Need Driver Side Window on 1980 Brat.
Subasaurus replied to Subasaurus's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
thank you! let me know please currently the brat is just sitting in the backyard with a bag taped on the window teleporting into the future as the days go by now undriven. -
Lol! I posted this when I was in a rush, the sleeve came with no chapstick when I got it, that’s my own, I’m not that barbaric now... the sleeve was found outside of target parking lot, that’s all I know. not like it matters much at this point anymore, my gf took it from me and put it on her keychain, so now I really need to find more!!!
-
does anyone know where to find these? one of my coworkers had one on their keychain, i asked her about it, she said she found it on the street a few weeks ago, doesn't care much for it so she gave it to me just like that, but this one will eventually wear out in a few months, does anyone know where this even came from and where i could buy like 10 more as spares? i've looked on Ebay for a few days now and theres nothing that even looks like this sleeve to start with, let alone Subaru across it

i damaged my first set by installing one of the brake pads backwards, im such an idiot, metal on metal, i was tired and it was late at night when i did it, put me back $250, but found some new old stock disk brakes on ebay a few weeks later, haven't seen another set come up new since 2015, still keeping an eye out!

before i first started driving i used to go to the junkyard with my dads friends around 2005-2008, i remember seeing a few first gen subarus, a few more second gens and a whole bunch of 3rd gens.. like 4-6 at one time. now only about one 3rd gen comes in every 2 years. pretty sad...
-
those look like pre 1987ish logo mats, right? never seen such old ones before with logos on them.
-
although i no longer have a third gen, my first gen is currently running 155/60 R13 with white walls, i had such a hard time finding anything 13inch local that i just ordered them online, some strange branded tires i've never heard of before, but they've been fine for the last year, so im happy with that since the fastest i've ever been able to push the brat was 82mph on a downhill, sooo yeah anything pretty much works for it.
-
where did you find the beauty rings at? or are those the originals?
-
instead of modifying such a new vehicle, why not just buy one of those fake snap in seat belt things on ebay? it's just the end piece of the seatbelt that clicks in to fool the vehicle thinking you're buckled in.
-
any steering play? balljoints? lift a wheel off the ground and see if it has any play, check to see if they are the original balljoints. pictures would help alot as Moosens has stated, how much seat wear, seatbelt, and the rubber on the pedals, original clutch cable? originals seem to always go out around that mileage if it is truly at 75,000mi. alittle harder to tell with this one but check the brake pads and see if they're still the original with the fuji heavy industries stamped logo, but that's not a guarantee either. a 75,000 mile brat is very possible since mine is only at 68,500miles right now.

are you making the best of all 3 into 1? i think you came out ontop due to the abundance of parts! as long as you can make atleast 1 brat out of everything that is fairly complete and running good. you'll be able to drive the brat for many years to come thanks to the extra parts from the others if 1 brat is all you're going after (which i highly recommend) ***if you have an extra set of mudflaps i'll be interested in buying them from you?

1 in Texas, i can confirm.

last time i saw a Justy was at the junkyard 7 years ago, when i didn't know much about Subarus, wish i would have appreciated it more...

my friends are constantly riding in the back of mine, i've only ridden in them once since im usually the driver, it was actually quite enjoyable and relaxing going 65mph down the highway, it does get awkward staring at someone at a redlight though. in Texas you're allowed to ride in the bed of a pickup as long as it's below 40mph, so pretty much not the highway, i've had 3 different police vehicles trail behind me when i have my friends in the back, they stare hard, follow for a few minutes, then break away, not sure really why, twice on the highway and once on surface streets... the brat is a "pickup truck" in other countries but not a "pickup truck" in the U.S. due to the title saying passenger vehicle thanks to the extra 2 seats. and yes, they have lap belts in the back, mine have been jammed since the day i got it, so they're just decoration, but you're probably suppose to be buckled in due to the fact that it's considered passenger vehicle and the vehicle came with belts originally, it's a 2door car with 2 seats in the back, with a wall inbetween, with the seats facing the wrong way like a 60's Volvo, and then there's no roof, even though thats the least of my worries.... the headrest is more of a backrest, the rollbar is a nice comfortable headrest for breaking your skull open, and relaxing your head to the side introduces you to some healthy slamming onto your skull. im sure one day i'll get pulled over and i'll have to explain to the judge that this is how the car left the dealership.

definitely not offtopic! thank you for the info i had no idea about

same overhere in Texas, NEVER seen any Subaru older than 1991, i've seen 1 Loyale in the wild before, but had Colorado Plates so still unsure if that counted. only 2 1970's Subaru i've ever seen with my own eyeballs and those are the ones i currently own. same for 1980's Subaru's, ever only seen 4 in my life, and i also happen to own all 4 of those. perhaps it's me that keeps picking all of them up... oops.
-
oh interesting, never knew that! then i have no idea why it's 4 doors then, unless they took the Outback and chopped it like they did the GL Wagon and made a Brat? if that's not the case, then it was dumb to not provide a 2 door variant with a longer bed.
-
Chicken Tax, that's why the Baja has 4 doors, still in effect today btw. most pickups are 4 doors out there or atleast extended cabs with seats in the back, even if they face sideways (that practice is now illegal because in a front collision, seatbelts won't do anything, so auto manufacturers need to find another loophole), auto makers don't like selling 2 door pickups, too much tax to pay if they're not built in the USA, which most aren't.
