  1. Do you mean "street ricer"? If your in for looks its ricer, if you want to go fast and drag people at the lights then I guess you could say racer. Don't forget, I laugh at "done up" cars, cos most of the time they nevet touch the inners. I think many others do laugh as well. Anyway, lowering is fine. Not all subies have to be monsters. Make sure you get some clean looking mags for it and maybe a side scirt and front air dam. Don't go over board and paint it in pretty shinny colors tho... that makes me sick from the amount of laughing whne people do that.
  2. Well my diff was scrapping all the way thru the the water so I thought I better go fast rather then slow. Only had a L-series with normal road tyres to pull me out.
  3. You could almost make a low frame rate video outta all those. those lights look good
  4. That just sucks mate... need to save up and buy a property just play on I haven't heard of anyone getting fined at the local places I go to, but this is in Australia so things are a bit different, for now...
  5. nice color. funny about the painted wheels... I painted mine (off the car with the tires marsked) but spray paint is **** and it just chips off. I could clean them up and get the powder coated. but... I'm not too keen on those canopies. I know there useful, they just look, :-/ anyway, nice color _________ little brat www.offroadingsubarus.com
  6. wernt they imported as RV's in the US? Brumby has a wosie sound to it, thats all. Brats a more harsh sounding word. I don't really mind. I don't like a few of the people on AUSubaru so I hang out here more, thats why I refer to it as the Brat. makes it easier to newbies to understand.
  7. Whats with the dishes? you trying to talk with the aliens??? I want a old school brat !!! How was the towing? I always wondered if I could tow another cor on a trailer. I know a car trailer would weigh about 600kg and the car about 1200, so I was just woundering what it was like towing that little brat, esp with those tyres.
  8. With the right boss kit you can fit just about any wheel to your EA81.
  9. Yeah that's in SA. I wonder if I could figure out a way to blur the plates in vids. Maybe next time. And if you look at the red O in the video whne its looking under my hood you will see a plug lead come off. I didn't notice it till later. Woops. Forgot to mention. This vid was compressed by divx 6. So guess what, yo need divx6. Sorry about that, but I was having LOTS of problems with my computer and recording off my dv cam. I'll make it easy for you and give you a link directly to the download page http://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/?hp3playdl Just de-tick the options and click download. You don't need to sign up or anything. Another thing I might mention. When I was going thru the water it would get half way in and then cut out for a sec then it would go again. Anyone know what that is? Is it just pushing too much water? Or might that be when the water was flowing over the engine (talking about that I should clean my engine today)?
  10. That's what you get for driving a big crappy car! Try the crushes, they should charge anything, really cheap!
  11. I know a guy who runs a EA82t in RWD. no probs for 9months now I hear. There tough little cars.
  12. As far as I know there Brumbies. 70's or 80's, all Brumbies. Although my 89 Brumby doesn't have any thing on/in it that has brumby written on it, it just says "Subaru Pick-up Truck" on the compliance plate. I like Brat better personally, it sounds tougher.
  13. How about just have a exhaust tip that faces down. Use gravity, it works
  14. Won't be up for too long, running out of server space. So get in before it goes. I think I'll take it down next weekend. Check it out: EDIT: http://www.offroadingsubarus.com (I have taken down the video. I might use some of it in another video. But it is gone for now. but why not visit my site anyhow) Its not on my website, as I can't keep it up there. So just download it at that link. _________ little Brat www.offroadingsubarus.com
  15. good job, I like the pictures in the video. Shows us what you want us to see, instead of us sorting thru 100's of pics. I went for a spin the other day. I got the vid temperally on my site. I'll have to do a post with it. You like that pic of your 88 with the lights on at night huh? Saw it twice nice pic though
  16. heres what I done http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/pda_gps_console_mod.html Is that sort of like what you were thinking? next time you might want to put a better subject on the post? also, why is this been moved to the Offroad section?
  17. I got my brother to hold up 2 6" speakers on the rollbar. didn't look quite right. so I found 2 7" round pans and it looked good. So i think 7" round ones would be cool. These 6x9 lights are square right? If I go for 4 7"s do you think I should get all as spot lights? must be nice driving at night with those Andyjo. I almost need to have my spotties on to drive. old cars have shocking lights.
  18. Dunno, but somehow I don't think so. I think it still uses totally different block and heads. They just look the same. You could probably go to 1.65L? maybe. But, I've only ever seen one once at a junk yard. __________ little Brat www.offroadingsubarus.com
  19. EA71's look almost the same as EA81's. Both are pushrod engines. So its pretty much just an extra 200cc __________ little Brat www.offroadingsubarus.com
  20. NICE ride, matty b. I like the two tone. And the matching dog, lol. I mean 4 round 7 inch lights, what was that about rectangles? I can't quite imagine what your on about. Is it like two 6" squre on the side and 2 6x9 inch in the middel?
  21. As for the exhuast: 2 to 2.5 inch. Stock pipe is about 1.3inch I think (?) So increassing the size of the pipe makes for better flow which makes the engine turn over easier. Weber Carby: This will also increse the flow thru the engine. It will supply more feul and it will supply it better. As in, it will be more accurate and give a better feul air mixture. New air filters are always good. Foam filters are pretty much the best if you clean and oil them regulary. Pod filters are good too. But if you like in a dusty inviroment you will probably want to either just use the stock filter box, or use a box around your after market filter. Other wise you'll be cleaning it more then once a month. I don't know much about the weber carbies though. Someone else might beable to help there. Hey, everyone has to start somewhere. Ask anything you want. So weird that you say its 4x2... Never heard of that in a 80's style brat. Maybe you might beable to get the 4x4 rear end and gearbox. Then find yourself a mud hole and have some fun. Good luck. __________ little Brat http://www.offroadingsubarus.com
  22. Woops. Forgot about that Saab thing. Oh, and alfa's use boxer engines. The 1600 they used in some '33's looks alot like the EA81. Though it has two carbs sitting on top of each head.
  23. Headgaskets are easy, dunno about the reseal. Grab yourself a full service manual. They're great! but if you still can't do it yourself or don't want to. I'd spend that money on a new engine. As for the EJ. you will need a adaptor plate for the gearbox, wiring loom, mounts. If you don't want to do a head gasket, don't go down the path of an EJ ________ little brat http://www.offroadingsubarus.com
  24. I get the same problem with the cheap gaskets I get locally. Maybe I should find some good Subaru ones... __________ little brat http://www.offroadingsubarus.com
