What was those times for? Drag? What distance? Just interested... We don't get any cool stuff like that here in Australia. We do get some alright offroad comps though.

Ford Courier 77-84 14 x 6 Nissan Pickup 73-86 14 x 6 I know these two should have the right offset.. I have a set of custom mags for the Courier on my car (15x6, though same offset) and a set of the Nissan 14x6's with some M/T's. I use both on my Brat. Perfect offset if you don't want your tires sticking out.. You want 23mm positive offset I'm pretty sure for a 6" wide rim. That should work just perfectly.

Yes, this is what my Brumby looked like after my brother hit a bank of dirt in it. Take off the wheel and you'll see the radius/caster rod is bent, but also look at the control arm vs the other side and see if it is twisted at all. I'm pretty sure you'll just find its twisted on the rubber joint and it doesn't need replacing. Good luck mate. Hopefully just the radius rod.

Summer Project: Fix My Windows *Fixed W/ Pics*
Phizinza replied to Durania's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well if it's a blue screen of death, your screwed mate... You'll have to do a reinstall over the top. Or maybe even have to format your hard drive. If it boots but runs very slowly try downloading a spybot killing program, then make sure there are no viruses. If that doesn't fix it, try uninstalling as many programs as you can that aren't needed. And if that still doesn't work try the first thing I said. If it won't even boot into windows you'll also need to do this first thing I said. :-p -
Yeah, I want a snorkle for my Brumby. But not sure if I'm going to keep her as an offroad rig atm... I used to think it was a waist of time, till I couldn't cross a spot on a trail because the water was 2" deeper then my air intake, now I know they are worth it.

Brumby conversion: EJ22, hybrid AWD center lock, SUCCESS!!!
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Haven't done anything about the speedo yet, but she seems to be happer now for some reason.. Still a random idle but not as low anymore. Also I went out driving for a bit today on the back roads.. After that I have decided I'm not going to turbo Inferno til I grow up a little. I think I'd just kill myself... -
The only problem I can see is with the front wheels. Subarus have a lot of steering, and I don't think a uni joint on a dropped down wheel with full lock would be happy.. Most trucks only have like 24-26 degree steering, Subies have 33degree to my understanding. So it would work better with less steering.

I think tranny breather hose.

That was a vital bit of information we needed..I have no clue about auto gearboxes and I plan to keep it that way, I hate the things. Sorry, can't help. ˇ ˇ ˇ ˇ I ment the auto part, not the fact its an EA82... -
I'm considering commiting blasphemy.

My brothers 84 4runner diesel is a 4.56 ratio, but that means nothing cos there is so much different between the US and Aus. You want to go to a yota motor as well? If I were to do a solid axle conversion I would use a gearbox and t-case from a "normal 4wd", place it further back, use a flat 4 with the front diff just in front of it. Better center of gravity, still subaru flat 4, and you can get a 3.2:1 or even 4:1 reduction ratio in your t case depending on what you use.. I'm pretty confident that there is, can be made, enough room for that idea. Go trailing arm and coils for the rear axle, not leaf. -

what size is the pipe? Sounds like a heater hose to me. -
Platinum Bosch 2&4 electrode Spark Plugs

Had a mate with a 94 RX EJ20 SOHC. He put some Bosch iridium's in it and he could feel the difference. Plus they are ment to last much much longer. But that's only "heard" advice.. Can only really take that with a pinch of salt. -

Its a long wait, but well worth it, WBII is Alive
Phizinza replied to Matty B's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
No, it looks very similar to the standard one. The coupes insturment cluster extends further left where the clock is and it also has a tacho which was never even an option for the Brumby as far as I know. The guy who put the coupe dash in my Brumby (previous owner) said it was a huge pain the butt and he would never ever do it again and suggested that no one ever do it either, eheh... Lucky me. -

That some pretty serious offset of those rear wheels.. Looks good though. You going to get flairing or swap those wheels for different ones? It's funny, I look at your car and see so much similar to mine. Big "sports bar" rotting plastic coupe dash aftermarket steering wheel bullbar But some things don't line up with mine, like the turbo under the hood, huge awesome tyres, and what looks like a working CD player! -
Wheel Toe In Or Out
Phizinza replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Normally no more then 2 degrees. On my car something was bent (wasn't the control arm, radius rod or engine crossmember so it must of been the car) and one wheel was like 3 degrees while the other was < 1 degree. Without lift blocks (i.e. standard height stock car) I reckon you could get 12mm out of the top strut mounts.. Any more and I bet the spring would rub the tower. I don't really know it all calebz, I just through what I know out there for others to add to. If there is a lower combination, then awesome, that would be the way to go. -

Wheel Toe In Or Out
Phizinza replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As the wheels go down on these subarus (either front or rear) they get mor positive camber. I have a feeling that the 2WD versions with their lower struts have good camber but the jacked up 4WD versions didn't compensate and now they all have stupid camber. New struts won't help, you need to move the top of the strut inward to fix this problem. Or you can move the bottom control arm outwards (much harder to do) to fix it. On the rear you can't do anything really. If your car is a road car and you only want the 4WD for snow on the roads then you could lower it an inch or two front and rear. For the rear: via putting stiffer springs off an honda accord in and cutting them or getting some new ones made to fit. For the front: you may have adjustable spring purches or you may need to cut those springs too. There are many ways to lower and improve you cars ride, so make sure you research that if you want to go that way. As for lifted rigs, we're screwed there.. Try looking into caster top strut plate adjusters.. I know there is a couple of people on here with that kind of setup on their EA82 cars. -
Platinum Bosch 2&4 electrode Spark Plugs
Phizinza replied to jueledwards's topic in Subaru Transplants
I've had bosch plugs in my EA81.. Looked fine after a year and when I put NGK in there wasn't any noticeable difference. Even the Nippondenso's were the same.. Although if you have all had bad experiences with bosch then I'll believe you. Just as long as you aren't talking about someone elses bad experience... -

haha.. I shouldn't type when my brain wants to do other things.. fixed now -
Yeah, these rigs are awesome. But still don't do what my subie can do.. Pitty I don't have that footage on camera as I was the one driving and no one seemed to have a hand free to video me in my car

Wheel Toe In Or Out
Phizinza replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, that's positive camber. Toe in is where the front of the wheels poinr into each other. Toe is much better then toe out and positive camber is better then negative. I still don't understand Subaru's intention when the designed this suspension. Maybe they thought everyone was going to lower their Subies..... -
Heres another video of my bros 84 2.4L diesel lifted 4Runner on 35x12.5 Micky T's.. This is pre lockers. Enjoy.

Brumby conversion: EJ22, hybrid AWD center lock, SUCCESS!!!

Well I pulled the cluster.. Pulled the speedo out of it and it is completely mechanical.. No wires, no sensors and not surprisingly (because we didn't get EGR til 85 here) no EGR light. -
Love the sound of the stock EA82!

I think they qualifies for poor suspension setup and age... :-p Or maybe you just need AWD like me. -
