  1. I don't have a turbo. But on my Brat I had a bad leek where they bolt onto the cylinder head. Most of the bolts holes were stripped. So I put inserts in the heads and done them up real tight with new gaskets. No bad noise, more power. I think it would make more difference with a turbo. But every one should make sure there exhurst isn't leeking before upgrading anything for more power.
  2. Ok. I have a 2" lift on my brat (the most thats legal here in Aus) I have done the nut up that makes the rear suspension stiffer and higher. I also have used bolts and spacers to make the front higher too. The only problem is when I jack the brat up as soon as the jack lifts the body the wheel comes off the ground. That means the suspension wont go anyferther down. So when I'm offroading if I come a cross a bump it can lift off a wheel (and I don't have a LSD or luck diff) so then it just spins. How you yous guys normally set up your offroading beasts? I really like the stiffness on the road, great handeling. But will I have troubles offroading like this? Thanks
  3. I've just put champion thred inserts into my heads. I replaced all 4 bolts. The thred inserts are like a big bit of thred with a threded hole in the middle. I also didn't have to take the engine out (i just got under the car and drilled them out.) But these only worked with 13mm drilled holes. Anyway. I done them up as hard as I can with my 10" ratchet. I was supprised I could do them up that tight. But it doesn't leek at all now (I also used new gaskets of cause) The Champion thred inserts cost about $9AUD each.
  4. good enough reasons for me. my bro always says "you and fit anything in anything, u just have to try"
  5. gee. I'd settle with a EJ22. ER27 fit with a 6 inch lift and modded radiator mounts i hear. BTW, there is anouther subie motor. forgot the letters but its a 33 :D
  6. yeah. I am really thinking about an EJ22.. I just have no money So, for hard offroad no turbo. Well that answers my question. I do use my car as a daily (more like every so offten, when it comes out of the workshop) driver. But I want it good in real tricking places. And I don't have the money for a turbo (I could "get" it if I wanted a turbo enough) Anyway. Thanks for the advice. I think I need a street car. I'll get a job then one of these http://www.saker.co.nz with an WRX EJ20 in it. Thanks again.
  7. Great. Maybe if enough of us email them they will read what it is about
  8. sorry to sound dumb.... FHI??? whats that? I tried sending them to Subaru (the USA site) they sent back something along these lines 'sorry, we cannot help you. you may want to contact your local (australian) Subaru." I'm like wtf??? I just sent them a link to this site saying have a look.. and please think it over. Oh well, maybe next time I'm in sydney I'll drop in to Subaru with some pictures. Oh wait, I've never been to sydey.... EDIT: oh and thanks.
  9. SWEET!!!... wow, looks good. How many inch's of lift is that???? That's what I'm kinda thinking about doing. But 25mph?? is that how fast your aloud to go under the car?
  10. Thanks.. I'l give that a go when I'm next working on my car... which is very soon
  11. sorry. I jus love that scoop.. theres no way I'm taking it off :-p
  12. just wondering if a turbo in my brat would give it more performance with offroading. If so, what would it help with?
  13. but if he didn't have it on there... imagine the under side of that porche. its worth it in my way of thinking.
  14. does the 89 brumbies hydraulic lifters as well?
  15. How do I know if my brat is running to rich? I have heard that it blows a lot of petrol smoke when I floor it. It also doesn't need choke to start (I just use have to give it a few dabs of throttle.) Its a EA81 twin weber carb setup btw.
  16. I think theres a pick of a 2 seater baja on the brat thred I done.. check out the link in my sig, it should take you there.
  17. well.. you could adjust the torsion bar to the softest, then cut the front springs.. But why do you want to lower it??!!? RAISEEEEE her up!
  18. hey, Welcome. To bad about that subie.. Just fix it up! never let a soob to go the next life.... (the dump) Have fun here, I know I do!
  19. soobmater, what else is in the car (see what Numbchux ask, try and answer that too) When you ask questions, you only ever get half answers. I run 2" lift on my brat (ea81 of cause) replacment suspention (dunno if its special) rear torsion bars cranked to full high adjustment, fronts to go up another 1" when I get the spring compressors back form my bro, fenders not trimed yet, but planning to soon (when I get bigger tires) 14"/6" white sunraysia's, And with all that... I have 185/60/R14's......... Yeah, I'm looking at getting 195/85/r14 or 215/75/r14's I'll have to trim back a couple of inchs for them tho
  20. Curtesy lamp, some manuals use weird names.. lets call it a inside light. Any way, I noticed the door buttons were missing the other day. So I pulled out the wires thru the hole. Theres one black and one red. I connected them together but still no power at the light (I used a multimeter, not just the light globe) I've pulled out the inside light and cleaned it up, all the connections seem find up there. Is there something i'm doing wrong with the wires down by the door? Or what, all fuses are fine. I really want to put a CB up there but if theres no power... I'd have to do a lot more then what I planed. Should the door switch wires just connect to them selves? or should one connect to earth? Thanks
  21. haha.. I'm just worried that my exhurst is gonna be hit while im offroading, I only have a 2" lift. Does anyone else do this? Or dosnt it matter to much it the under body gets hit.
  22. I've done some work on it.. I gave it a different slope on the windscreen and took off the spoiler. I also added a bit in the back to make it look more real. Do you like this one?
  23. I was thinking of doing this to my car my self. Any ideas? I was going to use 3mm think aloy plate. Any pics you guys know of? Show me!
  24. Welcome! The EJ22 convertion seems harder to me then every one says, mainly because of the wiring loom. I'm not sure about newer subies, but I think there all the same when it comes to reliability. Maybe its just time to find another one with less miles on it. Anyway, just surf around and you'll learn too much to remember. lol... it is, but I don't have a job as such yet so we'll be expecting more:grin:!
