ok thanks for the input everybody, i will try contacting ccr but since they were terrible about answering their e-mails during the ordering and subsequent problems i had when the motor got here i am doubting they will answer this one either i am also going to use the sube oil filter like suggested, will try giving it a little gas to see if raising the idle makes it go away will post the results, thanks

this is a brand new 2.2 rebuild from ccr, oil is never low at all and nothing should be clogged, it is not the tick of death, noooooooooooooo, don't even want to hear things like that new motor - no death here maybe the valves need adjusting, shawn are you around? so this is obviously not a normal 2.2 thing like i was hoping

i have a new ccr 2.2 with about 6000 miles on it and have noticed as it has gotten a bit cooler that it ticks really loud for about 10 minutes in the morn until it is warmed up, it is not cold here in az, maybe 50-55 in the morn, i am concerned something is wrong and i might hurt the motor, have been not moving it until it is warmed up good i am running royal purple 10-30 is this a normal thing for these cars to be loud on start up? thanks for any input

ok i understand all this, but my e-mail is up 24/7 and i check it very regularly (like almost every hour), in fact i sent a few e-mails that were never replied to at all about this engine, no one sent me an e-mail and ask to speak to the person putting the motor in, we could very easily have avoided all of this if we had just been asked?? you spoke to my mother who i agree knows nothing about cars but she isn't illiterate (she has a doctorate in education) and could very easily understand a request to speak to the mechanic, you could have e-mailed us and asked or called and ask to get in touch with the person doing the car, you have written here but i have nothing on my e-mail from you concerning what the warranty is or how you want us to proceed with this???? should we send the motor back or do you feel comfortable having eli change this or what do we do here? it seems all of this could have been easily avoided with some simple communication

please read the post before this too ok i think we better all get on the same page before anything is done to the motor, i know i do not know what i am talking about really BUT i ordered a CUSTOM 2.2 MOTOR from ccr, it is supposed to be non interference but ccr also stated to me that they modify all their motors and make them non interference period??? this motor is not the normal 1999 2.2 but the old version made to go into my 1999 legacy car, i was under the impression the old version was better so ask to have this one made this way, it is bottom end old one and top end new one i think??? anyway i do not understand what the problem is and why this is happening, i have written ccr and ask them what we are supposed to do and why the motor was sent this way, we could have looked at the cam gears and told them what they looked like before they built it if someone had asked us to does this make things clearer? and could it be something else instead of the cam gears?

i am confused, i thought i bought a non interference motor from ccr???? now you are saying it is interference and can be messed up? and why wasn't this stuff done there or why weren't we at least warned this would be a possible problem and to check it before we put the motor in? if this is so difficult are you suggesting we pull it back out and ship it back to ccr to get done? i will e-mail ccr but they were not very good about answering e-mails before i bought the motor

uh oh, there are chips and tuners for the legacys? i have all kinds of chips and tuners on my powerstroke, what all is available for my 99 legacy? all i need is another car to put gadgets on, i am going to go broke:) i found the smt6 but they do not list price, do you know how much they are?

what is a smt6?

hmmm,, well i guess i have just always been under that impression, more drag from being higher? the fact that the lower 4wds like the subes seem to get better mileage than the 4wd suvs liek exploeres, isuzus, etc on the road, becuase my tall f350 4wd gets 14mpg:) , i don't really know, it was just an assumption on my part since i drive about 60,000 a year mileage is important to me do the imprezas tend to get a little better mileage than the legacys? i had a 91 legacy awd and i got a steady 28-29 in it, of course prob over half of my driving is hwy the good news is that if it won't affect my mileage i really like the way the height of your cars and will have to do that!!!!! but subrat and i are going to do it in stages over a few weeks, so i will drive it and clock mileage, etc before each change, going to leave the stock tires on and put on the kyb ob struts, will measure and drive a week or 2, then will do springs and measure and drive a week or 2 and then will do bigger tires and measure, etc again so it will be interesting just ordered one of those scangauge things, maybe i can program a trip for each mod and log the results i cannot wait to get my sube going!! so now you have to tell me what all is on your subes

hey zapar , what all is on that green one? also how does this affect your mpg? that is the only thing holding me back from the scorpion springs losing mpg
