  1. Do the EA82's only have one down pipe?? How does that work? I konw my 89 brat EA81 has two down pipes from both heads my_89brumby3.jpg Looks nice, I only have 2" extractors and that sounds sweeeeet, not to loud (so my subs still loud enough!
  2. SHES BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:slobber: Thanks for your reply 85Sub4WD but it just turned out to be a spark plug lead with 172K Ohms!!! the other one the same legith is only 13K Ohms! She kicks up the dirt now! Still have to plug that lead onto earth, I think its for a capasitor to cut the noise on the radio... That can wait a bit, I need to get a CD player first! OMG she goes like a rocket! (i haven't driven many powerfull cars before... or maybe i just haven't driven any powerfull cars before:-p) Thanks again.. See ya around the corner, I've got a lot to learn about subies, To research I go!.
  3. I have twin webber carbies on my 89' EA81 Brumby. I am having truble with them. They are dual throat and the problem lies in the second throat. I have been doing a few things with the car lately (thrust bearing, oil change, reshaping bent airbox) and I have lost some power somewhere. I noticed a few days ago that my second throats were only opening up at about 4000RPM. Just today I done the timming and they arn't opening at all, I rev'd it a little harder then I would of liked trying to get them to open, yet they stayed closed. What could my problem be. Could the lack of power (no longer can spin all four wheels in the dirt) be the second throats not working? Help is most welcome as I hate burning this much clutch just to get the car moving in hi-range up hills. Also, does anyone out there have a manual for these webbers? As the stock manual only has hitachi's in it. Twin carbies on the engine. thats one of the waights that opens the second throat (moves with ease) I've also got a wire hanging of the underneath of my distrbutor. Does anyone know where that should go? Its a hard green wire. Couldn't find it anywhere in the manual :-| A couple of more pics http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/RIMG0032.JPG http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/RIMG0036.JPG http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/RIMG0037.JPG Thanks for any help.
  4. All of it. vacuum and centrifugal advance seems ok on the distributer. But not 100% sure, I will check that out next. All of the rev range.
  5. After changing the thrust bearing my car lost power (well i think it was after then, I've been forgeting so much latly :-\ ). I have an 89 EA81 Brumby/Brat with Twin Webbers, Ground Cam, Bigger Better Valves. When I got it, a couple of weeks back I got all 4 wheels spinning on the dirt. Now when I try it just takes off. I also found its just so sluggish, goes about as well as my bothers 350,000KM 2L stock ford telstar that I rolled a few months back. I've checked the carbies fuel jets, they are both working. I checked the sparke plug leads, seems fine. I checked the timming, was out, but after adjustment, it didn't go any better. What can I do next? Also the ute has an Leone dash (for the tacho many, I think.) the voltmeter reads about 11.5V's most of the time, the tempmeter doesn't move unless I rev the engine alot, the oilpresure meter does the same as the tempmeter and the speedo reads higher then I'm going, which isn't too bad as I'm putting bigger tyres on it for offroad so it might get back in to the right speed. What can I do the fix the gadges reading low expet the speedo?
  6. It's got a ground cam, bigger valves, 2'in extractors, 2 webber carbies. And I think it goes a lot harder then a stock one, but its the only one i've driven. 90lbs-ft huh? Well, thats cool. Thanks anyway.
  7. I downloaded a picture of the stats for the 82 Subaru Brat and it said it had 71bhp and 54lbs-ft. I have an 89 with EA81 (pushrod, cos the utes never changed like the wagons did) I had a look on globalcar.com at the 89 Legacy 1.8 GL 4WD (OHC) and they say it has 102bhp and 107lbs-ft. How much power would a stock 89 ute have? Not that my engine is stock, still figuring out whats in there :-)
  8. When I got my Brumby last week I found out it has GAS shockers on the rear. They had no pressure in them when I got the car home, but all seems fine exept I got no idea what I should run my Brumbies/Brat's rear shockers at. Is 80PSI ok? Thanks.
  9. sorry. Wouldn't 235 be a little wide. It is a good idea to have skinny tyres for cutting thru the soft stuff down to the hard stuff. Well thats what the WRC drivers do anyway. Mmm, need rollcage and STi 2.5L... Thanks for your help.
  10. I have a 89 Brumby ute. It came with 14x6 Sunraysia wheels with low profile tyres to keep the speedo in (which it isn't anyway, about 9kph out at 60kph) I want to get some bigger tyres for it for off-roading, but they also need to be good for on-road driving. The Brumby has an 2" lift kit so It should be able to take some fair sized tyres I thought. I will need to do some work on the mud flaps as they will only take an extra 2inch bigger tyres . What size of tyres should I get for off-road and on-road? Also to make the car look meaner then it already does.
