I got a good passenger seat for my '85 Brat GL (thanks Dan Hardy). I plan on putting it in place of my worn out drivers seat. I see how the seats are attached to the adjuster rails and that should be easy. My question is can I take the seat back tilting mechanism off of the drivers seat and put it on the replacement passenger seat? Right now the back seat adjuster is on the right side of the seat going in and I'd prefer it to be on the left side when it is installed.

How tough is it to convert an EA-81 with a carb to propane? What problems would you expect? Any kits available? What advantages are there?

Where can I find suberdaves site? -
Can you just swap the seat cushions between frames?
-
Can't you just exchange the seats frame and all? I'm told there's some switching of parts like seat belt retainers but it's doable.

The ad refers to "simulated oversize rear tires" as one of the enhancements made. They do look cool though.

How does it work on the black plastic bumpers?

Thanks Aussies! I was able to gently pry apart the lens from the housing. It must have been on there for a long time. After pulling the bulb I'm pretty sure that's the problem based on it's cloudy grey appearance.

Recently while driving my '85 Brat GL I got a warning light pop on stating that a brake light was out. I never knew that this Brat even had such a warning light. Anyhow, I established that the passenger side brake light was out, took off the tail light assembly to find three bulb sockets backsides. Knowing it was the middle one I tried to get it to come free from the housing. No luck. I didn't want to break anything. I don't see a way to separate the lens from the housing to get access to the bulb from the front. Any advise?

Beauty rings for wagon wheels

Just remember that the rings will really gouge up the Jackman wheels when installed. -

I always add a zinc additive with my fresh oil in my '85 Brat. I believe the EA-81 engine needs that. Todays oil doesn't have a zinc component like oil sold in the 80's -

Old School Subies and Synthetic Lubricants
franbev replied to Crazyeights's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't EA-81engines need zinc in the oil? Since zinc is no longer an additive in "todays" oil I add it separately. -
The Brat goes in for winter storage today so it's officially winter in Minnesota. No rain in sight, filled up with gas and stabilizer and some summer stuff stowed in the bed. I'm already thinking of spring.

Need to temporarily cover up some rips in the blue leatherette on my '85 Brat seats. Can't find a good match at the local hardware stores.

It's been a hot summer in Minnesota, routinely in the 90's with high humidity. I find myself driving our '85 Brat more because the AC is better than that in my Lexus. I recognize that the cabin is much smaller and therefore easier to cool but the Brat has over 100K on it and never has had the AC worked on. I'm thinking it might be because the refrigerant is the older R -14. Of course performance is way down with the AC on, I can tell when the compressor cycles on/off.

2nd gen computer differences
franbev replied to franbev's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No, I have an opportunity to buy an automatic unit as a spare for my standard shift Brat. -
What are the differences, if any, in the 2nd gen Brat computer between an automatic and standard transmission?
