wagon's condition ( My 85 GL)
Phizinza replied to Buddy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm thinking 42" LCD in the boot, rear seats turned around, 5.1 sound, wireless internet, and a decent computer. lol... Nah, decent sound (2 six inch speakers, one 15" sub, and a nice head unit) maybe a indash computer with a 7" screen pluged into the ECU. That would be nice I reckon. If you go to EJ you should put in a AWD. I think you'd (and everyone else) would be stupid to make it RWD. Its 4WD or AWD. Its a subie for*sake. -

Sound system is cool. Lowered is cool. But DVD system.. man, can't you just have one of those in your home. Or are you planning on having the car as your home? Wireless internet too? -

About the worst cutting your fenders can do is make them rust faster. Make sure you give the cut areas a re paint or cover them up with rubber and use a little grease to stop the rust.

I bought my car with 2 torn boots. Replaced them and everything is good. I did have to replace an axle not so long ago, but it wasn't the one with torn boots If you go and replace the whole axle everytime it wouldn't be very cheap to run a subie now would it? Its very easy to put the new boots on. Take the shaft out, pull the inner CV boot back away from the cup. Find a clip in the cup (its a ring that runs arounf the inside of the cup) pull it off and the race should slide out of the cup. then theres a clip ring around the shaft holding the race on the shaft. Remove it with the right tool, then slide the race off the shaft. Make sure you remember which way the race went on the shaft (it does matter, trust me.) Then slide the boot off, you can also slide the outter CV boot off the shaft at this point. clean out the grease with your fingure.. Pack in the new grease (should come with the boots, if not its molydisulfide grease that you need. Never use anything else) slide the new boots on and put the race back on the shaft. Put the race back into the cup and put that clip ring in again. All should be good, we hope. I should add that this is the method I used for my EA81 Brat, it maybe different on a turbo'd EA82. But I would imagin it to be the same. You never do know with these car manufactures. Hmm, I might of missed something, so check that other link as well.. Good luck. ________ 89 Brat http://www.offroadingsubarus.com

Wish I could get pug wheels like that here in Australia.. Most of the good looking ones here are metric.. thats right, METRIC.. so they only take special tyres. Looking good for a loyal. That's just what my parents wagon needs. -
Hmmm... not good on your arrival time down a steep slope. might bend a few props ( sorry about speeling, its 33degrees C in my house :-\ )

2 video clips, impreza &chuxwagon mud/water dunk!
Phizinza replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Off Road
Like the first one, but can't find your other one... When I goto http://usmb.net/gallery/view_album.php?page=13 it takes me to http://usmb.net/gallery/albums.php and I can't find a page 13... Also that other link doesn't work. So how did the door seals and other seals stand up to it? No water in the car? Junkie, you running linux or something? Why can't they make all things work on linux. Oh, then it would be as bad as windows... -
Yes, it does reverse direction Damn! also its $3200AUD.

yeah, I think its only the turbo models with 25 splines. Though I have never had the wheel off on my parents 85wagon. But from what I hear they should be the same. Then again they use different bolt pattern on the top of the struts. I'll see if I remember to check in the morning.

next time I'll use my video camera. And a small little suprise is in store. one clue, wireless.

ea81 coupe vs ea81 sedan - some details please
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
bump, for before its moved to p2 -
Thanks for posting that link nicky nighteyes. I'm thinking i might use WMV next time. what are peoples thoughts? It sure would make it easier to view. But slightly bigger I think. You think the cars pretty good offroading? I thought the springs were to hard and no lsd's make it sad but it sure has some guts over 3k rpm
-
lol... yeah, and its very sandy. Yeah, you'll need divx 5.2 or higher... I normally use older codecs but... hmm... sorry. You know your music It lined its self up very well with the movie.. only had to work it a little and it was great ...

Just finished editing up a new video. Hope you like it. Its only 3.7MB and 1min 15sec long so it shouldn't take long to download. Sorry about the quilty and no sound (its got music tho,) cos it was only done on a picture camera. But thats all my bro had at the time. *EDIT* warning: its only mild stuff. www.OffroadingSubarus.com/downloads.html It's at the top, Enjoy!

I am after the wheel base of both these vehical (is it the same on both?) Also after the weights of both cars. And another thing, are the coupe doors the same as brat doors? and are hatch doors the same again? That one isn't important though Thanks for any info. __________ 89 Brat, www.offroadingsubarus.com

..... ??? I reckon my ea81 with 2" pipe sounds better then ALL STi's. But then again, I'm not much a fan of those 4" tip fart can rumbles.. The only thing I don't like about the sound of my ea81 is the rattles under the hood I have thought of this idea as well. The main point is to get it out of rocks way. I also though a better idea would be just to have the pipe sticking out the fender by half an inch. You'd want good door seals! and not care about your paint.

Phizinza replied to NewDriverOlderRide's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
do you mean http://ramengines.com ? or do you mean http://www.sub4.co.nz ? There the only preformance sites for old subies I know of. -
Yeah they do look cool. You planning on putting four up there? Side topic: What do you think about me putting 4 7" round spotties on my brats rollbar? Cheers, http://www.offroadingsubarus.com
