Well they decided to part the car out and I'm going to get a bunch of stuff off it that won't come with a used engine ac compressor, alt,ps pump, exhaust, rad and probably a few other things. I'm going to try to see if it starts with starting fluid just out of curiosity. Anything else that I should get for the swap?

I never thought of those going bad. I just figured that those wouldn't go bad either. I think I read those are interference engines so if the tensioner or water pump went bad it probably took out some valves too. I passed on getting the car because changing the heads on a ez30 is quite a job and I have no place to do that. They said If they don't sell it they'll part it out and said I can get whatever I want off it cheap.

Im thinking of putting a h6 in my 96 impreza. I went an looked at a 02 ll bean for sale and I knew that it didn't run before I took a look at it. I was told it just stalled and wouldn't start. I figured the fuel pump went bad or the o ring in the gas tank. So when I looked at it, it cranks but doesn't sound like it's got any compression. It cranks over like a 4 cylinder with bad timing belt. Is it possible the chain broke or something. I thought they lasted the life of the engine. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the info. I was considering getting the group-n mounts but they were around $150 until I got these ones for free. Free is good I can save up to get the group-n down the road. I figure if they're gel filled they will leak eventually. I had a couple older GM's that had fluid filled mounts that leaked. I'm just glad the outback mounts will fit.

I have a 96 impreza ob and noticed the other day that the motor mounts were covered in oil from when the cam seals were leaking. I put a new timing belt, cam seals etc about a year ago. It's not leaking now but it seems like the motor mounts are a little soft. I think the engine moves a little more than it should when I put it in gear. I was wondering if motor mounts out of a 08 outback would fit. My buddy has a set of like brand new motor mounts out of a 08 outback. They are a totally different design being round but it looks like they should fit. Any thoughts? Are they a better design than the older ones? Thanks

I got a 96 impreza 2.2. I was getting a high idle every once in a while it was around 1100 rpm when idling. I changed the iac valve with a known good one. It actually looked like it was new. I was noticing once the valve was taken off there is a rubber insert in the intake. One had a metal plate behind it with slots in it and the other didn't have the metal plate on it was just the rubber insert. I left the plate off thinking it should give it better air flow. Car seems to run fine without it. What is the purpose of the metal plate?

Are the rear upper strut mounts the same between the awd and the fwd? I picked up a set at the upullit off of a 95 fwd impreza and after I got them home noticed they look a little different from what I remember. I don't have any off to compare. I'm putting them on 97 outback struts. I'm lifting a 96 Impreza outback. Thanks

I picked up a wiper switch out of a 95 svx for my 97 impreza. Im was wanting the rear wiper delay and from what I'm reading there's a rear wiper control box? I can't find a wiring diagram for the svx. Just wondering where the box is located and if anyone has a wiring diagram for the svx? Has anybody done this before? Thanks any help will be greatly appreciated.

I "accidentally" tried the fwd fuse a few months ago when I had a flat tire and had to use the dummy spare. It went away for a little while but came back though it didn't seem as severe. The one thing that I did discover when I was looking at the CV axles I have from a few cars I parted out is that the axle I used in my 97 came out of a 93 impreza and having the 93 axle up against a 95 impreza axle the part where the axle rides on the bearing in the diff is smaller on the 93. I think I might have discovered the noise. I'll know when I get a chance to tear into it.

I'm guessing that it's the rear diff. When I got the car in Feb it had a bad right rear wheel bearing then about a month later the axle went out in that side the outer joint was frozen solid. I thought it was the diff then because I checked the fluid level in it and it was about empty and what lube that was in there was like sludge. Put synthetic gear lube in and changed the axle. It was fine for a couple months then started a shuddering noise only when I turned a hard left. I was thinking torque bind but it should do it turning both ways? So when I was fixing the exhaust the other day I noticed that I could turn the driveshaft about a half an inch before it would spin the CV axles. That's what made me think that the rear diff was going bad. Is this the right diagnosis?

Anybody use the Moog k5330 to adjust the camber on the rear struts? I picked them up today to correct the camber on the back of my 97 impreza. The inside of the tires are wearing down. It's got forester struts and the outback trailing arm brackets. I haven't seen any mention of them just the spc style ones. Will they work OK on the impreza?

I have a 97 impreza outback automatic. The trans is acting up sometimes it shifts hard and slips in between gears. I have a trans out of a 98 legacy outback. I know the gear ratios are different between them. I was curious about the difference between the 4.44 and 4.11 performance and gas mileage wise? Is one better than the other?
