  1. Does anyone know the ratio the steering needs to be lengthened per body lift height?
  2. In my old 89 Brumby I had a coupe dash with tacho and the fuel gauge would stay even with the key out. My factory dash thy 87 Brumby it goes all the way down without the key. Is this a wiring thing, a sender thing or the gauge design? I want my current one to still show the fuel level when the car is off.
  3. For longer shocks. Stock has around 5 inch travel, there are alternatives that can be fitted with 7.5 to 8 inches while still giving the same compression length.
  4. Hey everyone. Wanting to see some pictures of body lift in the front and re-clocked torsion bars in the rear. Best would be if you have around the 2 inch mark of lift. Thank you.
  5. That's quite a impressive amount of work. What's the wheel base? Looks very long.
  6. Thanks Subarule, I was unaware that RockAuto would ship to Austraila! Just ordered the clutch from them at $100 cheaper than I can buy it in Australia. Did some research and ended up going with LUK brand instead of Exedy.
  7. Looking at new clutches. EBay has no name brands, that are 2/3 the price of Exedy. So some cheap versions of things can be quite good these days, what's the verdict on these 'Premium' clutch kits?
  8. Do all the EJ's use the same o-rings? And can they be replaced with a generic quality rubber o-rings?
  9. I understand there is an Offroad section and a Racing section on this forum but I am targeting this area as you're the Legacy drivers and I'm bound to get more people seeing this here. If the mod's wish for it to be moved, sorry for misplacing it. I've raced old 83 wagons in an offroad event for a few years and no matter how much we beef them up they only last a few weekends. We need more power and more strength. Logically the answer in my mind is Legacy (Liberty). I am just wondering if anyone here has put a Legacy threw as much punishment as I have put my old 83 wagons threw? Or perhaps anything near as much punishment? How did it take it, where has it broken or bent? Here is a youtube playlist of my racing. Thank you, Phiz
  10. Well a 95 Liberty (Legacy, EJ22) starter fitted the 99 Outback (EJ25 SOHC). At the wrecker I compared auto to manual starters and the manual one is longer in the bellhousing than the auto. The auto starter did look a lot like the older EA starters. But it was obvious it would not work with the manual EJ boxes. The car isn't mine, well it was... The new owners contacted me for advise on getting the starter motor replaced. I offered to do the work for them. The starter I fitted was a 23300-AA280, the car had a 23300-AA380. One of the auto 95 models had a A23300-AA390. I really have no idea how anyone works out what the starter will fit by the model numbers.
  11. It was almost off the bottom of the page. This forum seems very active these days and back when I used to be here a lot answers would come pretty quick. I was just bumping the post up. I won't be buying an eBay one, I was just referencing it. I'll get a second hard one and open it up, clean it out. It's what I've always done. Ok. Looks like I'm out ta time and will just have to bite the bullet, I'll let you all know if it is compatible.
  12. Will a gen 1 Legacy starter motor (4 bolt manual gearbox) fit a gen 3 Legacy (8 bolt manual gearbox)? I've found some on ebay which state they are for all the EJ manual gearbox models...
  13. So there is the usual blue letters on silver sticker saying "LSD" and "3.700" but what do I make of an R160 LSD with a old worn sticker with "LSD" in black letters that is at least twice the size of the blue letters?
  14. The car is trashed now. With three years of racing and over 150 jumps its splitting at the firewall, folding along the roof, tore out the custum upper wishbone, and so much more. Will be transplanting some of the mods to a new car

What's the turning circle like with those style upper joints?

  17. Thought it would be good to share this with you all
  18. I get it now. I was ignoring the fact that the steering works on the horizontal plane and only considering the effects of it on the vertical plane.. Thanks
  19. Surely that would only have an effect if the suspension were to travel while turning? I'll need to mock up some suspension and see this
  20. Interesting.. I fail to see how this is an issue unless suspension travel is also factored in..?
