  1. looks just like mine. helps me fix anything commen sense can't figure out. I have found it was missing some details and some year by year difference. But its worded and indexed better then any Haynes manual I have ever read. BTW, I have mainly used this FSM for EA82's, even though I own a EA81. I work on friends and family cars a fair bit and my EA81 doesn't seem to need a manual, its just so simple :-) Oh, one more thing. This manual contains Nothing on turbo models.
  2. My bro's reconditioned EA81 gets 170 in all 4 cyl'ds. Anything under 120 isn't too good. But GD is right, more important is the difference between all 4. Oh, you are messuring in PSI right? If not, these figures may look a little weird.
  3. I could possibly put a CD player in place of the radio, but I can't afford a new one since I blowe up my old (free) player... But it is a possibility.
  4. Well. After putting in the treadplate center console and gauges I lost my radio. I also needed a Amp to power my 6.5" speakers I put in the doors the other day. Because my PDA only has headphone out so it needs a amp to play music in the car. So I got my Bro to mount a radio and Amp in my car. http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/subaru_car_audio.html If you haven't seen my modded dash then you might want to look at this also. http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/pda_gps_console_mod.html Enjoy, and tell me what you think.
  5. I've had 600KG in the back of my Brat (Brumby) with a passenger. I do have Air shockers on the rear that helped the ride. But the trip was a 70km/h only one... Sorry about everything being metric :-\ lol
  6. Probably not a direct swap. But anythings possible with a 5lb hammer
  7. I only see one hard part to your idea, and you said it would be easy, and that is making the drive shafts that would fit. How would you make them? I would be interested.
  8. First thing, make sure you use a button called "Post Reply" when replying, not sometihng like New Thread. Ok, so you get the sound when you are on the gas, when you come off the gas there is no (or little?) sound in the form of clicking?? Try this, drive the car. Make it make the clicking sound. While driving it with the gas at normal driving position, apply a bit of brakes, until you feel the car slowing down against the engine. If the sound goes away it sounds like your brakes. Probably the pads. If the sound persists, then it most likely is one of your CV joints. I have never heard brakes clicking, but I know CV's do it in a very clicky sounding way. And yes CV joints can get to the point where they will click on a straight. Let me ask, were you turning when it started to click? Did you hit the gas and then it started to click? Or were you just going along straight and it started to click? Again, try to only post in the same Thread and please put questions like this in the right place, like Old Gen's section...
  9. Man, those Jeeps run on seom really old fashion wheels!
  10. I would post a pic of the family, but theres only two that run and could park next to each other... When I move both the wrecks to gether and get my bro's wagon out the workshop I will do a pic of all 5
  11. Only thing I've left behind was a piece of my 2" lift, one of the ones that holds the torsion bar onto the body. Bolt sheared and block just disappeared. I made up a new one a few days after the trail when I found it was missing while cleaning.
  12. And it was my idea! :-p Yeah, turned out way better then I thought it would. Now for that bullbar and two 7" spotties on it. Then the light bar on the roof... this wagons gonna be killa!
  13. AUTO????!!!?!!! WTF MAN? lol, sorry. I just think if your gonna have that much power, at least have the fun in a manual! Autos suck IMO. But don't let me stop you, if you like autos, go for it. and a WRX would be so nice. I have so much fun in my parents 85 wagon... I like cornering, and my Brat doesn't corner anymore...
  14. I have folding mirrors on my Brumby, its a 89 model. But my brother has the same mirrors on his 83 wagon... But then again, our 85 bits-r-missin had folding mirrors, and the 85 ford telstar had folding mirrors (until I rolled it down a steep hill.) So I didn't think it was that amazing.
  15. You think thats expencive?? I have to pay $216AUD for rego and 3rd party property insurance on the Brat (Brumby) every 6 months. And its about the cheapest it gets for any car cos I live in the country and its a utility. Would be like $240 for a sedan. And then I still have to pay for 3rd party personal, at $104 for 6 months.... Costs way too much, but tha might be a good thing, cos I only have 1 car, and thats what they want.
  16. www.OffroadingSubarus.com/downloads.html Theres one, hopefully more in the future. Gotta take the Brat out for a drive again soon! And then theres my brothers thrash wagon, when he gets his licence back, that will be fun!
  17. There are plenty of posts, just check in this forum here, read as much as possible. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29 You will need this, and prolly more, I haven't done the swap my self yet. Of cause a EJ engine, you thinking of EJ20t or EJ22t? EJ to EA adaptor plate (1/2" think steel or high grade alloy cut to the right shape,) ECU and wiring loom, or you could use MegaSquirt and a custom loom, Fuel pump, and bigger fuel lines, or just a bigger return fuel line, New radiator, or just new pipes?, Seems you want turbo, you will either need the EA82 turbo engine crossmember, or mod your one to fit the different style of exhaust pipe. Lots of custom work, including things like use of a BFH, and new intercooling pipe maybe. Plus lots more I assume. To fit a EA82T to you car, all you would really need is the Turbo crossmember, fuel pump, ecu and wiring loom. And of cause a few hours of making it work.
  18. They look sorta like my 14"s, which you can still buy new here in Australia http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/kumho_tires.html I also have some that look simular, but in 13" size, no pics as yet.
  19. If I might add. Some times (on many different cars I have worked on) a tappit sounding noise can be a exhuast gasket leak. I know this for sure because I have had it on my Brat, on my brothers 2.2 turbo mazda 626 and on a EA82. It sounds just like tappits, but is just an exhaust leak.
  20. Hey, check out what my bro done with his Fiat X1/9, he calls it the MILO can mod. You americans prolly don't know what Milo is, well its a bloody good chocolate drink! http://roger.beverleypaine.com/fiat.html#Features:%20Pre%202005
  21. Yeah, every body should know this. Might be a good idea to do anywhere you go. Like, just have a hole in your hood there and take the rotor out every time you stop. lol.
  22. Yeah... But have you taken a look at it recently?? ITS WICKED! lol I've spent maybe $5000AUD ($3800USD) on my Brumby (Brat.) But prices are all different over here. Plus I do ALL the work myself. I just don't trust mechanics. They always seem to rip people off and don't seem to do a good job. As in, telling people they have bent valves in a EA82 after timing belt gave up. Or, checking a friends exhaust for leaks and not finding any. Then getting the car home and it turned out the exhuast was lose at the heads and only held on by 1 bolt. Maybe theres good mechanics out there. I just haven't seen one. $2800 for the car, $450 for the bumper, $200 for the rollbar, $80 in head gaskets, glues, bolts, exhuast gaskest (trust me, I had some bad luck) $700 in tires, $20 for intrior extras, total $4280 + 18 months insurance and rego = $5180 And I am adding some new features that will add up to around $600.
  23. Yeah, it turns out I am not going to be getting a EA82T. So I have other ideas. I agree, I don't see why more people are just dumping the old harness and using MS. It seems it would be easier and more adjustible. I guess theres a lot of tuning to do though. But as I said, on to my other idea. I will post more about it as I get it in motion.
