Classy looking.. I'd look into getting one too if I were in the USA and had a new gen subie.. lol.. thats a fair bit of "if"s... That number plate mount is legal??
-
by the looks of it the only bit is on the front. Where the mud flap bolts on, next to that plastic gard tha sits inside the front fender, theres a bolt that looks like it would be in the way. Soo, no real fender trimming I think. I'll prolly find out when I get them on. I will have to drive the car on some 13"s with 2 165/70R13's and 2 205/65R13's for tavelling, but mudding tyres would rock! I don't mind having to change the wheels every so offen... Plus the 14" Venture M/T's have 18/32 of an inch of tread depth! the bigger ones only have 13/32"... Thanks for the words of encouragement. I think I'm going to order them tomorrow!
-
Yeah... the 27" M/Ts are the biggest 14" tyre I've seen. I'm really thinking of ordering these tyres... I'll wait for some more replies and maybe tomorrow I'll order a set in. Should take maximum of a week to get them here and on my wheels..

I want to get something done before the 11th of next month. On the 11th I'm heading up to the Flinders Rangers. (Its a huge bunch of hills in outback South Australia which has some good offroading spots.) At the moment I'm running on 185/60R14 Dunlop road tyres (22"). My choices are... Thanks to offroadsubaruguy I have found some cool M/T tyres to go on my 14" rims. Kumho Venture M/T 27x8.5/14's. But they will cost me $175AUD fitted each (the BFG A/T tyre would cost me $198 fitted.) Wearing isn't much of a problem. offroadsubaruguy has said they last a long time, and I will do most of my long distance on a set of old 13" tyres. My other choice is to get some second hand 15" rims with 28" or 29" tyres and cut the hell out of my 2" lifted Brat, also drill out the hubs. That will cost me a little under $200 all up. With some less then half tread old tyres (that I probably won’t have a choice on tread pattern). Also I might not be able too find 15" rims with the same size dish as mine, that means I would need to bend the fenders out or get $400 worth of fender flairs (otherwise the cops would pull me over and find the other two obvious illegal parts of my car, very dark tint, 320mm steering wheel. And theres a few others.) Any other options I have? Please post what you think I should do... I'm thinking of getting the 14" M/Ts. So much easier to fit, I only have to cut one little mount point for the mud flaps on the front. And there muding tyres!

Ahhhh. Some good 'ol driving. Nothing like it! Need more parts in the RX? Get it so it does more then keep up, get it so it overtakes! Muhahahah

I done some research on the Kumho AT & MT's. The australian Kumho site has them on it so it looks like I might be able to them. I've heard the MT's last almost as lOng as the AT's. Sounds like there just a little louder, no problem for me I don't care about that. I'm going to call around to get a price. I'm thinking they will be $100 to $120 each (OUCH) I base this on the $80USD price. Time to go ask for some more money :-/

I hope I can get some here is Australia. I was thinking about getting 15" wheels like I said before. But it would require fender triming, finding ones that didn't stick out beond the car, hub drilling, and lots of looking to find the right ones with small enough tyres. Plus I want some off-road tyres by the 11th of next month! Hahaha. Also, hows the wear on some of those MT Kumho??? I would be very interested to know. I don't drive my subie a whole lot, and I plan on doing a lot more offroading.. Not just trying to get down our drive way (luckly our house is right at the road, but if you want something from one of our sheds, theres a fair bit of mud to get thru now, after all the rain) Thanks guys.. Oh, and would any Ozzie here know if I can get a AT or MT 14" tyre here?
-
It ddn't say what sizes they come in.. do they come in 14"? I couldn't find any 14" AT tyres on the Aus websites of Dunlop, Bridgestone, Yokahama, BFgoodrich, GoodYear, and some others.. I spent 3 hours searching yesterday :-( So are there 14" tyres? It would save me a lot of work, doing fender widening and cutting, and hub drilling.

Reverse gear slipping out.

Lukas oil? Would I be able to get that here in aus? Maybe I should ask a local message board about what oil would smooth up my box. At the moment if I want to change gears fast I need to dubble pump the clutch. Thanks for your help guys. I'll check out the linkage and report back if it helps. -
great to have you.. soon you will be a subaru guru! good luck with it. see ya around then.

I also have a problem using second low range. When I try to put it in the shifter nob hits the 4WD leaver. Could that also be the same problem? Or does this tell you what might be the problem? Thanks -
In my 4 speed D/R Brat gearbox. Is this just warn out gears? or can I fix it? Its when I reverse pretty hard, can't say if its speed or the torque of the motor. It just slips out when reversing (harder then normal) It gets a little annoying trying to get out my drive way in the wet...

I just used a screw driver, and my eye.. Oh, and also my brother. LOL
-
I agree... But its a lot more work, and I don't have anytime to do it. I will have to try and cover it up.. Unless I just get some offroading tyres for my 14"s... Its just so damn expencive to get new tyres... I need a job...... Yeah, already thought of that one. I normally do that for all my drilling. Still trying to get my bro to do the same. lol P.S. I need to go to a tyre shop ASAP...

Most of the noise come from the power... Good stereos filter it out. Bad ones need filters, you can get these at electronic and auto stores. What is this "static" suppose to do bad?

theres a post in there that has road signs... Check out the guys gallery too. I haven't done it too my car yet. But I'm just too lazy.

try putting metho on it then scrap it off? I have this really good stuff that softens just about anything. I got it from my grand dad, it's like petrol without the additives he said. It works wonders, but I haven't seen anything like it anywhere else... I'd try chemicals to soften it, then scrap at it. -
that is always a problem isn't it... what outside diameter are they? I'm looking for 27"-28"... I don't mind trimming a bit so bigger the better I guess.
-
Yes, i have read the F.A.Q. But this is about something slightly different. I have a choice, new 14" tyres or second hand 15" drilled 6lug wheels and tyres. There is a "u-pull it" wreckers near me, it would cost about $170aud to get the second hand wheels and tyres that are less then half warn. And what I know of new tyre prices it would turn out to be $400aud or more. So, should I get new wheels and drill them? Or just get new tyres. Obviously new tyres are going too be better offroad performance, but how bad would older ones be?
