  1. Normally when you lift an old roo, you do it for more capability offroad. Some might do it for "better looks" but that is just "ricer" to me. So, if you are lifting it for better offroading, theres no point unless you put bigger tires on it. And the bigger tires will stuff up your gearing and therefore screw up your on-road driving... If you had a dual range FT4WD box (not sure if yous in the US got them) then you'd be using the lo-range all the time I'd bet with bigger tires. Anyway, bigger tires + no lo-range = total crap offroading... So you will want the dual range if you are going to mod the subie for offroading. Or you could have the FT4WD box and not worry about lifting the rig and jus offroad on mild trails. So many choices.
  2. need some full day light pics of it outside... Personally I like the black, but I get picked on so much for it.. Anyway, I just say "**** 'em". Just have to show 'em up on the trails! My bro just used real cheap black paint around the bottom of his 83 wagon. Made it looks heaps meaner. (is "meaner" a word? :-\) Anyhow, looking good.
  3. That's what I thought when I saw the slowmo replay in the video... Sad to hear about the poor subie, but good to hear the occupants are ok. Better luck next time.
  4. ... Everythings cheap, except for a machine shop !
  5. I've seen some on ebay.com.au, but can't seem to find them in any shops or online in Aus... If I see anymore on ebay I'll ask them where they got them from and relay the info.
  6. Sounds like a great place to wheel. There's a place 30mins from me that's pretty good. But it is only like 200 acres, and gets boring... Need to find more places.. You'll have to get your PC working and get the pics to us. Someone needs to set up a camera on their car that takes pictures of lifted jeep drivers faces. Reminds me of automatics....
  7. The Kumho's are nice, but I wouldn't suggest them for a daily driver
  8. Ahh, ok, sounds good. The round tube is for when only using 1 bolt, and not doubling up.
  9. How wide are your rims? The kumhos are 215/75R14"s... I guess 225/70's should fit 6"wide ok, but it's pushing it.
  10. I have this problem. If you remember the FAQ sticky, it said why do a 6 when you could do an 8? And then why stay at 8 when you can goto 12? ... So, if I want to do a 2" lift, I may as well do a 4... and then I may as well do a 6", then a 8" then a 10, then a 12inch.... so my little Brat turns into MONSTER BRAT.... lol, sorry, just had to say it. (prolly the most confusing thing you have every read, will every read, and you are still going...? huh?) For my 2" lift "upgrade" I am going to put in all solid alloy lift blocks and new hi tensile bolts... It is amazing how cheap the alloy was ($42AUD/$32USD a meter) and it only takes 1300mm to do the whole car. I prefer the solid alloy lifts, but the steel tubing is ok, don't forget to put the round tube in the lift blocks for the bolts to go through..
  11. I know I have one on my 89 Brumby. Anyone know if the 89 splines would be different to the 83 wagon ones?
  12. That looks like junkies new hatch... Wish we got hatches here is Aus... They are so cool. You didn't say coupe in the first post
  13. I might just add (seem some one said M/T's arn't long lasting)... Anyway umm, yeah.. My Kumho Venture M/T's (27x8.5R14's) are very hard compound, they are wearing slower then normal road tires and. Very easy to do burnouts in FWD with my duallie carb EA81. Also they have some bits of tread missing, but mainly from rubbing issues. I have heard that some M/T's are very very soft, but the kumho is quite the opposite...
  14. Hmm... This is making it hard. It is a RX sedan, and from what I can see that is the only car you get 3.7 LSD's in Australia from. Although you say the automatics are most likely open... ahh... Maybe I'll have to wait for another donor car before I buy, one I can make sure it has all the parts I need. Either that or go to the wrecker and spend $$$$ on the diff and brakes. :-\
  15. Great editing, good music... pitty about the low res tho damn free online space. Looked like heaps of fun was had. And I like that old brat, I want one!
  16. No one in the world should have to have dialup.. infact, it should be illegal to use dialup, and broadband should be compulsory for every where... We feel for you man.
  17. Sorry, I have to say this... what is that noise?? It was getting in the way of me hearing the subies! And it was horrible! Again, sorry... Looks like a nice place for some wheelin. I think you need to use some silicone grease on your disty cap tho... I get the same problem when going into deep water. Only other option is head into it VERY slowly, and drive out slow too.. Anyway, If you can call that music, I'd prefer it without music. But it was still good EDIT: that probably came across a bit harsh. I have to learn to respect others tastes...
  18. I would check it, but for the fact the car is 840KM away from me and the guy could only read the word "oil" on the sticker... Oh, and I made a mistake.. it's a 85 Auto RX...
  19. I need to know what type of rear diff I would find in a 87 RX Auto. I want a 3.7 LSD, but I am unsure on what ratio auto RX's have... Anyone know? Cheers, Phiz

    I'm IN!!!

You got one weird lookin jeep there.... :-\ Show 'em what ya got!
  21. Good choice on music And I love those old subies. They look cool. Need some LSD's huh? Me too.
  22. Thanks. I had a real good look yesterday at it and found my struts are already rubbing the strut tower. I was thinking maybe spending some money and putting some good slim line struts in there. Any body know if this is a good thing to do, or a bad thing?
  23. I was thinking of getting my camber fixed on my Brat, because I am getting some road wheels for it and don't want them to wear out so quick. What is needed? From what I can see I need to change the hole positions in my strut lift blocks, and maybe modify/BFH the strut towers.. Has anyone done this? Or should I go out and just stuff the whole lot up with experimenting? At the moment on my 2" lifted Brat I have about 2degrees of positive camber. I would like to get it to 0 or maybe and some negative.
  24. So how did it tow? What sort of speeds could you go? And whats your red Brumby (the one towing) got under the hood again? Just wondering cos I'd like to tow a car on a trailer with mine. Oh, and nice find... looks great. Whats the plan with this one?
  25. I can see how that would be scary... lol "The only thing i would ever use camo..." Would, or did?? haha
