  1. I believe that model of Foresters normally have SOHC motors. So the first question would be, does a DOHC EJ fit between the "chassis rails"
  2. Looking good. Should be a sweet ride. Staying matte/satin black? Whats that like to wash? I done a hood like that and it pulled apart my sponges and left lint'y stuff everywhere.
  3. Cheers guys. Theres a few reasons I sold it. Some of the main ones were: I'm a builder, I enjoy building the cars up. I do not enjoy fixing them so much. My level of offroad was too much for the little Brumby. I kept trying things a Subaru shouldn't (my brother owns a 4runner with twin lockers and 35" MickyT's, try to keep up with that.) I wasn't using the tray, and I wanted a 4 seat car. I'm happy the car sold. And I'm sad of cause. I didn't get what I wanted to start off with but I guess I got a decent price in the end. I want to come back to Subaru again sometime. Maybe when I have enough money for a junker car I can just trash and enjoy and still have a good road car. As for my next car I would love to get an Imp, put a 2.2 or turbo'd EJ in it, 4" lift, AT's, and D/R 4.11/1.59:1 AWD gearbox. But we'll see on that, it won't be able to tow my offroad buggies so it might be a later project. Theres quite a few other photo's of mods I done on her that didn't get in that slideshow due to how long it was getting. And I think there are some in there that aren't in time order. But mostly it is a chronological order of what we went through.
  4. Sounds pretty good. When I modded my Brat's front suspension I found the best thing was the positive caster. It gave so much more feel like you said. Although I wasn't running any anti-sway bars it still felt like a train on tracks with the 215/60r15's. Got any pictures of these additions?
  5. Just don't decide to sell your car... Then you'll be chasing so many problems and it will break down continually.
  6. Now that she's gone (hopefully to a good home) I thought a slideshow of what we went through would be a nice way to send her off. Might just add, the video is just over 5mins long...
  7. How about some 12" travel fox air shox in the rear. No need for springs, just pump them up to the height you want Ok, maybe not.. Becareful with rear strut extensions. I've seen ones that fold up and then rip the car apart. Not pretty. Theres only two bolts on a angle holding that all there.
  8. IMO it is not worth it. Maybe getting a harder packed center diff out of an STi box or something would for offroad. Put an LSD center in the rear. Maybe get a D/R EJ case from Aus, NZ, Europe? Those sorts of things would be worth it. And if anyone here is going to put a EA gearbox in a EJ, why not just use the EJ front casing halves so you don't need adapters..?
  9. Not many UK people on here. All I can tell you is in Australia it would be worth $3000 to $5000 AUD. In the US it looks like maybe $2000 to $3500 USD. Do your hardest research into it using the next and newspapers etc. You'll work out a price. Either that or ask what you want for it and see how it goes.
  10. So why didn't anyone just tell the man to look at the gearbox under the hood and look for the D/R shifter lever just behind the clutch housing?
  11. Yeah, those vacuum 4wd engaguer things aren't the best. Might be a leaking vacuum hose, bad wiring or stuck cable or many other things I guess.
  12. I made one for my Brat recently too. Heres the pictures. http://www.offroadingsubarus.com/images/temp/shifter_boot.jpg http://www.offroadingsubarus.com/images/temp/subaru_for_sale_interior4.jpg The old one torn and I pulled it out a long time ago. But the rubber boot under it had a hole and I got a fair bit of road noise through it. I didn't care much but then I got around to doing the cover because I kept getting splashed inthe face by water making its way up and around the shifter linkages and propshaft! I was quite happy with the finished project. Its just vinyl though.
  13. Argh.. you guys over there are so lucky to have snow.
  14. Not sure with the xt6 but on the EJ ecu's you just unplug power from them (either the plug on the ECU or the battery terminal) and wait about 10mins. Then plug it all back in and shes a clean slate.
  15. Cross your eyes and it looks clear!!.. Nah, that doesn't work.. really it doesn't. Its just that I can't see holes in it, and it looks like one continuous weld.
  16. Picture 45... Don't tell me the things tech screwed together??! Nah, I see the reinforcing and welds there.. Looks interesting..
  17. Weld looks alright.. What did you weld it with? I'm welding body panels at the moment for a current project and keep blowing holes in things haha.
  18. Front one looks alright. Although no headlight protection, but I guess you don't have kangaroos over there that love the front of cars.
  19. 1:08... Nissan? Interesting ute chop anyhow. NFS Carbon drifting was so weak. Its like watching a kid plan matchbox cars. haha, Southpark FTW.
  20. Why Off Topic? Isn't that what we have Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion for? Sorry I can't help with your problem. Good luck with it.
  21. Awesome. I remember seeing that thing ages ago, 05 I think. Should be awesome to see how this new rig of yours goes. Slightly offtopic but at the moment I am building a RWD Suzuki "550" hatch with a mid engine setup using a Mazda 626's 2L engine. Welded the diff and fitting 626 suspension all round. Putting an exo cage on it because theres no enough room in side for a roll cage I reckon. Should be fun.
  22. The first holdens to get the Commodore (or as some of us say commonwhore) name had a Skyline motor I believe. I know the skyline was a good car. But thats like mixing to ugly fat blokes together. :-\
  23. That isn't the one with mid engine and the front hub hooked up with a chain off the rear output to drive the rear diff up front was it?
