Cool racing ute, kinda like what a guy here in Australia is doing to a Brumby (Brat.)

Brat cosmetics Q's (rear bumper for 83, map pocket)
Phizinza replied to dfoyl's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't forget to grab one of those "BRAT 1800" stickers from a tailgate while your there! And what ever other US only badges and stickers they have.. eheh -
Could Subaru make a worse bumper!
Phizinza replied to Subieguy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
They call is part of the crumple zone. You want things to crumple before you bend the chassis... Plus crumple zones save lives. If the car doesn't crumple, you do. -
It's pretty awesome, but I think I'll stick to vehicles with a shell around me... Subaru STI ATV Sti ATV!!! the name says it all!!! STi ATV

I've only got 2 Hella's on the front bullbar. But I wanted to put two Hella Comet 500's and two Rallye 1000's on the rollbar/sportsbar. But I'm still spending money on the important things, like EJ22. I edited a couple of pictures of the lights on my roof, but I can't seem to find them now. I like your lightage scoobyclimbs.

Yeah, I want to put some BFG's on my 15"s, but I want 235 wide and nothing over 28" tall.. hmm. What they need to make is a 235/65R15 M/T haha The BFG's have much better side tread then the Kumho's

On a 6" wide rim you'd like 25mm offset for the subarus. That means where the wheel bolts to the hub is 25mm towards the outside of the car from the center of the wheel. I hope I'm not just confusing everyone.. :-\ I'd drill the hubs as you don't have to worry about making the tapper in the rim. And it looks cleaner. But thats just me.

I wish they sold swampers here... Although I want a good road tire as well as offroad tire, and I've heard swampers are soft.

Good to see you got what you wanted. Good luck with it and post some pics of the new wheels once there on!

I pulled my map pocket off and put it on the passenger door a bit further back so I could fit my 6.5" door speakers. http://offroadingsubarus.com/images/subaru_indoor_speakerbox_fitted.jpg Mines a 89 Brumby. -
Sorry, I'm not good with math that includes pie... Mmm, apple pie.. Ooops sorry, got distracted! My dad would be able to figure it out, I'll ask him tonight if it hasn't been solved by then..

The ones I got were off ebay, $170AUD for the four to my door. I don't know if Performance sells in the USA, but if you were to buy new you could get the 4x140 ones (yes, they do a 4x140 here in Australia, in 15x6 or 15x7) Problem is there, it costs about $210AUD per wheel new. (sorry for distracting people from the subject at hand Tom)

What to do with old FSMs.
Phizinza replied to mikeshoup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'd even be happy to donate a small amout when your done if you have paypal -
Performance Superlites are what they are. Look the same as the Minisuperlites and plenty of others. I forgot which company originally came up with the design. But there are a lot of brands that have wheels that look the same. I'm hoping to get some M/T's for them, then I can have good tread and good looking wheels

Great work.. Keep it up and keep me informed! Cheers, -
Kumho Venture M/T's 27x8.5R14's (197mm wide, 26.3 inches tall) 6ply side wall. Tread life I estimate at 35,000km to 40,000km. Cost, expensive.... ($180AUD) My brother is on Goodyear Wrangler TG's which are 185/75R14's (185mm wide 25.8 inches tall?) 6 or 8 ply side wall? Him and his mate reckon they'll get somewhere between 30,000km to 50,000km. The guy at the tire shop said they see them get upto 80,000km on vans. Cost, $140AUD, pretty cheap for this kind of tire. And a picture for the road

The 6 lug spacing is 139.7mm.. So I would assume that the distance from the center of the hub to the center of the studs would be half that, 69.85mm.. I just used a power drill on the rears (done the fronts with a drill press, but it broke and couldn't finish the rears with it) just drilling through the wheels and it works fine.

I used rods off another car.. They were 4inchs longer, but I cut them down. With my modded control arms I am getting 1.75inchs further forwards. I could do 2inchs easy, but I just don't need it and to me my caster angle is perfect now. Wit stock EA81 arms I wouldn't go much further then 1.5inchs (even that is pushing it I reckon.) The way mine adjust is with a nut on each side, and a piece of pipe in between the rubber and rod so the nuts can do up tight. it works good. If you have a look for my thread about the custom control arms you'll see what I'm talking about... Don't forget you'll need to adjust your steering after touching anything down there...

Brumby conversion: EJ22, hybrid AWD center lock, SUCCESS!!!
Phizinza replied to Phizinza's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Even if I'm still running the stock 1 and 3/4 inch pipe? I just figured since its going to be small at the front there wouldn't be much difference going from 2" straight through to anything bigger.. I'm not planning on getting anything for the headers any time soon... Only reason I want it small is I would like this engine a bit quiter then my EA81dc with it's 2" all the way and no cat. Anyhow, nothing new has happened. i'm trying to figure out what to do with the throttle cable and clutch. I'm guessing the clutch just needs the ea82 5sp's cable. As for the throttle I'm looking at fitting the Subaru Liberty's cable, but it has a different end on the pedel side... hmm -
First.. what size lift if any. Second, what rim offset do you plan to run. Thrid, any size fits with enough bashing :-p

A cool (random) internet picture
Phizinza replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Whats all this talk about those steel rims having to be subaru?? Here in Australia, at least, just about every 80's car has those crappy looking steelies... Nothing Subaru about them.. Nice photochop. -
So why did my Gopher video thread get deleted ??? .... :-p Second to last pic on #1 post is awesome!
