  1. Must suck not being able to drive them on the road... I didn't get my first car till about 8 weeks after getting my licence. That 84er is going to be cool. I'd go with the smaller tire choice. I think the main thing that makes a subie good offroad is traction. And the best way to get that is either welded, locked, or LSD'ed diff(s) My Brat seems pretty good with the 215 road tires I got for it, not much less grip then the Kumho M/T's... I just have flex problems..
  2. Ahh, ok Junkie. I did notice that the M/T's weight a lot versus road tires, and it also maybe a huge difference to performance going to lighter tires. I still run my M/T's offroad, but now I have the 15" mags for onroad. I would not use alloy's offroad... It's just craziness! Steelies FTW. I tell ya what. I have some 10" suzuki steelies. You can just about juggle them. Although I think your tire choice would be a little small for those!
  3. ........Back......... ......Gearbox....... ....................... .........|.|........... ........./..\.......... cyl3 _|XX|_ cyl4 cyl1 _|XX|_ cyl2 ....................... ...... Engine........ ....... Front ....... Firing order is 1 > 3 > 2 > 4 Can you tell that I am bored?
  4. My Venture M/T's don't have the metric messurment.... Only 27x8.5R14... Weird that, seems Australia is a metric country...
  5. I love your rams+jacking.... Safty first huh?
  6. Do you want 14" rims because they should be the right offset and fit the kumho's or other 27" tires? I thought you could get 27" for 15" rims in M/T and A/T? Here is Aus their are quite a few 14" rim'ed utes/trucks. I have a set of standard Nissan 6 lug wheels that have great offset. But you can also get 15" wheels with good offset, I got these off ebay.com.au, they are 15"/6" superlites with the same offset as the 14's I have. They used to be on a Ford Courier. But seems we have more small trucks here in Aus I guess it would be easier to find 6 lug 14"s here. You Americans and your over sized vehicles..... Thank god for you subie drivers!
  7. So, whats with the hatch in the background!!?!?! ahah, J/K! :-p Looks awesome mate. I need some stickers for my Brumby. Thinking about something special for it though, maybe a full side sticker that covers the whole side of the car. Anyway. Looks good.
  8. I'm still trying to get my head around this search... lol. I'll get there one day. I do have to admit I don't like spending extencive time searching the internet for answers. It's good to be able to get people to post links to them, maybe it will make it easier for future searches... Cheers.
  9. I would be interested in new headlights... Mainly because these sealed beams are only as bright as my bros LED flash light..on his phone!.. :-\
  10. OMG. How could I be so blind and not see the sticky's! Thanks, I'll give that all ago. But don't worry, I'll be back with eve more questions in a while! EFI is just so... complex? Well, I think it's a mix between efi and emission control. I love my EA81!
  11. Alrighty, Thanks for your help. Time to go get prices...
  12. They indicated that they just want it to look better and bigger. That's why they want 4", and not 2". Personally I like the back jacked up, so I use 2" all over.
  13. I just need a little help. How do I check the ECU codes on a 1990 Liberty/Legacy? The "Engine Check" light is on, how do I turn it off? Will the ECU give me a code telling me it's on and why? I've been a Carb'ed guy for ages now and have never bothered to learn about the EJ's... It's running rough, but I am sure that's because most of the exhaust exits under the hood... But I would like to know if there was anything wrong. Thanks for any help.
  14. Cheers mate, thanks for your advice!Should I go for any thicker then 4mm?
  15. I am thinking of making a 4" kit for someone who has contacted me. They want a 4" kit and they want it cheap. So I was thinking of using some 2x4" square steel tube. If I get the tube in 4mm to 6mm thick could I use the double bolt system? The one that you use 2 bolts in place of one long bolt? Or would you still need 1 long bolt with a reinforcing tube in the middle of the block?
  16. If you do the math on there named size "27x8.5R14's" they come out as 216/76R14's.. Lol, sorry, just small details. I wouldn't get anything bigger then 27".. I know there are some 15" tyres out there that are 27" big. Sounds like you want a A/T as well....
  17. Exactly. I dunno about others, but when I offroad my subie I treat it like...I would a Kia?! So I don't want to put to much money into it. I think maybe others are the same, in the US anyhow. I just get that vibe when I am on USMB...
  18. Someone from the forum offer to swap their wagon for this guys brat!! lol Don't let a brat go to a unworthy person!
  19. ... First, down here most rigs can only be 2" body lifted... Because of law. Normally what aussies do is put the EJ dual range or an EJ auto into their EA car along with a EJ engine (maybe cos we're to scared to use an "adaptor plate" I dunno...) And another thing I have noticed. Most subaru offroading Americans use Subies offroad cos their cheap. Most subaru offroading Australians use Subies offroad cos they want to. See what I am getting at? You guys don't have the money to spend, we have to much.. Well, thats a little over exaterated, but you get it, right?
  20. Ok.... Although I know honda was using high comp before the weird v-tech stuff. So do you mean the design of ports for inlet and exhaust on EA81's can't take that much comp? Or the shape of the "bottom" (ummmm) the part where the plug and valves go, what would you call that? hmm. Oh, and BTW I normally use 98octan fuel in my car anyhow... Goes much faster that way.
  21. ... From what I hear, Brats are worth a lot more then that over there! I would fix the brat up, but I guess it could be easier for you to just swap.. (is that what you ment? wagon for the brat?)
  22. Excuse my ignorance please. If honda's can run 12:1 ratio's what is stopping a EA81 from doing it? If the cam were ground right, valve springs upgraded/modified would this help? I don't want to go to the trouble of importing pistons, or getting custom ones made, nor do I want to spend that much. I was just thinking would it be possible to gain compression this way. Obviouslly you'd need a fair bit of work. So it's a waist of time. But still for a normal EA81. But I still would like to play around with my high flow dual carb'ed EA81.
  23. Man...... I don't know why, but I really like those old hatchs!.... Pitty they didn't make it to Aus, exept for about 4 imported ones. One of those Jap spec SRX's would be sweet.
