shadow said what i was thinking of how to say no wonder i filter some of my info thru him lol there is actually one more besides ms not as cheap or userfriendly in my opinion but you see it mentioned on the turbododge forums a bit i think its called sems or something like it simple engine management or some such thing according to the guys who did it they looked at what ms could and couldn't do and they built that one.. but it costs much much more much much

ECU coolant temp sensor confusion???
oddcomp replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah all talk is correct on location the knock sensor is one wire the coolant is 2 wire i belive.. i found this out the hard way when i wired my megasquirt into the knock sensor instead of teh coolant sensor and then was puzzled why the car was running so rich.. i mean after all the ms thought the car was at -140 degree's......... oops -
Help Me Understand Disty Curves
oddcomp replied to garner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
umm garner do what i did and since it worked.. dam well i might add retard all your high rpm and high boost values to say 20 deg btdc or so i thinki started there and unless your good at watching and listening .. to a screen and the motor get a second person and just slowly increase timing values at each rpm/boost point until you get detonation and hen back it off 1-1.5 degree's took a while but i was more concerned about tuning the high rpm/boost/load range of the map versus the cruise and off boost points what i plan on doing after i get the car on the road again is wiring the wastegate open so i get 0 to little boost and then tuning that range so in theory.. it should be as close to correct as i can get with out time and money for a dyno and might i add having the correct ignition curve is almost useless unless you have your fuel sorta dialed in as you might mistake ignition based deonation for lack of fuel based and then just end up chasing your tail -
and yes with a good megasquirt datalog file you can see the duty cycle of how the injectors are working but thats info is only as good as how the whole system is tuned in other words if your not set to inject enough fuel in the first place to make the max power you could then.. until that point is adjusted then the datalog is useless on duty cycle as it wills till be wrong at least.. thats how i see it but on my 10 psi non intercooled msnedis wagon .. until i hammered it it ran great and got enough fuel finally <stock ecu sucks> but anything say aboe oh. 80 percent or 90 percent throttle and it bogged down casue it was drowning and then i killed he tranny and have not been able to get it running since so at least for now i am pretty much out of the ms tuning game and can only g o on what i have seen when it was running but it would not surprise me much to find out that after intercooling and other things that the stock injectors would not be enough this is also a 230k motor thats orginal as far as i can tell.. so its not gonna make alot of power anyways

oddcomp replied to Dr. RX's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
i 2 want snow.. but only after i get my wagon running i dread my trip to work and back in ice and snow in the front wheel drive turbo minivan with crappy tires and bad struts -
i had a 76 k5 blazer on 44"s i bought a long time back previous owner was a idiot and had mis mathed gears in the front and rear axles i had to pull someone out of my yard "don't ask" and it blew the chain thru the side of the big old cast iron np 205? i think it was this was also a big big mismatch not a small one if your racing or mudding its usually a benefit to have the front geared one step higher than the rear so it ends up pulling the back around in stead of being pushed around better steering ect but only if your on loose surfaces sand mud snow gravel

what part of washington? someone in your area might be able to lend a hand

i have seen a chevy truck running around town with custom made rims so he can run diesel tractor tires <big rig> so he can play in the mud and stuff since those tires are talla nd narrow and usually have deep tread watched him run a mud pit like that.. and man did they work he made tehm himself i found out from talking to him used a lathe to make the centersection and welded it into a exsisting rim then turn down the welds on the lathe till it was all good and solid and fairly balanced and by the way he also ran them on the road as well

Updated oddcomp's MS n' EDIS fuel/DIS
oddcomp replied to a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
actually russ you would have a better chance of passing just tie the ms into the wires under the dash in place of the stock ecu then it alllll loook nice and stock and you can tune the hell out of it just to pass emmissions thats what alot of ,ca people do on the msefi forum so yeah you should be able to see mine run.. was gonna do it out of todays paycheck but garnishment and rent and stuff yay a whole 93 bux to last 2 weeks for food and stuff so no suby this time it looks like yes i can build things and they do work but well ask jerry i am slow mostly due to all the drama that goes on here no i did not ferget you jason sunday's ain't all that good for me remeber :< and yes shadow is the one who helped me get the dam thing running in the first place but i think i mentioned that a few times on this thread hehe now shadow has to work on a 12x12 dual table fuel map that i can import into ms lol the guy who has been doing all the code building for ms has been getting on me aboout my car not running he needs me to test stuff -

HLAs ticking vs fuel economy
oddcomp replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yea it will affect mileage and poerformance my 87 ea82t before i changed the oil pump there was a noticeble power and economy loss when it went into tht "tick" mode mostly cause when a lifter or hla ticks it will not open that valve fully so you lose the ability to get as much fuel and ai rinto the motor as it needs and the same on the exhaust side these and any other motor depend very much on the intake and exhasut valves being able to open at least to stock specification -
