So, even though she's got no more ECU error codes when I plant it when going up hill under about 2K RPM she just stutters and doesn't accelerate. Feels like fuel cut. (btw, El Inferno is my Brumby, and she's a biatch.) Just wondering if anyone else has this issue and if its just normal or what ever.. Doesn't really bother me, I just though it was a symptom of the VSS 33 code.

quick response to EA81 question?
Phizinza replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ahh. good thing I never tried to use one then.. EDIT. Just thought I'd add that I found the EA82 knuckle also uses a different seal on the inner side. It's bigger and won't work with a EA81 drive shaft, either will a EA82 driveshaft work with the EA81 knuckle -
quick response to EA81 question?
Phizinza replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, the EA81 hatch went til 89 in the US and the Brat went til 87. I've looked at it and I can't see any difference from the EA81 hubs to the EA82 (they may look a little different, but the measurements are all the same) The knuckle is the same too, it's just the brakes that are different I think. -

Someone should tell him about Pirate4x4. Then give us the link to his posts...... -
Subie's use uni body's (the whole body is the chassis, as in the body doesn't sit on a chassis it is the chassis.) You could cut the panels off a car then bolt them to a tube chassis/rollcage if your good enough in that area. Or you could stripe down a Subaru to it's bare shell then build it up how you want it.. But no, there isn't a kit to build a Subaru. There are plans for buggies that use Subaru driveline however. Rhino Buggies is the popular one.

Its a long wait, but well worth it, WBII is Alive

Totally know what you mean.. But the only way to stop that is go down to 195 or get some better tread (M/T, or rally) I reckon -
I really need to get myself a AF ratio gauge and a fuel pressure gauge.. Oh and a surge tank.. Sorry for going slightly off topic

Is that crimping the 3.2mm size or the 8mm size hose your talking about GD? I was talking about the 8mm size which is what I have..

Bloody awesome.. Well done man

My EA81 tank has issues with the cornering thing and running out of fuel thing now I run EFI (EJ22.) It starts at about 42L down, and I think the tank is a 55L. I ran a full sized 5/8th rubber pipe (through the door trip strip with the other fuel feed hoses) because I didn't want anything bursting off. I also used one of the tank vent hoses and the original return line. I have noticed you can squeeze the return hose and the engine doesn't mind so you probably would be fine with the little 3.2mm return line. I just wasn't sure and didn't want to blow a hose with 40psi of fuel in it in the engine bay. (yes, although I am talking EJ I still used the EA82 pump so it all is basically the same stuff.)

Once I got my Brumby's front suspension sorted the 215 road tyres had crazy grip. More then I wanted to find out in fact. -
When I first got my Brumby with the EA81 dual carb motor I tested it on a dirt road in 4WD low. Before I knew it it was about 8,200RPM and still going up freely. Now the engine has trouble going above 6500rpm while driving. That will change though when I build it up. It's just sitting in the shed now gathering dust. EJ22 cuts out at somthign like 7,200rpm? So thats the maximum from that.

suabru sand rail (not the same ol storie)
Phizinza replied to subaruguru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
A guy near where I live (well about 160km away, but hey) builds these http://members.optusnet.com.au/risingsuncar/rising_sun/Buggies.htm Not what I would call a "sand rail"... Those are normally RWD rear or mid engine full custom chassis things. -
Lookie what I found in a random search.

Pretty sure GD was talking about the green wagon in the pic he quoted.. But, eh, I don't know. -
Subaru Leone vs. Nissan Skyline you tube
Phizinza replied to dragonfire's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nah, our miles are shorter here! I'm pretty sure it's a 1/4.. Pretty sure it's not that car. I was told on AUSubaru it was a full WRX conversion. Maybe that was by someone who likes Nissan's? -
How long do front axles last for you?
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The right side (one that needs replacing) has lasted maybe 12,000km (7,300m.) But it only started making noise after I took the car on some very hardcore (for a subie) hill climbs. I heard some nosies on the way up that a car should NEVER make and I think it may of been the CV's as the rest of the rubbers and joints are all good in the front end. So that really explains why I go through axles so fast. I just kinda wanted to know the percentage difference in miles I guess. -

Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah. Thing here of cause is I run EA82 axles with custom control arms and radius rods. And I also run a little less clearnce then stock due to the EJ22. The JY shafts I will only get have both boots in good condition and feel good. I don't run them for very long when they break a boot either, so easy and cheap to fix. It's just it costs $130-$160 for a new/reman axle or $20-$25 for a JY jobbie. Only like 35mins to swap as well, and thats taking my time. -

GD.. I'm not after exact measurements of how long they last. Just a general time difference between ones you pick up at the junkyard and ones you buy in the shop. I know I can't afford new ones, but I was wondering weather or not they are really worth it in the long run. So, all I ask is, how many miles on average do you get out of a "good looking" axles from the junkyard vs "whatever brand" new one? Simple really and it does have merit as a question in my mind. -

Yeah, running WRX engine and gearbox I'm pretty sure -
Does anyone like the Ssangyong rexton?
Phizinza replied to TheLoyale's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
I think anything Ssangyong looks like crap... Just my opinion. -

I'm actually more interested in how many miles you get out of new vs wrecker (junkyard) axles.. Not too fussed about the brands, although if your talking new axles please specify brand. Thanks. -
I have to replace the right hand front axle again as the CV is making yum noises. So I'm just wondering how long you get out of second hand front axles and how long you get out of new ones? I'm mainly interested for rigs with bigger tires. In the 20,000km odd I have driven the Brumby I have changed the both the front axles due to CV problems. I also had to change the inner DOJoint on the left hand side because I put it back together the wrong way round. I only use S/H axles due to cost. Just interested really.

tail light fuse keeps blowing

Have you done anything with the tail lights recently? Sometimes you can crush wires when putting lights back in.. -
Car speakers are too big!!

I have a mate with a Logitech X-530 5.1 setup running in his truck. His got a 300watt cheapy inverter running it and he just uses a MP3 player as the music source. Sounds great, way better then my Alpine amp powering my 6.5" Pioneer speakers that are fulling encased in mdf boxes. The sound is so clear and the bass is really nice. Not as loud as the 12" Pioneer sub on the Fusion amp, but better sounding. I was quite surprised to say the least.
