  1. Looks nice! When's the 5 speed going in?
  2. I use STP filters in my Suby and my familys Subies. I run Havoline 10w40 in mine. My sis is using Castrol High Milage 10w40 in her car and it keeps the lifters quiet. I plan on switching to Castrol too when I get the engine rebuilt/replaced.
  3. Wow! Now that's what I call a cool Soob!! That thing looks awesome!
  4. Man, we all go bonkers just over one soob for the day. Well, saw two today at work. Mainly Legacys and imprezzas here. Boy, do I miss Idaho. Not as many as Moscow, ID we drove through. A minimum of 3 Soobs per corner! I was in heaven! Now I'm stuck here in Arizona with no mud and those pesky mesquite trees that like to eat my body panels. Don't mind the sand. That's fun. Actually able to crawl in 4lo at idle with no throttle. In the flat spots.:-\
  5. Pulled it out a bit so, it's not AS bad. Oh twell, I think I'll just leave it. Gives it character. Yes, I don't know how I missed those lights. Someone was looking after me, I guess.:-\ Hummm this is no. 3 attack on me Suby. First one was on the pass rear door, second was the pass mirror, now the hood. Hafta get a closser look at that tree again. Might as well get a pic too while I'm at it.
  6. Had a dirt road terror itch during lunch hour today. So, I went to my favorite urban offroad spot and WEEEEEEE!!!!! Buzzed down the trials, slide sideways, splash through what's left of the mud puddles, cruise the big ol' sandy wash in 4hi without any problems running at 1000rpm. Lotsa fun! TILL it came to heading back. Was doin about 35 when I hit a bump just too fast, lost traction, car heads straight for a mesquite tree. Come to a sliding stop RIGHT in front of the tree. Backup and take a look: ouch What do ya think? I was able to straighten it so it doesn't hit the grill anymore. Bummer.
  7. hummmm how come the compression ratio is 9.0:1 for the carb and mpfi, 9.5:1 for spfi with auto, and 7.somthin' for the turbo? These numbers are from the specs page in my owners manual for my 86.

Sounds DEFINITLY meaner without that cat! THanks guys! Doesn't look like I will hafta plug the hole. The Bolt seems to seal it pretty good and it appears that I just ran into an air cavity. Thanks anyways! Now, operation move muff back a little. It's hitting a bolt and making a rattleing sound. Guess I'll hafta cut the pipe just behind the muffler and shorten it a bit and reattatch. BUT that will hatfa wait.:-\
  9. Didn't see any antifreeze come out and it was dry inside that chamber. hummm how do I put the head underwater when it's still on the block and in the engine compartment?
  10. well....the air goes SOMEwere don't know where, though. Also, I kan't seem to get the pipes to seal up correctly either. I got one side basicly sealed, but the other I think is leaking around that particular bolt hole. Bummer. Guess that's what I get for taking out the cat, right? That was a project too. Ended up reconstructing the piping from the heads to the connection by the tranny due to the fact that the inner pipes were cracked. Oh twell....sounds better w/out it.
  11. I stripped out another exhaust bolt hole but this time when I went to drill out the old threads, I think I drilled a little too far. Is it still ok? I looked inside and all I can see is remnents of muddy water. No oil or antifreeze came out and no sign of carbon deposits. Thanks
  12. I agree with Corky. Cams sound like they're correct, but puffs shootin out the carby says the ditsy is firein' at the wrong time.
  13. Great visds! Looks like what I do! Coolness! :-D
  14. mine: Suby/bob oldest sister 87: bub middle sister 87: barry parents' outback: BillyBob Now, say it 3 time fast: billybob bob bub barry :cool:
  15. The speaker connectors are located down by where the wires feed though that black tube which goes to the door. The connectors are pink. The left is white/blue on one side and Yellow / Blue w/ Red Stripe and the right is white/blue on one side and White / Blue w/ Black Stripe. I just spliced there right after the connectors. That help?
  16. The lighting switch wire you don't need to use. Just wrap it with electrical tape and stuff it out of the way. The two black wires: I would try the larger of the two. I ran new wires from the battery on mine and I also ran new wiring for the speakers too. Hope this helps.
  17. As Barry Manilow would've said: "Goin' up!" WEEEEEEEEEE "Goin'down....."
  18. Don't feel bad, my Suby is in DIRE need of an engine rebuild. No oomph what so ever. Like it takes 1/2 mile just to get to 55? Been driving the van lately, lotso go go power but............wait, wasn't that gas guage just at half? naaaa couln't have used a 1/4 of a tank already, could it? I MISS MY SUBARU!!!
  19. <----------------------------------Old beat up 80's wagon! HAHA! RAD! You kill it everywhere, talk crap to kids in Hondas with snowboard racks, and probably have at least 10 zip ties on your car!
  20. Good pics! Too bad Arizona don't know what mud is......:-(......but wait! It's not monsoon season yet. THEN its mud season, for about 2 months.....sigh........
  21. Yeah, I gots the same problem. Runs rich. When it rains, say bye bye to power. THAT don't make sense to me: raining = denser air which I would think would lean out the mixture. Getting it closer to a 50/50 mix. :cornfuzz: I decreaced my dieseling by switching to Chevron gas. Still using 87, but it doesn't diesel half as much as it did on the higher gades from the other stations around here.
