  1. KYB makes 2WD struts for the XT. I ran those with the 4WD springs. Was quite the rough ride, but it handled much better. Well, at least for the EA82 suspension. I'm looking to drop the PandaWagon's rear by an inch, but I have not found a good combo yet.
  2. It will, my friend. It will. It made a noticeable difference in my old wagon. In fact, it let me run it all the way out to valve float at about 7900 rpm. There wasn't much power up there but, oh, did it sound angry!
  3. 92_rugby_subie, If that cam grind is the same that I had in my old wagon, than it will improve the low to mid RPM range. It improves the power right in the RPM range we drive the most.
  4. I was wondering if that was a custom decal, looks awesome!
  5. Which port are you using for the HVAC canister on the passenger strut tower?
  6. Those pics make me want a Brat. Those painted Pug wheels look great! Nice!
  7. I got 33mpg on one tankful in my XT6 (4EAT w/ FT4WD) on a stretch in California and Oregon with the cruise set at 55mph. It makes a big difference. Seems the wall is 60mph, keep under that and your mileage goes up, sometimes quite a bit. The EJ swap will get a little worse mileage in town if you are using the extra horsepower, but out on the highway, at the same speeds as you ran with the ea82, it will be about the same. If you're delicate with the happy peddle, better than the EA82.
  8. If you are insinuating I lifted that from someone else, you're dead wrong man. That was my car. Till my brother and I swapped cars. The username for Bub matches the username for PandaWagon.
  9. Of all the WCSSs I've been to, Astoria was nice and the scenery was awesome! Although, from southeastern Arizona, the distance to Oregon vs Washington kinda gets lost in the noise. What's an extra few hundred miles? Now, which car to take....the PandaWagon or the XT6? If I were to leave today, the PandaWagon. With some work, I can get the XT6 ready for the desert heat torture trip....but would it make it home again? Technically, I should take the PandaWagon again this year since the Wedge gets to go on the Route 66 trip. I don't need the PandaWagon getting road trip envy - it's not pretty! I did miss the Rally-X last year. Maybe that's why we made it home without any major breakdowns last year. :-\
  10. According to Fuelly, my old blue wagon got an average of 28 MPG and my best freeway was 31.6 MPG. SPFI EA82, 5 speed D/R 4WD, 2" Catback Exhust, no roof rack
  11. The Weber is dead simple to swap jets on. Just a matter of pulling the top of the carb off and the jets are right there. The idle jets are on the outside and easily accessible even when it is installed in the car.
  12. Yeah, I like the look of this setup better. The wheels don't blend in with the body in pictures anymore. And with the added bonus of no rubbing on the coil spring in the rear, I can now lower it a little to help improve the handling on the RallyX and AutoX. For me, the biggest advantage doing the 5-lug swap is better braking. It makes a huge difference. Front suspension options are also a plus and with the plethora of wheel options, I can get a wheel that fits my preference. I currently have a thrush glasspack and a magnaflow straight thru muffler. It sounds ok and serves it's purpose, but I want something different.
  13. Changed to 15" wheels with 205/55R15: Loaded with 8 wheels and 4 tires: Loaded by subynut, on Flickr Empty: Unloaded by subynut, on Flickr They don't rub in the back when loaded like the WRX wheels did and I'm closer to stock tire size so the tranny will be happier with my lead foot. Thinking of putting an STi muffler on, anybody installed one on an EA82 chassis?
  14. Most people plug the EGR. It can be tuned with the EGR, but I myself just plug it. Unless you live in the desert, you do not need any fresh air feed. I used the filter like yours and had no issues. However, when I did the Weber swap on my sister's car, I used a combination of the EFI airbox, K&N snorkel adapter for the Weber, and some piping from autozone to get both cooler air and also to help prevent water ingestion with her puddle charging habit. I've noticed a small decrease in upper RPM power with that snorkel adapter, but it's best for her car. I can get a pic later when she's home to show you if you'd like.
  15. Looks good to me. As far as vacuum caps, I used an assortment pack. There were just enough of the sizes I needed to plug the ports.
  16. [hijack] EFI is awesome when it works. As things age and begin falling in and out of spec as the temperature and humidity change, that's when the computer has a fit and cannot tell which way is up. Usually ends in with false codes or no codes at all. I love EFI, but with 25 year old wiring and parts, things get really frustrating when the computer doesn't know what's wrong and the engine is fine one day with a CEL and a bucking bronco the next with no CEL. [/hijack]
  17. OOH! It's shiny! I live at about 4500 ft and the weber's stock jets ran a little rich, but I left it since my stomping grounds have a vast altitude range. Here's a fairly striped EA82 manifold: IMG_9048.JPG by subynut, on Flickr From left to right: There's two ports at the bend Next is right above the EGR valve (it's missing in the pic, but you'll see it on your manifold) Then there's the port on the other side of the EGR valve( I picked this one for the HVAC) There's one right next to the PCV valve The last one is next to the brake booster on the far right. (kinda hard to see since there's a piece of vac line stuck on it.) You need to block all but one of those small ports.
  18. Only the Peugeots (I don't remember which models) had the same bolt pattern of 4x140mm. They had 14" and 15" in both steel and alloys. The 14" Alloy Pugs look very good an the EA82s, such as my brother had on his old car (195/60-14): ThunderWagon by subynut, on Flickr The pugs show up on here periodicity, so keep your eyes peeled!
