  1. 160000 seems pretty low for an 89 Not sure what is supposed to go here. Its on the driver side up by the firewall Engine bay. No spare tire though.
  2. does the same go for pictures? I tried using the <image> button in the options but it told me that I could not use the file extension I tried using from photobucket.
  3. Another update. I went out to take some pictures and I notice a little red light on the dash. Started messing around with it and low and behold peeled some electrical tape off where the check engine light was and it was on. The shady things some people do to hide the check engine light.
  4. So I am assuming by your post I should just go ahead and do an oil change and replace the oil pump seal and hope that it fixes the ticking noise. I took a video and everything so once I figure out how to add those I will. I plan on doing an oil change using 10W-40 oil and a Bosch oil filter. Tranny fluid is another thing I am planning on but I have to be able to afford it first. I think figuring out the ticking noise should take priority.
  5. Just looked up the VIN and it looks like I got lucky and have the 4EAT tranny
  6. I am unsure what tranny I have but I will try the tranny flush and see if that helps. The oil pressure dose drop pretty low but I dont think it gets under 10 psi. I will pay more attention the next time I get it warmed up an see. The guy I bought it from told me he just did a standard tuneup and oil change on it so maybe he went cheap. I will probably go ahead and do an oil change myself here soon. Any guesses as to why it tries to die at a stop? Also I started it up this morning only to have it die right away on me for three times. On the third I gave it a little gas for a while and it stayed running. Left it running for a bit and then started to hear a lifter ticking. Not happy about that right now. PS the previous owner had some issue with the "Start" cycle on the ignition switch and bypassed that to put in a push button for starting. Not sure if that is gonna have an effect on the car or not. And I will take your suggestion about the under hood rubber as soon as I can afford the parts. Waiting to start my new job so money is a little tight right now.
  7. This is my first Subaru. I just bought a 1989 GL Full Time AWD Turbo. I got it for $750 which doesn't seem like that bad of a deal. So far it doesn't seem that bad. a few minor issues (I hope). Shifts kinda hard and the shifting is delayed until 3000+ rpm at times even under mild acceleration. I also noticed that after it warms up it sputters a little at idle and the oil pressure gage drops. And of course there is the electric window issues that I have read about. At least the driver side window seems to work fine, albeit a little slow going back up.
