wheel & lug pattern question...again
subynut replied to the goat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nope. The Subarus' lug spaceing is different. 144mm, I think. Wereas the others: BMW, Toy, honduh, ford, chevy, etc.. all have a smaller spacing. K? Unfortunatly, Pugs are the only alternitive. Unless U wish to convert to the Toy 6 lug or redrill a set of chevy rims. -

Man, I jumped maybe 6" off the ground and I broke both strut tower mounts. How'd he do that? That's awesome!! Yes, I'd really like to see the video of that launch and landing, too!! -

Nuts, yes. Crazy, maybe. Insane? Nope. I'd say go for it!

I'm in for a EA82 tranny and engine set, if the price is right. -
EA81, 2 separate ignition systems

I agree. Only differance I noticed when I put the SuperStock coil in was Suby idled smoother. Doesn't hicup so much anymore. As far as better performance in the seat of the pants, no I really didn't notice any. Mileage may have increaced by about 2 maybe 3 mpg. But with my lead foot, it don't really make muuch differance in the mileage area, I still get 22mpg ona REALLY good day. Last fillup with 100% city driving: 255 miles, 13.5 gal of fuel. -
Yup, I'd vote 4 fuel filter/carby.

Cool!! What kind of carby U got on there? Looks awesome! -
Finally got some pics shot: http://usmb.net/gallery/album248 My dad had them for a few years before he gave them to me. so, I'm not quite sure how much he spent on them. Fogs are attatched to the parking light switch and the driving lights are attatched to the Hi-beam switch. I also can turn on just the driving lights, but that's only for aiming them.
-
Strange...... when I put 20w50 in mine, I blow significantly more smoke than I do with 10w40. I also loose more with 20w50. Y?
-
Could you put 55w bulbs in them? You'll loose some light output, but at least you won't have people flashing their lights at you. I personally run my fog lamp on with my headlights. Then, when the road is clear, I hit the hi-beams and they kick on my driving lights. Yes, I'm a sight going down the road at night! Another thing to try is the Silvainia (sp?) SilverStar lamps. I have them on mine and they make a world of differance. Running your driving lights with traffic? I donno about that one. 200w pointing into on-comming traffic is just not very bright!

Ummmm.......Flagstaff?? Down here in the southeastern corner of the sate the junkyard (yes, only ONE Junkyard!) usually orders thier Suby parts from Flagstaff. He said more water. I think I'm gonna try that and C what that does. Coolant color looks good, so I would guess that the radiator is reasonably clean. I hope........:-\

Does anybody do this??? (long)
subynut replied to Bishop's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I know the probelm with finding anybody to rebuild Suby engines. There's nobody that will touch em here. I'll prolly end up going to Phoenix just to get a used one out of a junkyard. 200 miles just for an engine? Is that legal??!?!!? -
Ok, I'll check out prices around town. I'm running a 190 Suby t-stat right now, same age as my radiator, with I think 50/50 mix in it. Strange, one of my work buddies said that I need to increace my coolant/water ratio to get better cooling. Coolant in overflow tank is clean, forgot to check the radiator last night. I'll check it B4 I head out 4 work. Would high altitude have anything to do with it? I live at about 5000 ft, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.
-
Rad gummed up already? It's only 2 years old. Humm.....very strange. How often should I flush the cooling system? I'll take a looksee at the collant and see if it looks funny or anything. Also, when it does get to the 280 mark the overflow tank overflows too. When it's cold, the level in the overflow tank is right at the full line. :-\ I'll contact some of the radiator shops around here and see what they say. Junkyard? Well.....they don't even have engines let alone radiators.
-
Me Suby climbs up to 280 when I'm playing Petter Solberg in the dirt and ambient temps around 85ish. On hiways and city running around it sits around 210 with both e-fans running. Somtimes I'll see 220 if I'm running flat out on the freeway for miles, but it's rare. Is my cooling system in need of a flush again? Just did that about a year ago. Or do I need to do somthing different? Ideas??!?!?

U mean, like, this: Link :-D

Bummer, I'm lucky if I get 250 miles out of a tank in the city. Abouts 270-290 if the majority of the miles are highway. All depends if I want to be Petter Solberg or not.
