91 Loyale ride height adjust question.
Phizinza replied to Todd in Seattle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Is it the torsion bar set up or normal springs? I just fixed up my torsion bar suspention on my Brat. I had to pull out the crossmember and clean it right up because I couldn't move that nut. I'm not sure how you get to the nut on the wagons or sedans but for the Brats you need to get under the car. If its the spring typre I wouldn't have a clue. Anyways, just my 2 cents. -
SWEEEET brat!!! Them wheels look awesome, what size are they? And you said the tyres are 31" huh? I see why you need the lift now..
-
Well.. I wouldn't buy an auto even if my life depended on it, hmm maybe I would. I say manual, better economy and way more fun to drive. But if your just lazy the auto might be for you. What do you prefer, auto or manual? For what you want to do, both will be good (unless that farm story is right.)

needs 6" lift!!! lol. Very clean car, looks nice. Great ride mate.

I have a set of 14x6" wheels and I want to put some better tyres on them. I currentlly have 185/60's I done some calculations and some messurements and came up with these sizes (that would need barly and trimming, cos they all ad upto almost 27"s) 185/90 195/85 205/80 215/75(or 80) 235/70 255/65 What would you go for? For off-road of cause. Now I don't really have the luxury of brands as they are very limited around here I was thinking either extremely wide or extremely narrow. I was also thinking the 195/85's sounds like a getable size.. I've never heard of "/90's" before. What would you pick?

EA82, 240k, bent valves, replace?
Phizinza replied to lebnjay's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
"bent valves"... I hate it when people try to rip you off... -
Yeah, I see what you mean. But I am trying to keep the bar as much original as i can (with still making it look different) I kinda like the bump, and the spoiler is.. well, I like it :-p.. Still, I like the brat i done better. I'll have to get a page up on my site with all these. I've been a little slack latlly.

here in Australia its illegal to use a cell phone while driving. If you get cought you lose your licence for 6months i think, and a fine. I know some one how was on there phone and drove out into someone. It really is a stupid thing to do, be on the phone while driving that is. The only accednt I've be in is when I rolled my brothers ford telstar down a s&$# scary slope twice. But it didn't hurt so it was ok, just one foot from death thats all :-\ Good luck on the insurance stuff. Hope you get every thing plus some!

What it should of looked like.
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ahh.. but you see, I put a little more effort in :-p I gave it all those features the old one has. like the sloop behind the doors, the bump on the roof for the roll-bar, and the right shape for the doors too. Anyway, I'll shut up about how much better mine is :-p And give you guys and girls a new link. I posted this in the new gen subarus forum.... right here! What do you tihnk? -
Ok. I mainly done this because after making the new brat My brother asked me to make a WRX Convertible. Well heres what I started with And this is what it turned into :::EDIT::: 22/04 How about that one? I shortened the wheel base. took off the roof and B pillars, re-drew the spoiler, and done some touching up. So what do you think of it? I personlly like the hard top version, but this looks kinda cool. I know some people who would prolly pick it over the original.
-
I know.. This one is new. And for removing the engine... its a breeze compaired to the other cars I've fixed. I just want to know, are they the same? or are they different?
-
uhhhh... Anyone? This is the first time one of my post has made it oneto the next page without an answer! Its a bloody simple question aint it?
-
Hey, Is there any difference between EA81 and EA71 (1600cc, right?) clutch's? I'm having probs with mine, not very old i think, and I found one i might be able to pick up real cheap. So, will it work with my 89 Brumby/Brat?
-
Hmm.. I have the same prob.. damn legal side of life.. I was thinking of just putting in a 4" lift, and forgetting about the laws, not like i live in the city. The local cop prolly doesn't even know the law. I wouldn't go as far as 12".. check out subarubrat's site, think its subarubrat.com. I never knew there was a aus forum!!! maybe I can get some help from them with parts i need. My next mod is prolly gonna be tyres as 185/60/R14's are kinda crap!

EA82 Dizzy re-curve a success
Phizinza replied to heep70's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do you think this would help me get more power down low on the RPM range for my Brat? I know a place here in South Australia that should be able to help me.. There called SubaModz, so I'm hoping they mean it. I'm going to also look into high comp pistons, I've heard they can help with the low end power too. Can you give us more info on what was done to the dizzy? And what parts were worked on? Thanks -
CV joint, wheel bearings or what?
Phizinza replied to spideyz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had to do one of my rear bearings in my brat. It was making a wearing noise in a circular way :-\ don't ask me what I mean... I pulled it out and re-greased it. It still made the noise after that so I bought a new one, pretty cheap $38AUD, and poped it in. I had to use a press for that. I tried the hammer, but it was on there way to hard. And the press makes it so easy. I just used the local mech shops press. They charged $10AUD. And w'llar, it works like new. Of cause if its the front, it will take a bit longer to do. I thought I had a front bearing on the way out, but turned out to be a skweeekie odometer. :-\ I also had CV truble after fixing the boots, I put the CV back together wrong. It cracked the race casing and it sounded like CLONK CLONK when turning, and TICK TICK TICK TICK all the way home. But I just went to u-pull it and got a new race casing for $10! better then spending $160 on a hole new CV. Anyway. Good luck with it. -
I must be blind! Any help finding this post please.

New coil, Mallory Promaster
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The Mallory Ballast Resistor #700 (the one for the ProMaster #28720) is a 1.5Ohm resistor. The one in my brumby/brat is a 1.4Ohm. So it would probably work a slight bit better with the Mallory resistor. But mine should do. Well, that's it! -
New coil, Mallory Promaster
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thought I should post this, as it is the answer I've been looking for. I searched on google Mallory Promaster Resistor. It came up with this one a few lines down http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/ProVoltCoil.pdf and this http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/28720_29440_29625_29450.pdf They say with the #28720 ProMaster you need a ballast resistor only one that doesn't is #29450 and and newer. Soo it looks like I've done it the right way after all. Unless the resistor's have difference resistence. I'll be looking itto that next. -
