  1. I have pulled the heads off of 2 different E81 engines. They both had the same size valves. The first was out of a 1981 Brat GL. It had the 2 extra 6mm bolts. The second was out of a 1982 Brat DL. It did not have the 6mm bolts. So, apparently the 2 extra bolts are not the final word on whether a motor has big valves or small valves. The valves measured 35mm exhaust and 40mm intake on both engines. Are these the big valves or small valves? Thanks in advance for any information on valves sizes that anyone can provide.
  2. I have bought 2, a Gen1 and a Gen 2, from Auto Zone and have been happy with both. They were both the carpet kind.
  3. About 25 years ago, I had a Gen 1 Brat ('79 I think) that had a pilot bearing like that.
  4. I took the power steering off of an '83 GL wagon to put on my '82 Brat DL. It was a bolt on swap. I don't have 2 of the 3 holes on the front of the head to mount the pump but the 1 that I do have is working just fine. It's been on the Brat for almost 2 years now and no problems. Even on a vehicle this small, PS is nice to have. Also, the Webber upgrade is well worth it.
  5. I have an '82 Brat that does the exact same thing. Turn right--no problem, turn left and it pulls to the left until I turn right again and it 'fixes' itself. I recently changed from manual steering to power steering. I changed out the rack, the coupler and the whole steering column. The pulling symptoms are unchanged. So changing out those items probably won't help you. My next step is to swap out the struts with the ones from my donor car.
