  1. Not sure what your problem is, but did you take both front shafts out? or just one side?
  2. When one of my inners died (due to me putting it back together wrong and it poping out, then putting it back together right) it just clicked like a outter joint.
  3. All these pictures were small to me, but heres a link to bigger ones that worked for me http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?mcats=all&si=&what=allfields&name=tidd1340&when=0&whenterm=&condition=and
  4. Did I type that?? My thoughts exactly. I had a bit of a tiff with three of the members there and now they just try to pick every single one of my posts apart. I think the problem is we don't have enough variety here of offroading so everyone just makes their cars good for sand dunes. I want a fully capable offroader. Not just a dune rig. (That's why I'm not putting the AWD D/R trans in just yet. I like 4WD
  5. A rear end from a EA81 with the gearbox and propshaft will be the easiest 4WD conversion (just bolts, no welds.) Rear end meaning all the suspension brakes, shockers, diff, driveshafts/axles, and maybe gas tank? With a little more work you can get the EA82 (85 onwards (except Brats and Hatches)) 5sp 4WD in. Best to just search/browse the entire forum (retro fit section might help along with offroad section. Rebuilding: Sounds like you carb has a blocked jet for three. Pull it down, clean it out, and see if you can put it back together... To expencive rebuilding the heads. You can put a EA82 motor in the car, pretty easy. Fitting a EA82t (turbo) requires some wiring, little hard. You can also fit any later subaru engine with some work. Again, it's just easier for you to look around the forums then me explain what needs to be done. Come back with any questions of things about swaps you don't understand. Really it all depends on your level of knowledge and understanding to what you can do. At least you have a car that is one of, if not, the easiest cars to change a motor in. I can pull my EA81 out of the hood in under 40mins now. (yes, I did get that fast because I had to pull it that many times.)
  6. This isn't the usual "I want to lift my subie" thread. I actually like my car at the moment and have no plans on more lift or bigger tires. What I want to know is: When you lift and put a T-case in how much stability is lost? On-road and Off-road? How much further do you think a 8" lifted, t-cased, 30" tyre'd rig will go vs a 3" lifted, 27" tire'd rig (running the same engine and welded rear diff) Is there places the 8" one won't go but the 3" will? What speeds can you do in your lifted, t-cased rig? highway speeds feel safe enough? Probably more questions to come. I am asking as the guys on the Australian forum don't believe that a big lift, t-case, and big tyres will get you anywhere that the small one wont. They believe that you can't drive it on the road due to stability and gearing. I have never modded that far so I just won't to confirm what I have read here in the past, and all the PM's between members I have talked to. So if you have anything to say about your big lifted roo (good or bad) please do Cheers,
  7. Avoiding puddle?? why??! I can't wait for the weekend. Better get those dvcam batteries charged
  8. don't know if it has been said already but if it's just a small ish crack you can just clean it up and use silicon onthe boot. It will hold the grease in and the dirt out for a while at least
  9. To save you all trying to log into that site here is the pictures you are after EJ22 This is on 30.5" Mud terrains in a Vanagon (what type of trans do they use?) Not perfect by any means, but nice to see. EA81 This is on stock 22.5" tyres Pitty they are two different types of dyno'ing. But you can sort of compare them.
  10. You may be supprised what some people do because of copyright GD. But I'm with you, it should be free and ok to distribute. But I still think the forum should take it easy on these subjects. A public forum advertising something that may still be in copyright is a bad idea
  11. I love those t-tops... I want a brat with them...
  12. I wouldn't blow compressed air in there. It's easy to pull apart and the air could blow holes in things like the initial accelerator pump.
  13. I've been having heaps of trouble with google video at the moment so heres a link to my videos on youtube http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=brumbyrunner Also you can look at my downloads and video page on http://www.offroadingsubarus.com Gotta work on getting more hosting so I don't need google or youtube...
  14. Is that pdf legal? Cos if it isn't they shouldn't put it in the USRM in my opinion.
  15. And for those who don't have a pit inthe garage, this is what the bottom of your subie looks like.. Poor roo
  16. Well. After a week of having the welded diff in there we went to weld my brothers. But found mine was actually a 3.9 (front is a 3.7) So even though it off roaded good it had wrong diffs in it. So we put the welded 3.9 in my brothers car and welded a 3.7 for mine. All good now, and 3WD kinda works on the road. But it feels safer in 2WD .. I sure am missing my 4WD dirt road action.
  17. Another interesting link. He said his spent over $30k on it http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1992-Subaru-Brumby-Ute-STI-WRX_W0QQitemZ110041357040QQihZ001QQcategoryZ135963QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. Its hard to find anything smaller then 27" in 15" rim size. So if you don't want big go the 14"s But there is a bigger (cheaper?) sellection for the 15" rims.
  19. I gotta watch me that movie. I've only seen the second one
  20. interesting. I think I will have to just go with the 4.11's. I just kinda wanted to do something different. But I don't want to find after buying a diff that I have to do more machining then my workshop can handle..
  21. Thanks fangster, I knew all of that already by looking at the pictures and reading the forums. But it's good you brought it up in this topic for others to read later while searching. Like I said in the Offroad Section, I want a FT4WD box for my idea, but I don't plan on using it. I don't care if the gearbox has screwed gears. I still want it. I wonder how much I will be up for Thanks everyone. Once again, you've been a GREAT help
  22. Ahh, right I see. What about the 4.11's? I've seem a few people put those in the old RX's FT4WD trans.
  23. could someone tell me the point of that cxt?
  24. Ahh... cheers. That was my other thought to start off with, but there wasn't anything really obvious.
