  1. No. It isn't legal, but plenty of people do it, and not many get cought.
  2. alrighty.. Looks like a good idea. I'll have to get my bro (works in a hardware store) to get me a plunger. Thanks for the help guys.
  3. Hmmm.. I'll have to keep my eye out for a LSD. What subarus did they come on? I haven't looked into it much so I have no idea what to look for. Apart from the sticker on the back of the diff that says "LSD" on it. I'll also have to get a 3.7:1 right?
  4. Thanks every body. I'll be having a closer look at it tomorrow. Its not that I don't want a dent because it might be illagel, theres enough on the car that is alrealy inc too dark tint, 320mm steering wheel, ect ect. I just don't like having a big dent that tells me every time I open the door that I'm a stuipd idiot.. lol.. The car has plenty of other small dents and big ones that arn';t visible.. But I don't like these ones. Soo I'll try my hardest to get them out straight. Also, What do you think I should buy first, offroading tyres or a electric winch?
  5. can I get to the other dent via one of those panels in the tray? I guess I should just go have a look. I can't figure out how to get the inside door paneling off :-\ I can't get the window winder off.
  6. Yesterday I showed my brother how stupid I was. We were driving over our newly laid gravel driveway. It is pretty soft stuff, because it needs to get wet and settle down, then it goes like rock. Anyway, I was getting close to the edge, we live on a steep hill, that is just top soil fill. I was backing up and then it got sorta slippery. But by the time I noticed the whole car slide off the side of the drive way. Front left wheels were on the gravel and the other too down in the lose top soil. the only thing holding the car from going further was a small tree. Damn tree put a few dents in my car which I gotta try and get out because I hate big dents ... So I tried to drive out, but my left rear and right front just spun. So I tried the handbrake trick... Didn't help, by then the car had gone another foot done the hill. I thought of going done the hill, but that would of made the situation worse. So anyway. We tried to tow it out with a FWD Ford Telstra, I don't think a Toyota 4x4 would pull that out on our nicely fresh driveway... So we used a hand winch and about an hour later we got it out ... Not it has broken trim on the left door, a big dent that looks a little worse then it did yesterday. and a dent behind the door I have no idea how to get out.. Anyway, heres some pictures of it, sorry they look so bad, had to use my PDA camera because I gave mine to my parents when they went on holiday. Damn I feel so stupid... I'm also no very happy with my Subie, though she would be better then that. Doesn't help with 185/60r14” road handling tyres I guess. http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/subaru/stupid/HPIM0142.jpg http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/subaru/stupid/HPIM0144.jpg http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/subaru/stupid/HPIM0152.jpg http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/subaru/stupid/HPIM0153.jpg http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/subaru/stupid/HPIM0154.jpg I didn't want to post them here as they are a little big, 300kb each, hope you don't mind doing some clicking. Oh, and BTW, thats my brother, Roger.
  7. Wow... its green there... Here is Aus we haven't had real rain since last november. Man, I want a XT now
  8. EA81 or EA82? Turbo model? omg, little blue men.....
  9. get on some dirt, rev it up, let out the clutch and you'll soon know its front wheel drive
  10. Yeah, I know not to come off the power. Its just because its understeering I correct it, maybe I'll try to just let it silde then straighten up. Maybe then it wont get massive oversteer... I gotta go out today, so I guess I'll go give that a go
  11. I saw a EA82 turbo (with out tranny) going on ebay.com.au, might still be trying to sell it, $1000 or something... Anyway, good luck with looking for one.
  12. I'm running old Clarion 4" speakers in the doors. Also a 12" sub behind the drivers seat. Check out my site, http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/mysubaru.html. There should be a picture of the sub on that page. Oh, by the way, I had to lose 1 notch on the seat adjustment.
  13. Well, I finally got my subie back together. Clutch + some little extras. I took her for a drive on the dirt. It seems 80% of the time whe I get her side ways she first understeers then I correct a little and then she OVERSTEERS!!! So the I correct and i seem to zig zag up the road for a bit... In my bros 88' Ford Telstra turbo (Mazda 626) what happens is you turn into the corner, get it sideways and it just understeers till it straightens up. Any ideas or tips you could give me so I don't kill my self one day by driving my poor subie off the road? I would gladly accept anything, even "your just crap at driving" because I'm starting to think that myself......
  14. I paid $30AUD inc postage for a second hand one, on ebay. There like $130 new...
  15. I always hate to see burnt out cars. Especially subies. :-( What parts of the engine have you salvaged? I hope theres more you can use then you think it is... hard luck mate.
  16. Just to let you know. A dud thermostat will only run the engine cooler. Because when they go dud now they only go dud in the open position, which will let the water, coolant, through. Back in the 50's they used to be able to go wrong in both, open and closed. So a dud thermostat should only make your engine cooler, less efficient, and not last as long (but that wont really be noticeable
  17. I agree with the yellow, as I like unique things.. But, I do say it is a silly question (a bit like asking what wheels should I get) so my final answer would be, what every colour you would like the most. just have a look in google for "brat colors" and you'll see a few examples of what the different colours look like... Good luck oh, what colour is it at the moment, you still haven't emailed me pics of it!
  18. maybe just a bad connection on the alt? or in the dash some wheres?
  19. the part you talk of is just a tube right? got an angle grinder? just get a bit of pipe from a hardware store that is the same thickness and cut a bit off
  20. Yeah.. don't take the chance. Spend some time on the net looking up your coil... Then put it in. Just about every coil now is the 10v type. But they are making them with inbuilt ballast's now... bad thing if you ask me, more heat = shorter life...
  21. your talking about the lift blocks right? what size lift are you running? I run a 2" lift at the moment, that mean 2" blocks all round.. When i first got the car it didn't have the rear torsion bar tensioned up, so the car was level and the "prop shaft" has going downward towards the rear diff. Long story short, I tightened up the torsion bar and now the back is up higher, but the "prop shaft" is straight now... I noticed a lot of people use 4" front and 3" rear lift. This would cause the "problem" you are talking about... thats if I under stood what you are talking about...
  22. has the front suspension been jacked up? you can normally tell this if there is a nut(s) in between the plate the spring sits in and the plate that plate sits on... as for stock camber I wouldn't know. I will see if my manual has anything on that.
  23. Doesn't this belong in the "Subaru powered boat?" post in the "Subaru Transplants" forum? I like it...
  24. hey there.. I use a Mallory Promaster, forgot the number but i posted to the Tech Articles page (just click the readers rides button to get to the link.) I looked around for a few days to find out if it needed the ballast risistor. I found out that the old ones do, but they (mallory) started to make them with inbuilt ballast. So I found out it needed a 1.5Ohm ballast, stock Subie is 1.4Ohm i think, so I just use that. BTW, Mr. Gasket makes both Mallory and Accel. I didn't notice a difference till I opened my gap up to 1.3mm, dunno what that is in inchs. Anyway, check out the Coil article, it may help you...
  25. haha.. I've given up on that "lego ability", I've had clutch problems for a while now, finally just got a "non subaru" thrust bearing that looks like it willl do the job 400% better... Everything I buy seems to not fit my model.. I thought they were all the same.. Maybe I just have had some bad times, hopefully it gets better soon.... Good luck with da dash..
