  1. all i can say is .. yay more local people well semi local to me anyways
  2. ok lets see... a: i hit 220 f deg at max boost 10psi.. b: i run the gas i can afford.. cheap... c: even when i had a disty i never had much if any detonation problems now that my motor gets enough fuel with the ms box i do not see or hear any detonation and can run a better timing degree off and on boost i do have a intercooler but its not installed wish i could find my datalogs i did of the stock suby ecu managment of fuel versus what the ms does. anyways it was just a random thing that i thought of what with cracked metal is usually sharp metal and sharpmetal in a cylinder heats up faster ect ect or so according to all my books i have ... good sized stack... about 3-4 feet high i think i have no idea if i have cracked heads .. bet i do when i do eventuall rebuild it i want to solve or correct that problem so i was looking for other theorys on my theory
  3. take it anywhere after the throttle body so intake plenum ect is a good spot put a "T" in one of the lines on the plenum <big spider looking thing just in case> to make more boost yes you need a boost controller
  4. hey look out duck.. oops too late want some tylenol for that pan shaped headache?
  5. i say coolant in #4 and also leaking into one of the oil return holes in the headgasket also since its a ea82t then it has the daul intake ports so it could also be a intake gasket not sealing correctly on the #4 intake port and letting water in
  6. hmm so.. if harley and suby crck heads alot... does that make us all a bunch of crack heads? hmm the mind wanders/wonders./
  7. i had a bit better idea maybe than a punch beating have it tig'd over with extra material added to boot go at it with a sanding rool on a die grinder and make a nice smooth small hump there makes it stronger gets rid of the crack and bring your cr up a itty bitty tiny bit badside is it would also add maybe a tiny bit of restriction to the valve breathing .. maybe depends on how much it was built up
  8. ok that settles it.. you offcially suck now.... but other wise good snag dammm
  9. oh and you will notice your turbo spools much faster and reaches max boost quicker at least you should...
  10. welcome to the world of electronic boost control! heh i wills tick with my apc box <its cheaper by far> or maybe met my megasquirt run boost duty as well hmm... after all i did have some help in creating the boost controller code should put my apc to shame
  11. it just occured to me where a source of detonation might be on ea82t's just a wild theory.. well since almost all ea82t or well any ea82 usually get that crack betweent he valve seats that crack then could become and area where the metal gets a bit hotter on the edges of the crack and poof preignition.. i know sharp edges in the combustion chamber are bad.. and i happened to be randomly thinking about detonationa nd then thought of the subaru between the seats crack thing.. soo.. anyone think i am just insane. on this theory or could it be valid?
  12. well if someone has a couple of dead injectors i could cut them in half with my metal bandsaw maybe one or 2 dead sti injectors might be interesting to compare them thatway..
  13. i have been toying with a mad idea about figuring out a adapter plate to mate a gm 700r4 to a ea82t.. after all the bad spots on the 700r4 where fixed that is
  14. hmm my crank pulley is only regular ratchet tight with no problems even with my edis timing ring on the pulley but i also made sure the "pin" is also in the crank pulley so it sits in one of the cam sprocket holes..keeps the whole mess from slipping when it slips the bolt comes loose heh i have to make sure the pin is in there or else there goes my ignition timing
  15. 4eat not rally a issue same guys that did the ms box also made a electronic tranny box along the same lines... as far as my delusions go wel.. yes they are grand.. and i really want to belive that the first drive i took with fuill ms and edis power.. control... since thats the drive that kille dit took out my already weak /aging 230k mile auto box... with a saab apc and 10 psi boost who knows but to make myself feel nifty i will blame it on more power urr urr urrr dam.. forgot what i was gonna type ... oops oh well its :2:06 pm .. pas t my nap time gotta be up by 7:30 pm maybe i will know wtf i was thinking by then oh yeah.. sorta remebered sumthing i hate fords too.. but at least the edis seems to be a sturdy system thats adaptable oh and i dropped about 500+ miles on the edis system before i broke my tranny oh and northwet... i think i showed you but my apc and my msnedis boxes at both black... so i guess your s.o.l unless you get a diffrent color case lol
  16. ahem ... <pokes calebz for not plugging my efforts one ea82t upgrades> <see my sig below>
  17. so where exactly in washington are you? i seem to have lost my mind reading ability .. temporarily i assure you
  18. eh like i siad.. i think 50 ish .. for a setup around here.. plus my slow shipping
  19. if you really want to do a programmable shift point setup for electronically controlly auto box maybe look into this as a option? http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/megashift/
  20. aside from compressiont ratio issues your next problem would be getting fuel into the system if you did use a 1.8 turbo injection system and computer i would almost bet that the car would run way rich all the but there is always the do it yerself programmable fuel injection system that i run good enough for a 1 cyl lawnmower all the way up to.. welll anything really pretty cheap to build to i mean i was able to afford it
  21. the bang you hear would be the tranny hitting the bottom of the body casue of the crappy tranny mounts i had the same problem in my 3 speed auto when i yanked the tranny out and both mounts came out in 2 pieces... i somehow suspect that it was not intended to be a 2 piece mount setup
  22. lol oops for what ever reason i thought you where talking about a ea82t lol if you follow the link i put up you will see that max psi is fully adjustable
  23. you could always megasquirt it and then run any dam injection you wanted to bolt on it or build for it you could do a blow thru spfi setup that way ... or build your own intake or run dual spfi throttle bodys one for each head ... kinda like a weber ir setup but injected... with dual table code each throttle body would be independandtly controlled based on o2 feedback <one for each head> at least untill you stomp on it then well .. cya! something like that wil ... or shoudl get good mileage as well as have a pretty decent tourque curve to it most ir <independant runner> setups are pretty tourquey
  24. remember not all intercooler's are a positive addition.. some have such crappy flow and efficiency its almost worse
