was there ever such thing as a EA61?? I think that's what I knew the old 1.6lr subies to be. Saw it somewhere, was it a misstake? Is there just EA71 81 and 82's? -

Anyone think the Iridium's are good? I know a guy with bosch iridiums in his 98' RX. He says they are great, and they are also suposto go for much much longer, + more power. Any thoughts? -

lol.. Mallory told me it needed the risistor! I might take the risistor off and let the motor run for a while while holding the coil, make sure it doesn't get to hot. Then I'll deside what to do. I'll give the gap a go.. Then when I get my wires I might look into some new plugs. Thanks Carven and every one else! -
I have 185/60/R14's.. there a bit bigger then the 175/75/13's, I want new tyres tho... bigger = better to me My 185's only messure 175mm tread tho... damn dunlops
-
I see alot of ppl that say there weber is a 36 or something like that. What part of my carbies do i have to messure to find out what size that are. I mesured the inside of the top of one and it was 56mm, does that mean anything?

fixing regulators would be easy for me... I studied electronics for 2 years (only got half way thru my corse tho ) But if something more then a commen componet, I'd be stuffed i guess.
-
I don't know if it works.. And can't find out unless i get it. If its the same (and will fit into my dash) And if its still there, I'll buy it for no more then $30... We'll see

It was in a EA82 I'm sure, it was a wagon with quad lights. Will this make any difference? It looked like the same shape. Here's a crudy pic of my dash I seem to do that ever other week helping my bro fix his Fiat X1/9 !!! Can any one answer my first question? "Just wondering how much you would pay for one of these?" ( fixed spelling )

difference in engines...
Phizinza replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
BTW, here is Australia we can Brumbies (Brats) that go up until 1994. Still think they have the EA81. I have a 89 Brumby with an EA81 and toursion bar rear suspention, it also has qual headlights. (GL I think that means) -
pertty sure DL's are two head lighted subies and GL's are quad head lighted subies. I don't think it makes any difference to the engine or anything cos I have a quad head lighted subie ute and its still got the EA81.

I saw a digi dash at a u-pull it the other day. Just undering how much you would pay for one of these? I was thinking of making it into a custom digi/analog combo. digi dash with analog tacho. So anyway, how much would you pay?

New coil, Mallory Promaster

I reckon it maybe made 5% difference... hard to tell, might work better if it doesn't need that risistor. It also doesn't help running out of fuel 2 mins from home! More on it tomorrow, when I get back online. -

There it is in the car. I'm using the risistor for now, I'm looking into if I need it or not. I'm getting my 10mm leads from a local place called HarborParts. The problem for you there is this place is in South Austraila... When I get them I'll post the brand name, you might be able to find them in the US then. I was going to get 9mm leads, cos a mate got them and said they gave him more lowend power. But 10mm sounds ok. :-D EDIT: Sorry about the dodgy pictures. There taken by my PDA camera, cos my bro took his "really nice" camera to the V8 Supercar race we have here in Aus, and then the battery was flat this morning Hope these pics will satisfy you. -
I got this in the mail today. Mallory Promaster It cost me $36AUD inc postage off of eBay. Will i need the risistor form the old coil still? I'll get some pics of it in the car tomorrow. Its huge! What do ya think? I hope it helps with some of my miss firing I get when I floor it. I'm also getting some 10mm spark plug leads soon (within the next week) Then I'll think about what spark plugs to get.. Cheap $2 ones, or Iridiums for $19 each.

wheres your EA81's power band?
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hmm.. is it really that bad? It's the second most powerful car I've driven. 1st 88 Ford Telstar 2.2 Turbo 2nd 89 Subaru Brumby (with mods) 3rd 90 Nissan Pintara 4th 85 Ford Telstar 2.0 5th ?83? Suzuki 550cc hatch MmmMMMmmm I love the sound of my Brumby the most tho, 2" makes it soo much better. Apart from the half striped exhust head bolts that make me scared to titen the bolts up. -

is a brat cam some different sort of cam, or does it come in every brat EA81 engine? What about the delta cam ? What do they do to the power and power band? I heard of someone using EA82 rally pistons that were 4mm longer then the normal EA81's. Are these common to find? Or what other way should I go about upping my compression? I'll look into the disty stuff too. My ute spins the front wheels on the road alot, but it just lacks the power to pull over big rocks and up steep and ruff tracks. I'm not to fussed on the power up high. It is a pickup after all!! I would really like to drive a stock brat, but I'd have to pretend I wanted to buy it, not to good at lying... -
Ok. EA81 owners, I would like you too tell me when your car really picks up, and what mods (if any) has it got. My EA81 (check sig for whats it got) seems to hit the real power at about 3200RPM. I'm wondering if getting a stock cam, or a low end power one would be worth while. I want lots of power around 1500 to 2500RPM. Thanks!

yeah that car is cool. Found it in google about a year ago. Its got EJ20 with a 2.2 stroker kit. also I was told by the dudes at TRP it was running the EJ20 drive shafts and a EJ20 box converted to a dog box. It also has 700cc injectors and 100hp NOS injection! pitty it didn't hit the 500 mark. Oh and btw, who needs an air filter on a car with NOS and 495hp... Its not going to last long anyway! I've seen other video's of it in local car shops. Like of it driving around and stuff. Gotta love the pickup that trucks got!
