not seen another, had to travel 180miles to get my parts donor vehicle. awesome to have an old unique car but very bad when something breaks on it :/ -

their not suppose to sell this high, ive seen a brat for sale with a cyclops eye for 1,500 and then another that is in worser condition for 4,000. people are trying to sell them at collectors value, and its stupid, they shouldn't be over 3,000. i picked up a wagon for $200 and another one for $350 both running with minor issues but only because the wagon part is chopped off, its worth an additional 5grand. thats why i stay in the wagon section and not the pick up. -
mine made so much noise it was annoying on the road, it was just metal on metal, ended up replacing the sway bar whole out of my donor vehicle since i couldn't find a way to remove the rubber bushings, maybe when the rubber is new you can squeeze it in there but 30years later their as hard as a rock and have no flex to remove them, you can remove the sway bar out of the vehicle by only removing a tire and the skid plate including the smaller skidplate in the back, just gotta do alot of twisting and turning to do it the lazy way (me) good luck!

computer maybe? thats all i can think of, try a different computer box.

learn to drive a manual, lots of benefits from engine braking to clutch last 200,000miles, engine stays cooler since its not stealing antifreeze from the radiator to basically having multiple transmissions in one, a gear goes out oh well, you use the others till you can fix it, get full power from the engine to wheels, not stressing the engine when stopped at a light by holding it back, more control over your vehicle (engine) i can go on and on but you get the point, swap in a manual, autos are slow compared to the manual, and if you can find a D/R transmission, HUGE +++, have fun!

okay i learned quite a bit, ive always had this issue where the 3,000 and 4,000rpm section when it lights up has this ugly dark gap and ive taken it apart and no bulbs are out, checked on my parts/donor vehicle and has the same ugly issue, i guess i know what my next project is going to be!!

what if i crash? which vehicle am i safer in?
Subasaurus replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
every car does poorly on side impact than front collision, thats the weakest point on a vehicle, on any vehicle, but about the frameless doors, i like them but i dont like them, they do feel cheap when you open them and close them now 30years later, im sure when it was new it sounded right, when the window is rolled down the door sounds flawless and latches perfectly but the seals are pretty sad and old, but frameless windows do look cool when things work correctly. -

i thought only the mid trim and top of the line early imprezas did, 1995 became mandatory standard airbags including passenger also, but if you got the complete base model in 93 and 94, im pretty sure it came without a steering wheel airbag. and i wouldn't be surprised if the wagon does poorly on the side impact, skinny little doors it has, and theres no "tube" in the door, ive noticed my impreza had this tube inside the door when changing the speakers. -

a base model impreza is rare? mine is base everything including manual windows and manual transmission, even no tape player (added that later to listen to my ipod), i have an L trim impreza, thought L=luxury (power stuff and auto) and S=sport (fog lamps) took me forever to find the foglights for my vehicle, B=Base but this was never placed on the back of the vehicle (who would want to show off a Base?) but i dont get whats so luxurious about my vehicle besides the interior being gold, which after like about 20 first gen imprezas at the junkyard in the last 2 years, i haven't found a gold interior impreza EVER, still looking for the arm rest :/ im about to just put a black/gray armrest and say screw matching anymore. and im at 240,xxx and its still fine and flawless. i gotta admit, the EA82 gives me a problem every 2months or so but the EJ gives me problems less than once a year, if any now..
