82 Brat gas tank hose connections
Subasaurus replied to Miatadude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the fuel line, the return and vapor should be on the front. exactly where im not sure.. whats it doing underneath like that? has your tank been modified or repaired? also finding a shop manual for old gen cars like these is getting harder and harder to find. -
The mystery of the green switch.....
Subasaurus replied to that one kid's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
its probably a switch to release the welds on the jumpseats in the back, or better yet, a nitrous switch, he just hasn't found the Nitrous bottle yet. -
ive never had any issues with the CV axles themselves, usually when one goes out, i look at the boots and they've always been torn, now with one exception with a remanufactured one i got was wobbly as hell on the highway, talk about dangerous, but keep those cv axles greased up!

drilling hubs and wheel/tire sizing
Subasaurus replied to lostalfos's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
OP did say he was afraid if he drilled holes it would make the rim weaker, then again i dont know how mazda rims look like anyways.- 26 replies

it does not have a small hump like the later ea82's, its a whole rainbow almost over the whole dash, has the modern guages if that helps any, and by modern i mean it has a tachometer, and yes its a 5speed, guess someone did do something to it some 30years ago. and dual range didnt exist yet right?? because i thought all these early subarus had a lever to put it into 4x4 but d/r was non existant on subaru still

coil spring ID colors - add yours please
Subasaurus replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
bump for interest! but no really thats some pretty deep detail there, would have never known the sedan and wagon coils dont go together, learn something new everyday. -
yeah that was a pretty good idea, like what I75eya said, would have never thought of that, my revs are pretty bad on the highway also, i think everybody that owns these old subarus have it, unless you modify something to put bigger tires, also i gotta ask, where are those wheel covers from?? i saw a set on ebay about 6months ago but sold for a ridiculous $280. are they just aftermarket or is it from some rare subaru or car that fits subaru?

wait i have a 1979 subaru DL 5sp manual 4x4, dual range didnt exist yet i think. dont know why it was called DL back then if its the top of the line model with quad circle headlights, powersteering, factory A/C and a right rear view mirror, so im confused, why did subaru not do a 1981 5sp then? if they did it just fine in 1979 on the EA71? has mine been frakensteined too?!?! lol

drilling hubs and wheel/tire sizing
Subasaurus replied to lostalfos's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
redrilling the rims is pretty risky, if you bought those new, the chances of you succeeding are slim, its been done successfully and theres a post about it somewhere on here but anyways, if you screw up on the hub and your going down the highway and its bouncy, well just get another hub but if you screw up the rim, there goes all the money you spent on them, im in no need to search for rims since i found the high midtrim rims, (H rims they call them) i like them and being 13" tires, it doesnt scare me to buy new ones when it needs them again compared to anything bigger.- 26 replies

How Do You Make A Reverse Blinker?
Subasaurus replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thank you so much for your time to draw me a schematic, i didnt get to the project this morning since i was swapping shocks from a loyale to my gl since the loyales shocks seem to be higher, but yeah ill just wait for your schematic before starting, take ur time! -
How Do You Make A Reverse Blinker?
Subasaurus replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah like a dodge ram or ford f150, the left and middle work as brakes but the blinker overruns the brake and the right one starts blinking, but yeah i was thinking overnight and i think i have to leave the virgin switch in the on position for me to have blinkers in the front... -
Help Deciding Loyale's Fate
Subasaurus replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah thats what i was thinking too, valve seals, or valve stems or watever you want to call them, i am parting the car out for my gl, due to the fact that emissions just became really strict here in texas starting in march of 2015, i already swapped the back and front bumper around, seats, and today im swapping all 4shocks since the loyale looks alittle sharper being 2-3inches higher than my gl. -
How Do You Make A Reverse Blinker?
Subasaurus replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
interesting, okay, that was confusing but i can probably work with it, ill get to that project tomorrow morning finally, ive seen some american vehicles with that blinking system before but never on an import, thanks alot!! -
im sorry if this already exists elsewhere but i literally could not find anything about it including on the internet, if anything, it thinks im searching for a back up light switch, if one post already exists, please direct me to it. ive been wanting to do this project for quite some time now but i literally don't know where to start, i want my blinker to turn off and on instead of on and off, ive been running my car with the amber lights on for about 2 years now and using the corner parking light as my blinker, law seems fine with it so i want to step it up a notch, i want my amber lights to blink off and then come back on as i have it on with the virgin switch, and have my parking light on all the time once again like it should be. is there a kit where a small computer can do this online? the only thing i can think of is a double relay but that means that atleast one relay must be on all the time and ill end up with a dead battery anyways, if that idea even works. any help is greatly appreciated!!! thank you.

glad i always ran with fan speed 4 or off, even though 1,2,3 work just fine, something about me just made me always run on 4 or off, glad ive been doing that now

front corner lights: broken mounts
Subasaurus replied to wagonist's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
not sure if ill be much help but next time your at the junkyard, look for an older than 8/89, i have one manufactured in august of 1989 and one in december of 1989, and trust me the one that takes 2 looks so much more beautiful at night then the single big bulb one, infact i drilled a hole on the single corner parking light so it would light up like the other. -Omar -

Help Deciding Loyale's Fate
Subasaurus replied to Subasaurus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yes very rare even down here some of the 90's subies already have rust and thats in texas, my 79 DL Wagon has alittle rust on the passenger wheel well and its been in texas its whole life, pretty sad since their interesting looking cars, but ill check on the throttle body gaskets since theres so many of them right there, and thats why it hurts me to part out this blue car since its compleately rust free like my tanish looking wagon, but thanks for the info! -
