  1. Wouldn't the quality of the fuel make a differance too? It is for me, if I go to say, Gas City, Shell, or Texeco suby pings real bad at low rpms running at 8 deg BTDC. However, if I use Chevron, the ping is completely gone and I also advanced the timing to 10 deg BTDC! Both were 87 octane. What gives?
  2. Ok, that seems to have fixed the problem. Doesn't stumble on hard left turns any more. Also I have more low end torque again, too. Yet, I have the same amount of vacume at idle. Still smokes, but, it's alot less than before. Thanks guys! You've been a great help! Now I can buzz around corners and slide in the dirt again without having to restart the engine!
  3. Just finished checking the fuel pressure: was wandering between 2.5 and 3 psi. is that a little low?
  4. Ok, I'll check the fuel pressure. One side note: on long periods of WOT and high RPMS I do not get any fuel starvation. Don't know if that makes any difference or not, just thought I'd let ya know. Off to check the fuel pressure.....
  5. how come that car looks so familiar?
  6. Nah, it'l only get dirty again when I see a mud puddle. ;-) Had to take dad's truck in to get some quirks fixed today, so I didn't get a chance to see if I fixed my problem or not. Will try again tomarrow.
  7. Awesome! One more question: Does the accord just have a v6 or does it have the i4 too? Just wondering if there might be different spring rates.
  8. Ok, Re did the PCV sys: Plugged PCV valve, ran a hose to each side, with a tee in the middle, filter at end. Did a few fast lefts and the stumbling seems to have disappeard. Will do more testing tomarrow.
  9. What year accord do I look for? Going to replace me rear struts soon and would like to add some extra ground clearance/weight capacity if possible. Thanks
  10. Nope. Only when I'm decelerating and get back on the throttle, will it blow billows of blue smoke. The PCV sys is not the original setup; the right side has just a filter and the left still has the piping to the pcv valve. Also, there seems to be oil splashing through the right filter cause that side has alot of oil splattered around in that area. Any other ideas?!?
  11. Every time I take a hard left she sputters like she's out of fuel. What gives? Also does the same thing when I'm going down a very steep hill. Carby? Erratic fuel pump? Don't know!!!
  12. Looks good. I like the idea of the removable light rack. Looks sturdy. I've got 3 in a row on my Suby and I've never been stopped for em. Course, I only run them all when I'm on the hiway with nobody commin the other way.
  13. More pics here: (last half of page 1 and page 2) http://usmb.net/gallery/Off-Roading
  14. I agree. I get alot better mileage when I'm on the freeway. I think I'm doin about 75ish at 3500: 3.9 axel ratio DR 5sp. Kinda hard since the speedo sticks between 55 and 75. So, 4K at 80 sounds about right.
  15. One Suby Two Subys THREE SUBYS?!!?!? WHOO HOOOO!!!! Me family and I went off roading today and had a blast! Buzzin down the dirt roads, slidin sideways, gettin stuck, had a great time! Goin from left to right: My Suby, my middle sisters' 87 GL carbed, and the new one of the buntch: my brother's 87 GL SPFI with the 3spd auto. So, now we have 2- blue 87 GLs, a White 87 GL, and my white 86 GL! Not to mention my perents' 97 red Outback, the 87 F350 (also white), and a off-white 93 E350! Oh, is the insurance company gonna have fun keepin all this straight!
  16. What about the temp of the exhaust gases? Won't that effect it any?
  17. Thanks guys! I'm already looking at either an engine swap or take mine apart. Water pump will B replaced since it's got oil mixed in there. BTW, how do I flush the heater core???!? Rad is easy, take it to a radiator shop. But what about the heater core? I've read that it''s a pain to get to.
  18. Hehe great movie! Just about as bad as the time I tried to attatch the push mower to the back of me car and tried to mow the lawn! Didn't work very well.
  19. Yeah, especially since the hitch has about 1000lbs on it!
  20. Yeah, that's about what they quoted me from the J/Y down here in Sierra Vista (Roughly 70 miles south of Tucson). How come EA82s are so much more expensive than EA81s? Mud puddles, U ascii? Very rare. Mostly during Monsoon Season: July through end of August. That's when we get the mud puddles and Suby is never clean. Course, If she ain't covered in mud, she's covered in DUST!
  21. Subies don't like hot n' dry air either. Since we've been running in the mid 90's, Suby's milage has dropped about 50 miles! Instead of 250-270, I get less than 200! [note to self] Get going on that engine transplant! [\note to self]
