6" lift and t-case.....on a legacy???
offroadsubaruguy replied to offroadsubaruguy's topic in Off Road
basically, i would either slightly frame it and then t case it, or i would roll cage it. either way i would make everything as high up as possible. meanin i would just cut a hole in the floor for the tcase, and just find some high angle shafts....i dont like the look of the tcase just hanging out in the middle of the car being a serious low point... -
just wondering, has anyone yet considered this option????? i really would like to try it, but its going to take me a really, really, really long time to get everything together..... so, what would i need to do this???? other than the obvious........
-
i'll have to post a pic later, but i have a 90 legacy wagon with 27" kumho m/t's, outback struts, and a light bar on the front end. mods are a lightweight flywheel from act, a weapon r intake, a borla header with a stromung track pipe, and a single chamber muffler. soon to have the scorpiopn outback lift springs on it, and a whole lot more lights. i'll get pics as soon as possible.
-
compatible? yes. easy? not so much... it would require alot of the loyale parts to make it work... flywheel, clutch, and the driveshaft would have to be changed.
-
the whole rear end will need to be replaced. subframe, hubs, you will also need a awd tranny, a rear diff and a driveshaft from an impreza, as well as halfshafts....and pray that the gas tank isnt different too.....

Post Swap My Outback is Possessed
offroadsubaruguy replied to msmithmmx's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
you could always just dissengage it, and leave it....... just a thought.... -
cool, thanks for the info guys!!!
-
i was thinking of doing an ej tranny as well as the motor, more possibilities for tweakage......
-
has anyone done a ej fwd to an ea81 fwd swap??? just curiuos.....could be fun......
-
which junkyard???? might be interested in a second lsd......
-
yes, but then again all of subarus 2.2 have been ej motors. you wont have to trade out the tranny unless you plan on doing the dual range swap. all ej motors will work with all ej trannies..... kinda makes you wonder why all car companies dont do that........
-
just pick up a 2.2 shortblock, and get some 2.5 heads.... instant dohc 2.2

Pulling a dual range & throwing it in an OBS
offroadsubaruguy replied to Andyjo's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
your also going to need a clutch pedal... since you are switching from auto to manual, your car doesnt have one, i would only hope you know this already, but you never know. some people have a tendancy to overlook the small things..... you should be able to use one from the same make and model of your impreza since they werent hydro yet......should also just bolt up to the firewall, of course i dont know how much you're going to have to remove to get to the mounting spot......... -
lift/mods/tires for my Soob. I missed the FAQ. . .
offroadsubaruguy replied to Tom63050's topic in Off Road
i have a set of scorpion lift springs i would sell for $275 plus shipping, thats about $125 cheaper than what renick sells them for....... i'd even be willing to refund $50 if you ship the stock springs back to me.... the springs should lift the car about 2"..... -
if you dont want the studs to spin, just put a small tack weld on one spot, or maybe opposite ends of the stud.... that way you can still get it off if you need to, but it wont spin either.
-
or it could just cause huge pile ups everywhere. which could be nice, so long as you dont get stuck in one of those pile ups.
-
90 leg, outback struts, and soon outback lift springs...... no. dont need to do it, plus it defeats the purpose of doing a suspension lift...
-
the kumhos are just like every other kind of m/t tire, i know from experience.... i run th ekumhos cause they are cheap, and they work wonders... but i havent yet seen an m/t tire that works well on the ice.....
-
reading on the ebay page, it says it will fit all 02-05 subarus...... that kinda kills it for us older gen guys..... i would love to put a lsd in the front on the legacy, but if it doesnt say that it would fit a 90 legacy, then i wouldnt get it.. of course the problem then is that there really isnt anything that says it would fit my car.......
