would you consider that air control valve a fix needed right away? I gotta drive to work tomorrow and am wondering if I should look for other transportation. I'll work on that sequence and get back to you. Thanks for the help. Also I do have the 1994 subaru loyale air control valve. You think that will be the same one? I am looking online to see if it'll match up, but cant seem to find out the info on it.

So I plugged in the white connectors under the hood, which I thought were used to erase the memory, so I could get a fresh start on the OBD codes and diagnose. After plugging them in and turning the key, the code read 12 (Starter Switch or Circuit), 24 (Air control valve or Circuit), and 35 (Purge control solenoid or circuit). I thought that was supposed to get rid of the codes and start fresh, not bring more........Aaaahhhh dog gonnit!

3 long and 5 short which=35. I looked it up and it's saying purge control solenoid/circuit. Only thing is that computer has been reading that since before i swapped out engines and changed the purge solenoid and egr, and doesn't want to go away.

I should probably mention, it's a 1994 loyale with a 1990 loyale engine in it.

My car has recently been having troubles starting lately. Here's the jist: When I start my car it wants to turn over and it does most of the time, but after it starts the RPM's drop down to 0 and it stalls. I start it again and it starts up, but I have to give it a little gas in between each gear so it doesn't stall. After driving for 15 minutes or so, it stops doing it, but it still drops down to 500 RPM (Normally at 1000). I want to get it taken care of sooner rather than it being a bigger issue down the road. I am not sure if this is the issue, cause the OBD trouble code says it is, but I recently swapped out the engine and didn't reset the computer codes. For some reason when I try to reset it, it wont work. Any comments help!

Mechanical oil pressure gauge
jbartle6 replied to jbartle6's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If I took the oil pressure sender out, I assume I'd put the thread adapter right on the engine where I took the oil pressure sender off? If I kept the oil pressure sender, would the T go right up to the engine or somewhere on the sender? Sorry for the dumb/obvious questions, I am a newbie when it comes to working on cars. At least I am trying though . A picture would help if you got one. Thanks-Jack -
Mechanical oil pressure gauge
jbartle6 replied to jbartle6's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Also what oil pressure should I be reading after I set it up? -Thanks -
So I bought a mechanical oil pressure gauge to put in my 90 loyale engine since my dash doesn't have one on my 93 loyale. We did the engine swap recently. Does anyone know if I need to take the whole sender out and put it in there or can I put it somewhere else on the sender. If so what sizing will I need, I don't want to make more trips to the parts shop than needed. It's a far drive.

Replaced a 1993 loyale engine with a 1990
jbartle6 replied to jbartle6's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So we fixed the oil light and it was just a bad connection on it. Still can't figure out why the 4wd isn't working. Everything is connected and in order on it. Any other ideas I should look at to get the 4wd working? -
1993 subaru loyale problems? Help please
jbartle6 replied to tanner_mcguire98's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had the same issue, you need shouldn't need to look under the hood. It should just be under the driver side steering wheel pannel that has a couple screws that you need a phillips to take off. It's just to the left of your fuse box. It is pre-obd, so you need to read the codes on the computer box. Like he said long flashes=10, and short equal 1. Here is link to determine what the code reads. If yours is a single point fuel injection like mine, scroll down to the 88 and later single point and see what it says for the code. If it's multi-point scroll a hair down. Hope this helps! http://www.troublecodes.net/subaru/ -
Replaced a 1993 loyale engine with a 1990
jbartle6 replied to jbartle6's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thank you guys, I'll definitely take a look at those things. The oil sending unit that is on the donor engine is the one from the 93 ("non donor"). I tried both and they both seem to be doing the same thing. -
I own a 1993 loyale and I recently swapped out my 93 loyale engine with a 1990 loyale engine and everything mounted up great. After mounting it up and getting it all running good, I noticed two things that are a little frustrating. 1st-I noticed my oil light coming on when I give it gas in the first 3 gears. I have done the obvious in checking the oil level, which is full since I filled it after putting the new engine in. 2nd, the 4wd button wont work and will not engage. I am wondering if both of these problems are due to wiring differences of the years. I tried putting the old oil pressure gauge (from the 1993) in to see if it would work, and still had the same problem. Prior to switching out the engines, I had no problems with either one of these two issues in both cars. Any ideas, thoughts, info, would be much appreciated.
