no sorry i did not word that right, one of the guys on here said he did the ob struts and he gained about 1.75 in height, i just thought that did not seem like much height and this car sits really low to me, so i am thinking it will not be enough height, sorry to be so confusing part of this is becuase i have been driving a ford f350 for 3 years and i am sure everything is low to me
-
is it just me or does it seem like as low as my car is 1.75 in is not going to get me as high as an ob did any of you guys think that and then when you changed the struts 1.75 in was a lot higher than you thought? this all sucks becuase supposedly this car has new regular struts and it has new tires that are way too small hate to waste money but it has to come up, the first time i go down the dirt rd to the house that spoiler thing on the front is going to get busted:(

ok can this be done at ccr and then sent to me? and do i need a new computer or not? subrat is going to do the engine swap for me here in tucson do you know off the top of your head about how much this engine is going to cost me? and i am also interested in knowing if there are any upgrades i can have done to the new motor at ccr, i put 50000-60000 a year on my car and i want this thing to last, so if better tougher parts are available for it i might do that thanks for your time -
ok i think i could live with the height of an outback, will do more research thanks so much!!
-
that is it, boy is this thing low, it is going up!!!!! i am not sure the strut swap is going to be enough for me, will i be as high as an outback? i am still going to look at the lift kits too
-
ok good news went and checked the car and i already have 15's now i am crawling all around looking under there and i am not seeing shocks, so am i stupid and cars with struts don't have shocks? or did i just miss them, so everybody meant get kb g2 struts for a 99 ob? there is no room under that car, i would much rather have to climb under my f350!!!

thanks for all this input guys! ok want to make sure i get all this right, i need to get ob struts and ob kyb g2 shocks and a taller tire one question is if i go to a 15 tire will i get even more clearance? and does anybody with a 98 or 99 legacy seem to have a spoiler type thing coming down from the bumper in the front, i had a 91 and it just did not seem so low ,but i don't think i had this spoiler/bumper thing this 99 is so low you cannot park it over a curb in front?? almost makes me think something is wrong with it thanks so much for all your help!

so i will need to buy the computer for a pre 97 to go with the new motor and then will it plug in and work? -
ok did not realize i would not be able to put 15's on it if i only do the lift, maybe i will go with the outback set up, i have to replace the struts, shocks, springs and wheels right?
-
has anyone done this and how hard is it? need a new motor and was going to order the non interference 2.2 from ccr
-
looked around online and found some lift kits lsited for my sube, sent out some e-mails to the companies and haven't heard back yet this legacy i bought sits really low to the ground to me and i drive quite a few dirt roads, i need a little more clearance, i don't want to spend a fortune but do not want problems later on either so is using the outback stuff better than going with an aftermarket lift kit? or do you guys have any other suggestions? thanks for your time
-
ok i am looking into doing the outback strut and shock thing to my 99, do i have to do the springs too? or anything else? i wanted to get new parts so this is starting to look expensive i want to know if there are any other ways to raise it, i like the thought of having an air suspension set up, are there aftermarket air setups and has anyone installed one? i am just wanting to look at all the options before i spend my money thanks!
-
i am just wanting to gain some clearance for dirt roads, was thinking maybe i don't have to do all the outback stuff on legacy that there might just be some kind of adjustment? i remember my 85 had a way to raise it and lower it, you screwed it up or down or something like that? does my 99 have anything like that?

i tried doing a search for this and am not coming up with much related to mpg i had a 91 a few years ago and got a solid 28 in it even doing 80mph on the highway i am totally expecting the 99 2.2 to get the same, previous owner says she only checked it once but it was 20-21, i was just thinking she was crazy, no way but i am noticing a few post where numbers are nto too high i searched high and low for a 2.2 FOR THE GAS MILEAGE! so please tell me i am going to get close to 30, the government thing that calculates mpg says the 2.2 gets 30 on the hwy and the 2.5 gets about 26-27 soooo guys what is everyone getting? i will replace the entire fuel injection system and whatever else needs it if this thing gets 20mpg, noooooooooo way, i am not dealing with that

ok struts and shocks wear out so i am thinking about getting new outback ones unless maybe someone has some in good shape for sale? does anybody know about how much i would pay for new and used stuff? also on that one thread i saw he did not change the wheels just the suspension, so how much lift difference is there between doing all of it and only doing the suspension/no wheels?
