I was just wondering what this would do, would it be of befit? More high end power? More low end power? Any other pros or cons? Also how much it might cost?

oh my god... that is really really sad.. just ruended my day, well its 11PM so not really. You sure theres no more donor cars? Anywhere? how about making fiberglass panels for it? Maybe just put the engine and that in a brat and autocross that! Anyway, sad day for subaru, my subie is missing its engine right now... doing the clutch on it, has the wrong on it right now. Very sad day for subie roo.

I rev my Brat to 5200 and a bit maybe ever so offen. Back to the subject. You have driven other subarus? If not, maybe stengllhm is right. Or maybe you do have a problem.. By what you have said, yeah check your timing, not hard if you have a timing light.

thats one crazy sick ride man.. hope it goes as good as it looks!

Clutch problem, wrong clutch maybe?
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
http://www.coximport.com/daikin/subaru.html has three clutchs for 1.8l brats. two 200mm ones and one 225mm one. by what that site says I should use the 225mm one. http://www.drivewire.com/subaruparts/catalog/subarubratclutchdisc.html That site says I should use the 225mm one as well. http://www.speedyperformanceparts.com/exedy_su_brat_clutch-disc_z.html Says I should use the 200mm one. So I'm going to look at the clutchs my local mech has and try to get the 225mm, thats only if the thrust bearing I have will fit it. As I think thats what it wrong with the clutch I have, the thrust bearing is too small for the fingures. Anyway, dinner time. -

hahaha, i think i should of heard that 2 years ago ! its just too much fun having a pocketpc to surf the net anywhere in the house, and 200watt sub for the living room, and one for car, and its too much fun in my subie! I'll look into doing shock lift on the rear. I've already asked BYB for a quote on a 4" kit and postage. i'll just have to get a job very soon.

Will I have to get a hole kit? There like $180AUD! Or do I just need a new plate and thrust bearing? Also, does the 89 Brumby/Brat use 200mm or 225mm clutch? -
I made that misstake again... damn it, I'll really try to call them shocks in future. Thanks. I've jacked the rear torsion bar up full, ony problem is when I go on uneven surface one wheel instantly comes off the ground, turning my car into a 2WD and most of the time 0WD becuase of the diff's. So I am going to lower the back suspension back down and also the front. I've used the "coil over things" (them two bolts that compress the spring) Anyway, I've wound them up real tight, I'm putting back to stock 2" lift in a bit. So.. I've also though of the engine transplant. But that would have to wait awhile, as I need a job first. I already have a intrest free loan with my brother and its upto $5500, I do have a bike and some computers to sell. But still leaves me with $1500 I need to pay off. The guy I got the car off of was offed $1500 for the motor only. Its a little suped up. And then theres the cost of new tyres..... So, I guess I'll just lower the car a bit and wait till I can aford new lift kit, tyres, and all the other parts I need. Thanks for your help. I need to fit the new rollbar tonight, should look awesome, if I get it done I'll post it up. P.S. all the $ in this post are in AUD Australia dollars, thats why they look a little high :-p

I have a 2" lift. I found that I do have strut lift on the front (after thinking I didn't, but I see it now) I don't have it on the rear. I have Air shocks btw, does that make it different? I just want to know what metal I should use to make the rear strut lift. I've seen pictures of the bracket, But can't figure out what metal to use. 5mm alloy? 5mm steel? Anyone? I really just want a 4" lift kit. But I bought a rollbar and bullbar so m budget is ferther out the window now (thanks bro for the loan!)

this part of the forum doesn't get much looking at does it..... LOL

edit: read fourth post please. When I got my Brat it had a squeaky thrust bearing, or you may call it a throughout bearing. The guy said he replaced the clutch bu he got the wrong thrust bearing with the clutch kit. When I got a new bearing for the Brat it was the wrong one, I asked for a bearing to fit a 89 Brumby. I got a bigger one that I suspect would fit a EA82, as I said it was a “89” Brumby Maybe there books were wrong. Anyway, I got the right one and it was a lot cheaper!! Less then 30% of the price. I put it in and it worked great. My dad, who uses the ute sometimes to take 500L of water to another one of our properties, said the clutch slips and he wanted me to adjust it. I can’t adjust it anymore as it doesn’t clear and it won’t change gear with out lots of crunch or stoping the car. Now. I’m thinking maybe it’s the wrong clutch. Because the guy who sold it to me got a kit with the bigger wrong bearing. Could of this been an EA82 clutch? Would it fit straight on? Would it cause problems? Like wearing out the trust bearing, I am one of those people that can’t stand little squeaks in a car at all! Help me please!

Hmm.. I think we'll just have to live with this mad world.

listen for bearing noise of cause. also when the engine is running take off the oil can and see if any exhaust gases are coming out of there. check the suspension is good, ie if it keeps bouncing after you push the strut up and down a few times it means its bad. also check theres no exhaust gases coming out the radiator. theres lots more you can do, but it sounds like a good ride. and a good price. good luck with it mate

Yeah. I've wanted one of those sakers, only the SV1 version, since I saw them back in 2001. Sweet machines and there kinda cheap. $23,000AUD gets you a WRX in there setup. Anyway. I'll have to take some more messurments. I'll look into the 2WD version of the gearbox. Might just work. We saw a Alfa 33 today with a flat four. The running gear is designed by Subaru I've heard, The 2WD version we saw had a pretty short box. It might just work. I still think he should use a Subie motor, more power and easy ready for turboing. Thanks for the input, I forgot about the 2WD boxes!

I'm after the size of a normal and tiptronic subaru gearbox. Length is the main messurment I am after. My brother is thinking about fitting a EJ subie engine into a Fiat X19. Could be hard, but it looks possible. I was thinking about using a EA82 5 speed in there but it appears it would stick out the back of the car about 10"s :-/ Also how hard would it be to convert one of these trans into just front wheel drive, as the Fiat X1/9 is a mid engine car it needs a front wheel drive set up to drive the rear wheels. Anyhow, know what I'm on about?? Thanks

Should I gut it out, or replace it with a bit of pipe? It sounds like its leaking and I hate to spoile the sound of this wonderful beast. If you think i should gut it out. How do I go about doing this? Any links you can get me? Thanks mates

Good video. I think you could do wit hsome more close up outside of the car shots. I didn't really see what that RX was driving over, I guess it would look better with bigger video, but I just think you need to get closer. It looks like fun anyway. good luck with the rest of it

ahhh right. I'll have to have a look at it when it gets back home. I see why lift kits cost a so much. I just thought there was blocks you put in. But hteres more. Ok, I'll get it a look. I really want to put a 4" lift in, its illagel but I bet I could convince the local cop that its fine. He doesn't seem to know the law to well... I'll just have to save up then. Hey, go to my site and click the adverts, that gets me money! Lol, don't think google will like me now.
-
I don't see any extenders on the front or rear. Its only a 2" lift, I just thought these didn't come with extenders.
-
maybe I'll have to do the illagle, and put in a 4" lift and soften up the suspension.

Is this stupid question or something? Do i not make myself clear? Ahh... Anyone want to post?

I posted this article about a week back.. same sorta question. One guy said he knows someone who had it happen :-\ http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35032
