i suspect they must be the short xt struts as it has the old skool rwd race car rake to it the 150 or lbs of tools in a metal box help even it out a bit but the uneven suspension droop has me a tad concerned i personally would like to get the front up a bit higher no adjustment of anykind tha ti can find
-
my 87 turbo wagon has always had a nose low attitude since i got it <qman's seen it> someone did the regular strut changeover from air but when i changed the front brakes 2 day i noticed a very large diffrence in front suspension droop between the left and right sides any suggestions why one side would not be going down all the way ? i was trying to beat the upcoming rain so i did not spend alot of time poking and prodding

Coolant leaking between Intake Manifold and Engine
oddcomp replied to alcyone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
for my 2 cents i recently worked on a rx with the same problem turned out the intake manifold gasket on the drivers side had gone to crap and was letting coolant into the intake ports and out onto the head as well look around the base the manifold where it bolts to the heads for water streaks or tracks also a good time to replace those itty bitty hoses with the intake off -

Defective Lifter(s) in an EA82 SPFI?
oddcomp replied to jimkup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i know when my left side timming belt went out and threw off the cam timing i had low compression due to valves opening at the wrong time -
now that you mention the above 10 mph thing i know where to get some airspeed type switches that can be adjusted so x amount of airflow turn stuff on or off ... wire it inline with the primary electric fan and when idleing or slow traffic crawling it will come on and once your movig it will turn off with some sort of temp override hmm cool excuse the pun i suspect the fact that my sock engine driver fan what with the hydro thingy pretty much siezed is contributing to the loss of my mileage i am recently experienceing .. that and the fact i can not find evidence of a rebuild on the motor with 209k ... if all goes well on my upcoming 13 days vacation i will be doing a rebuild and prolly some minor balancing, porting ect the fan i hope to do this friday and possibly my oil pump and cam seals getting a random lifter tick thats appearing more and more

it is possible... to turbo a carb.
oddcomp replied to JonOfScio's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i have whats left of a airesearch carbed turbo setup for a 4 barrel buick grand nation <before they went efi> the turbine is shot but the carb mount and stuff is still good for something its meant for a qaudrajet 4 barrel but a small adapter plate could easily be made to mount other carb type onto the mount it also has provsions for water heating and ""gasp"" egr junk i don't imagine it would be too hard to adapt it to any other turbo -
doing some unexpected tinkering i noticed my plastic clutch fan is essentially siezed up and also there are lots of cracks in the blades and since i have this turbo saab sitting here with no use for it and it has electric fans i figure i might as well use one of those and save myself some horsepower to boot now the question is and i have my own idea's whats the best way to hook up the fan besides using a relay of course but should i make it so its on when the car is running or harness it into the temp sensor for the aux electric fan thats already there ?

that stuff would look cool on a computer case not that they would ever hit 500 deg but hey who knows as for removing oil i find doing a acetone or methl ethyl ketone wipe down to work great then a brief rub with coarse scotch brite and another wipe to get rid of the "scotch dust"
-
perhaps look into a programmable fuel injection computer like a megasquirt if your handy with electronics i been wanting to do that with a brat myself if only i had a brat ,welder, cutting torch.ect ect oh and a empty garage

i just got some duplicolor spray on bedliner 6$ and change a can using it on modded computer case just sprayed it on after roughing up the paint with some scotch brite and then using acetone to clean all the dust and grease off case looks kinda neat so far not that i ever plan on hauling loads on my computer case but then again ya never know since its small enough i can use it as my "to go" computer to go fix other peoples computers got the light up fans and window and all i gotta take pics of it when its done and you thought spray on bedliner was just for soobs!!
-
of course no one mentions what happens to those plastic blade pieces when they no longer stay attached to the fan hub do to overspeed explosion lol
-
mines a junkyard downpipe someone had already had made up and added the 3way cat to it its definetly larger than the stock downpipe i am running straight exhaust no muff.. sounds very cool just have a few joint leaks under the car to solve but is relativly decent on the inside at 55mph not very loud
-
your only real problem is ensuring you have enough fuel to go with the nos or you will have a small meltdown from a overlean condition .,.
-
if ya can check on that 4 me then i will think if its possible to somehow get it ... perhaps pay you to pull it and stick it on a pallet?
-
