  1. You can fit 8.5" wide tires to 5.5" wide rims, but 6" is prefered. With a high tire wall like the 28"s would have it should be fine.
  2. Just so you know there was an EA81 GL Touring and a EA82 GL Touring. Not sure about the US but here in Aus The EA82 Tourers were very common and were made from 85 to 94.
  3. It has a Tacho, is that standard?
  4. My old Brumby, brothers old 83 wagon and a mates 88 wagon. All the good bits of footage I have put in a 6min video. Hope you enjoy.
  5. A mate of mine has some video of the day and will be putting it on youtube shortly hopefully
  6. Old video, but I'm only just got around to uploading it on youtube. I'm working on a video of the highlights from the old days. Should be ready soon.
  7. When you do put them on make sure that are sealed up on the back and keep them clean. Should last plenty long then. Look nice
  8. Heads are different on those two engines so you would need only the short block and then put all your turbo ea82 parts on it.
  9. Had a bit of a forum meet up at my place. Went for a drive after lunch and found some of the back roads were quite interesting with the weather we've been having. A guy on my forum, 32ford, brought down his Brumby and we found some challenging stuff for it being in stock form. This spot it got a little stuck, but some rocks and pushing got it too the top. The 4runner in the first picture (you might of read my thread in non-subaru section about it) has twin lockers, twin low range, 35x12.5 MTZ's, and a turbo diesel. It got stuck going through the same stuff and had to back down a bit and take another bite. So all in all the Subie done very well considering how the road was. Hey, this was my 200th thread subscription! Hows that?!
  10. who need pretty when you have functional. ?
  11. And now HiRise Lifts are no longer available (only other place I know of that would ship to the US) you are the only guy to go too.. Good thing you make a quality product.
  12. Lol, yes cars are flawless. No need to replace parts. You can't replace parts twice because it causes a paradox in time. Things don't break/wear so why replace them more then once, hell why replace them at all. I got a call from a guy interested in buying my Mercedes tonight. He couldn't figure out how I fixed all the things on it myself without being a professional mechanic? Some people just have no clue
  13. I'd go a 1 piece if your getting anything customed. Less angle on the joints. If its just a straight 5sp conversion in an EA81 wagon, sedan or Brat then a two piece is cheap and easy to fit. But the hatchbacks are slightly shorter car.
  14. wheres my Subaru for $250?? Should be a fun rig. Pics are a must
  15. I remember the days where everyone didn't like the looks of the SJR kits... Now it seems your the guy Scott. I've only dealt with building my own lifts, so sorry no input
  16. The EZ30 would be a good choice too if its a bit tight in there.. They are only a little bit longer then the 4 bangers and same goes for width.
  17. FTY the original ignition switch turns off the accessories wire when starting. Try looking for info on Google about how to wire switches. Better learn what your gonna do then just doing it and then having an electrical fire later (I'm serious about the fire).
  18. Normally ones accesories, ones ignition, ones starter, and one from the battery. Do you mean a system where you push a button and it auto starts (turning off starter when started) or hold the button down til it starts? I'm pretty sure the smaller blue wire is the starter. Just need a button from pos to that wire and it will start as long as your key is turned to ignition on.
  19. A lick of paint and some Armour All and she'll look the goods for sure.
  20. Are we talking differences between the engines or the bodies, or both?
  21. **** you, donuts are awesome! No, seriously. Ok, Subaru's have their place in 4wding. Same goes for Toyota's. Just because Subie's can't go as hardcore as Toy's doesn't mean they are less of a vehicle. Most of the problem here I gather is due to someone saying Toy's are crap. To these people, you are being hypocritical in saying this as all cars are crap.
  22. If its a manual the push button operates the same mechanisim as a d/r box does for 4wd only without a lever (uses vacuum). But yes, the dual range gearbox will help a lot offroad and is probably more important then bigger wheels, tires or a lift.
