  1. Sorry guys been back at work and havent fooled with it much. I am going to send it to a mechanic local to me that deals with these engines on a regular basis. Hopefully next time i post i will have an answer for all of you and i will be on the water. Thanks fellas
  2. Been trying all day DaveT its sl close. It wont hold when the ignition isnt engaged but while its turning it sounds like it wants to fire up. Im lost. Tried half throttle and the choke is electric so not sure how to hold it.
  3. New plugs did nothing. It stumble like it wants to start so im thinking now it might be timing. But i have no clue how to set it or how the hell it would have jumped a tooth just sitting doing nothing
  4. Tried it and nothing. Only pops when i shoot fuel in the cylinder and put the plug back
  5. Ea82 with 32/36 weber used as an inboard for a mudboat. Changed my exhaust after sitting for a year cleaned the carb and now it wont start. I have spark I have fuel in the fuel rail/manifold Cylinders have compression Exhaust pushes pressure when turning motor Sparkplugs are dry after turning over Will pop if i put fuel directly into the cylinder Anyone run into something simular?
  6. OK so brought it to the mechanic that built the motor and what happened was the camshaft bearing bolt backed out and went in the gear causing the failure. The mechanic said in 30 years of doing mainly Subaru's he has never seen that before so he gave me a new gear and belt and he's going to get it running and tuned up for 90 bucks so I'd say it was worth bringing it in. Thanks everyone for you help and I will post a video as soon as I can show you guys how bad rump roast the motors are in a boat in the mud

  8. I'll try and post a pic but the pics I tried yesterday were too big. The idlers are basically brand new maybe 4 hours on the whole motor since its been rebuilt and the bearings in the tensioners look fresh out the box
  9. Any ideas on where I can get a camshaft gear and possibly a camshaft? I'm thinking the camshaft warped when it overheated causing this headache
  10. OK new update and it was the timing off about a 1/4 turn and not only that the belt had about 1/8th of an inch strand come loose and somehow flared out the timing gear that the bet rides on. Never seen something like this before
  11. I have a coworker and mechanic looking at it this weekend to try and diagnose the issue. If the timing did indeed jump how do I tell if it did or not?
